A few weeks ago, I posted a video giving an overview of the new Rodecaster Pro II - this week it's time to get into the nitty gritty!
In this video I test the audio on the device as well as go through a number of the key features that separate the Rodecaster Pro II from the rest of the prosumer mixing desks currently on the market.

Anyone can create an account on any platform posing as anyone, doesn't mean it's them. Contact KZbin if you want to complain about their spam/scammer/comment procedures or control. My channel is tiny (11k subs) - same scams are affecting a huge number of channels, some with seriously big followings (MILLIONS of subscribers). Great job. Thanks!!.. I finally got one.. familiar with audio interfaces, can't get the Bluetooth connected phone (tried different phones) to pick up much signal from the RCP2, the audio going to the caller. Very faint, even the sound effects get out to caller, but faint. Have latest firmware, phone audio plays music great. Recording to micro storage produces great output sound from my mic and sound effects at the RPC2, but very little sound volume sent to caller using BT, almost inaudible, but there is some sound. So caller gets almost no audio out of the RPC2. Tried every imaginable routing for BT, tried different BT settings at phone, multiple phones/brands etc. My setup at RCP2 is only wall/power supply plugged in, Wifi connected and the BT connected to smartphones with no USB connection to computer. I noticed the monitor icon on the RPC2 was yellow slashed out, figured that's because I have no monitors attached. Anyone have any ideas? Faint output sent to smartphone caller via BT from RCP2 is the issue. Have support issue opened for a while, but thought someone may shed some light.. thanks!!!

Currently I am using Airlite by D&R but I probably wait until Rode has a proper support for various Radio Playout Software, so all native functionality features of the respective playout systems can be used! The Rodecaster Pro II would be the perfect choice as a mixing console!

I think D&R are Rode are targeting different markets though? D&R are specifically for radio, Rodecaster is more 'all round' - so not sure they will have the exactly same functionality as D&R. However, Rode clearly have a bigger R&D budget, so their products are always likely going to have an edge. Having said that, MIDI is pretty universal - so if the software you're using supports MIDI (which they arguably should) then in theory you can assign buttons on Rode to control any software.

Hi James, have you a guide for setting up the new Rodecaster Pro with a dj controller and assigning faders on the controller to the Rodecaster, did I see correctly you can do that now?

Hello James, i would like to thank you so much for your great video as i bought the RODE PODCASTER PRO II and i am using it with my SHURE 7B but i still don't have the same compressor quality like when i was using it with the SBX 286s as before i was using the ZOOm P4 podtrak with the DBX 286s and the SHURE 7B and the quality was much better so can you make a video about the best adjustment for the RODE PCP II with the Shure sm7b if you please James and is it possible to connect the DBX 286 to the RODE PCP II ? thank you.

Hello all🙏🏻 and thank you for videos james🙏🏻 i have bought rcp2 last week i received. I’v issues is for facebook live stream on iphone with audio lighting cable which is rcp2 hasn’t audio aux either lighting audio. Its with usbc mixminus. So please would you help me out what cable or adapter i need to buy ? If possible please links. I bought usbc female to lighting adapter which only charge. Hope you ll help me figure outor please help me somebody thank you 🙏🏻

You might be better looking into something like the Boss VE-500 to do something like that. You can change the pitch of your voice but I don't think there's functionality to harmonise through the device.

Struggling a bit. I have the Rodecaster Pro ll and 4 Podmics. currently testing. At the default Podmic preset with +50db and speaking naturally from about 5-6 inches from the mic I am not peaking anywhere in the green area, it is lower than that. Do I need to up the gain even more? If +50 is the preset recommendation then why is it the audio still too low? Also getting a lot of hiss and noise in the recording and I thought it would be quite at the default settings

James, I noticed you have a laptop stand to show off the new Rodecaster Pro II - brilliant idea! James, what brand/model did you show on your show?

It's just a generic stand from Amazon. Try searching 'silver macbook stand' or similar. One thing which I forgot to mention on this video, is that the unit actually has a thread connection for a tripod type screw underneath. This is great as could potentially allow you to mount it on an arm etc.

I'm hoping the ethernet port is the embryo of an idea for the Rodecaster to become a cheaper alternative to the Glensound ISDN mixer. That would be awesome!

Being totally honest, I can't see Rode implementing ISDN. It's quite dated and I think the capability of the internet has sort of replaced the need for it now? I know it's still used sometimes in industry - remember though, this device is prosumer unit not professional. Think they will potentially allow multiple units to be connected though.

Have you tested the Rødecaster Pro 2 with playout software? Are you able to assign different players to different channels and fire them from fader starts or sound pads?

We are in the process of testing this, In theory - Yes! If your software supports midi commands then you can fire off starts//stops/other macros via the pad buttons.
