RODE Video Micro tips, tricks & comparison to Purple Panda, RODE Wireless Go and Nikon Z30

I bought yet ANOTHER microphone - this time it's the RODE Video Micro! In this video, we're testing it out in my "KZbin studio" AKA porch, with its fans and hard surfaces [lots of reverb!], as well as out in the field and specifically for wind. I'm also comparing it to the RODE Wireless Go, the Purple Panda, and the built-in mic on the Nikon Z30.

The Rode VideoMicro is a great microphone for a very reasonable price and comes with the deadcat. I have been using mine extensively for many years and it has never let me down - with one exception, the deadcat gets into the picture. The trick to securing the TRS wire is great - it really made my day. Many thanks!

Great! I’ve been struggling with sound a lot too. I think I’m going with a zoom or Tasman for my field interviews. I am pretty sure I can plug lav mics and condenser mics in depending on the situation.

Yeah, they all have their strengths and weaknesses... best to try out what you have and see what works best. It can help if you have a willing assistant to test things out before you're in the field :) good luck!
