Hey dude, I bought the tackstar and a microphone-to-phone adapter and it didn't work, I have the iphone 7 and I couldn't make the microphone work with it. I plan to sell it and buy the Rode, but I don't know if the Rode requires the microphone cable to the phone that sells this same brand, or if I can with the adapter I already have.

Would this microphone work via USB adapter (USB to 3.5mm jack)? I have a specific USB cable setup to allow me to listen to birds, trees-in-the-wind, rain outside my home currently with a crappy webcam fitted, but I can't seem to find a USB shotgun mic within my stupidly low budget, it's good then that I could afford this microphone! :) I just need a way to power it / connect it to my USB cable. Another thing, are there any different types of mount I could use for this? I want to fix this mic (if I get it of course) to my wall so that I can swivel / turn it in the right direction, any advice on this would be welcome, thanks. :) I'm in the UK, so if you know a UK source for any specific mic mounts, even better! :)

Apple: You're holding it wrong. Xiaomi: Your phone blew up coz you bought counterfeit batteries/chargers. Samsung: The paper strip inside your phone shows it has sustained water damage (Wait what?!), therefore you've voided your warranty and you must now pay to replace the motherboard. Rode: We don't sell through Amazon so yours is probably counterfeit. ^ Perfect reasons to shift blame and deflect criticism lol.

Typical, including Lenovo (laptop IdeaPad 320) I was having issues when pluging some external microphones, it contained so much buzz that made audio useless, I contacted Lenovo on Messenger, what can be wrong. They told me to update everything, which I had. I went to the local service with computers, they told me "Bad microphone". I tried experiment. What about grounding hole laptop? Guess what, it removed all humming sounds and my audio is now clean (only with a bit of noise produces by soundcard itself) but now I know what it is. Everytime I want to use external microphone on my laptop, I have to ground it. Excellent. Convenience as Sh*t 😉

HI. Another video said that we cannot plug the mic, with sc7 cable, directly into the phone, or MacBook. It said that we must buy a microphone/headphone splitter adapter and plug that into the MacBook or iPhone, and then plug the sc7 cable into that. Are you sure that we don't need the adapter? will plugging the sc7 cable directly into the MacBook work as well?

I 100% guarantee you no other splitter or cable is necessary for plugging into your iPhone other than the SC7. However, if you need to plug the mic into your MacBook pro, I have had difficulties in the past with getting that to work so it makes sense that a splitter may work in that case. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the response. It appears that the sc7 cable will work directly on the iPhone, but not on the MacBook Pro. Some other videos online indicate that a mic/headphone splitter is needed to get the vidmicro to work on the MacBook Pro. I want to do some recording on my MacBook Pro, so I will try the splitter and let you know.

Because you are using TRS (the wrong cable). Instead use TRRS cable which is compatible for Smartphones/Tablets.

I don't think it was a counterfeit mic. Your phone's WiFi is the most likely culprit. Replacing the Rode cable with a straight shielded one, or turning your phone's airplane mode on would have likely fixed the issue.

You’re likely fine, man! I actually found out after posting this video that my reason for the mic having so much feedback was because some Røde mics pick up static when around phones when they aren’t placed in airplane mode. If you are going to use this with a phone, turn off cellular and WiFi (or just turn on airplane mode) and you should be fine! As long as it wasn’t sold at a insanely low price on eBay, it’s very likely not counterfeit.

@@joey5223 I think he means the mic is picking up RF interference from incoming calls/txt/data, which may have caused the static. Turning on Airplane Mode turns of all transmitters/receivers, so RF interference is less of an issue.

Very helpful. Actually the most relevant video for the set up I’m trying to accomplish. Unfortunately after watching hours of videos I found this one...after I order the mic, paused video and cancelled my eBay order. Placed order with Best Buy right after. Also ordered same mount but a TRS to lightning for an iPhone 11 connection. Skipped the other videomicro models since they have poor radio shielding. Hope my live stream testing goes well before my wedding 😆

I'm pretty sure yours was legit, I bought my "videomic me" off 3rd party amazon sellers as well. because you live in the rural side of town, I'm assuming that's why you didn't experience much electrical disruption. rode needs to figure out how to fix the ground looping issue with their mics. (I know mines legit because on the bottom of the box it came with, it shows a green triangle with a kangaroo that says, Australian made and owned.)
