Have had Rode Wireless Pro for two days now. Love it. two comments so far: 1, Wish we could have the options to assign file names on each TX, instead of just repeat REC00001,2,3...every time. 2, It is not easy to pull out a unit, either the surface is too slippery, or need to apply force on buttons on the side.

A big compliment to your developers and to the whole team at rode for your good innovative work! You listened to the wishes of the users and implemented them magnificently.

After taxes and import its a little much I think. In Germany, for example, it's currently listed for around 570€ which definetely doesn't seem right. But yes, for around 400€ it would be incredible and I'd ditch my regular recorder for this as I usually don't need more than two audio tracks (well, four if I also could the one of my camera). Edit: 530€, actually. Still that's too steep for me.

Love this video, thanks for going over detailed (and somewhat esoteric) questions! I know it doesn't support this at launch, but I'd love to see a ""Timecode Mode 6" that outputs only the timecode on the right channel and the headset mic on the left channel. In combination with the right cable, it would allow a VideoMic to act as a "headset mic" and have that recorded, along with timecode, to the camera via the stereo headphone out channels, while still keeping the Wireless PRO recordings via their internal backup recording, resulting in "3 channel audio" for one camera!
@rua_productions Жыл бұрын
This all looks pretty good. Few misses here and there such as the jamming of other timecode systems, but also, the fact that the clip of the wireless go should have been made of metal so that you can use a magnet to attach it without having to ad the metal plate to it. It's so frustrating when you wanna use the Interview Go attachment, that it doesn't fit in the mount without having to take off the metal piece. Also whats the story with the built in mic of the go's. They always used to be way too sensitive. Has that been addressed on the Rode wireless Pro?

I can't wait to get my hands on this and test the accuracy of the internal timecode clock in the RX and TX units. Drift occurs not just in the cameras but in any device without an accurate timecode clock. If you have an answer for this, what is the drift frame drop over the course of 24 Hours. This is typically less than 1 frame with any major timecode generator and is also promoted as a headlining feature. Since Rode has never mentioned the drift variance within their own clock, it makes me question its accuracy. I don't want to trash the concept with the Wireless Pro but I really want people to be properly educated on pro features like Timecode. This "drift" concern you're mentioning will cause many upsets in post for majority of the customers who are looking into purchasing the Wireless Pro. This frustration can also cause them to not believe in a legit timecode workflow. TLDR: I think you should advertise this not as a timecode feature or generator at all. I think it should be advertised as a way to effortlessly sync the 32 bit recordings to the users A CAM that has the RX module plugged in.
@spdcrzy Жыл бұрын
Will Rode ever come out with a four-channel or higher wireless mic system? That would be great for cases where you have multiple people all involved in a conversation, especially if you have a 3 or 4 cam setup. If you could generate timecode from such a system and jam it into the cameras at the beginning of a long podcast, for example, and jam the timecode into a RodeCaster Pro 2, then you could adjust levels on the fly in that instead and feed the audio in that way while the cameras just record video - and you could use it as a multicam switcher as well for livestreams. Just curious from a production standpoint, because it would make setting up a run-and-gun podcast or one-to-many interview SO much easier. All you'd need, basically, is a laptop, the RodeCaster (or some future version of it), and that wireless mic system. If you combined all the best elements of the Wireless Pro, the Streamer X, the Rodecaster Pro 2, and Rode Central into a single, seamlessly integrated package capable of video switching and four or more audio channels and sold it for $2000-2500, it would be an absolute game-changer. There is a big untapped prosumer market for serious content creation at a small/medium business level for equipment like this between $1000 and $3000 that has not been cracked yet.

I have (2) Wireless Pro Systems. Two things they should add are these. #1- A way to to Jam Sync Timecode from an external device or at the very least, a way to Sync 2 or more receivers to each other. #2 - A Timecode Mode where Left channel outputs Transmitter 1, Right channel outputs Transmitter 2, and the USB can output or input Timecode. This would make these units infinitely better. I would hope these can be achieved via firmware.

Could you give us a non-marketing breakdown of gain assist? Does it work like a proper limiter/maximizer, i.e. it pushes quiet signals up to the set output gain? Or is it more like the dreaded AGC of old, where we can expect loudness fluctuations when activated?
@rodemic Жыл бұрын
GainAssist is quite different from AGC, and is designed to deliver optimised audio without the level pumping and background noise jumps associated with AGC. It uses a combination of compression and gain uplift, applied to the signal using a proprietary algorithm. There are two modes. In Auto mode the system will do a bit more compression with less gain movements, to deliver a very even result. In Dynamic mode, it uses less compression to preserve more of the signal dynamics, combined with more aggressive gain adjustments. This preserves more of the dynamics of the signal, but may deliver a less even result. I hope that helps!

Hey @peterdirection4608, good question! It really depends on what kind of performance you're filming, but you can certainly plug any VideoMic that works with a DSLR into a Wireless PRO transmitter, just the same as you would plug in a lavalier mic. Something to be aware of would be that the onboard mic on the Wireless PRO transmitter is omnidirectional, meaning that if you have it on the stage, it will still pick up a lot of noise from the audience. If you use your units in split mode, you could have both mics capturing audio (one using the onboard mic and one using your VideoMic, and then choose whichever audio track you like more in postproduction.

One question… if using multiple RWP sets, will the timecode between different sets of RWP be the same if using Real Time when turning timecode on using the Rode app?
@rodemic Жыл бұрын
Hey Matt! Thanks for stopping by today. So awesome to hear you've been able to fit the Wireless GO's timecode into your setup. To your question- the Wireless PRO cannot accept an incoming timecode to sync to, so you can't connect them together. However, the unit's time-of-day timecode is updated when connecting the units to RØDE Central. So if you connect two WiPRO systems to the RØDE Central (desktop or phone), they won't be 100% syncronised, but they will be accurate with each other to within about a second. You'll still need to manually sync your files, but they will roughly be in the right place on your timeline.

You can use it to record audio with an iPad, and you can also use the RØDE Central app to change the device's settings, but just note that unlike the desktop RØDE Central app, you can't use the iOS app to transfer files from the Wireless PRO at this time.

Which would really interest me. Will you present a few usage examples on your homepage or here as a video? You could show a few possible applications and examples. I heard that the Wireless Pro also allows you to connect a microphone directly to the receiver? Would a station then be lost? Or could all be recorded then? Or would it also be possible to additionally store the microphone on the receiver as a backup and then send the two transmitter signals to the camera? Or could you set somewhere which audio signals should go into the camera and which should run as a backup? What I would also be interested in would be if you simply show what the process of a KZbinr or filmmaker could look like. From filming to processing. It's best if you also show the example in the film of what you do when the speaker was way too quiet at one point and suddenly way too loud at another point. Can you only do the editing in the Rode software or would that also work with Adobe Premiere? How big are these backup files? And can you also install an SD card in the transmitters? No right?

Hi, I am really intrigued by the Wireless PRO. This could possibly be the sort of kit that I have long time been dreaming of to slim down my set-up for live chamber music recording. I currently do this with 2 Rode Newsshooter Kits. The TX-XLR transmitters have a high quality microphone connected each and these mics are powered by the transmitters phantom power at 48 V. Then, the receivers plug in to individual channels of my TASCAM DR-701D 6 channel digital recorder. My Canon R5 is then attached to the DR-701D via the tripod thread. The cool thing about this set-up is that the R5 and and DR-701D can be connected via HDMI to simultaneously start video and audio recording, i.e. the audio recorder is so-to-speak slaved to the camera's trigger. As the sound quality is so important for this type of recording, I really love to have separate audio recordings rather then only feeding the audio signals into the camera. In fact, I only use this in camera audio signal to synchronies the the separate audio channels with the video channel. This works great and is very easy by just aligning the wave patterns auf the in camera audio channel and the separate audio channels off the audio recorder. The only down side of this set-up is that it is rather bulky and sometimes raises one or the other eyebrow of people in the audience of chamber music concerts. I see that the Wireless Pro could probably solve this issue and make for a much less obtrusive appearance. However, this would only work, if the Wireless Pro transmitters can provide phantom power (ideally 48 V, less desirably 12 or 24 V) to the attached mics. Can the transmitters provide phantom power and if yes, how quickly would that drain the transmitters' internal batteries? Would there be a way to add external power by means of small USB power banks (e.g. Anker's PowerCore mini)? Lastly, the mics I am usually using are Audix M1280 B. They are very small and unobtrusive and allow me to get close to the musicians without disturbing the visual too much. Their small size is afforded by mini-XLR connection. To make the set-up work with the Wireless Pro (if all previous questions could have been answered with "yes", that is) I also needed to source a 3.5 jack to male mini XLR adapter. Do you know of any such adapter being available?

Hey there! a) This product isn't capable of 48v phantom power. b) You can use external power sources like a battery bank as long as they are specced correctly to charge the unit. Charging specs can be found on the product page here: rode.com/en/microphones/wireless/wirelesspro c) Not sure of any adaptors like that. Good luck with your recordings! 🎻

Is there a way to sync two of these systems together? I’ll give you an example. I shot golf videos and there are usually four players and two cameras. In this instance we need four mics. If we put WGP on each player and the receivers on the cameras, can they by synced together?
@flochfitness Жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same thing. But then I thought, if it's all recorded natively (on each transmitter to gain access to 32 bit float) then all you have to have is a single timecode generator for all 4 devices (jam sync). Does that make sense?
@Andreas-ov2fv Жыл бұрын
You can't directly sync two sets, as he says they can't take jam syncs, just give. But you could run Time Of Day on both receivers instead. If you sync both receivers with Røde Central frequently - after power on and every 4 hours thereafter - their internal clocks should keep drift in check. That depends on hos precise the Røde Central sync is for Time of Day though. EDIT: Note, I don't work for Røde. I just read up on this just now on their website for my own use.
@rodemic Жыл бұрын
Hi Kustoo - you cannot directly sync two Wireless PRO sets together, as the Wireless PRO cannot sync to incoming timecode. However, they do use time of day timecode, and this is taken from the computer or phone it is connected to when opening RODE Central. This means if you connect both sets to RODE Central (eg on your phone) just before starting your shoot, the timecode on the two units will be very close to each other. This should assist with aligning all your clips on your edit timeline, but note that the two Wireless GO sets will not be frame accurate, so you will still need to do some manual adjustment to get a perfect sync. I hope that helps.

@rodemic So if I hook it up to the same computer that my ATEM mini pro iso is conected to, I should get the same timecode as my cameras?

I love your products!! and I just updated my rode wireless II to the Rode wireles pro, but I have two questions: -I would like to know if we can have "noise cancellation" in any update? -Will they launch the "RODE Invisilav Discreet Lavalier Mounting System" accessory? Thanks for your reply 😉

Wow I am realy impressed!!! Keep up the good job! I am planning to pruchase 3 sets of them and I preordered 2 sets already. Already I have 2 sets of GOII's, but the timecode hassel kept me from equiping all of my cameras with those. My question regarding timecode would a be possible to sync muliple PRO recievers as network of recievers. Then this would be THE answer to multicam situations. If this would be possible, I will be the happiest Indy filmmaker a live and I will use them in my next feature film of which we are currently in pre-production.

Unfortunately there’s lots of specs you still haven’t published - what voltage does the Tx supply the lav mic? What is the exact latency? What is the sample rate and bit depth of the actual transmission? What line level standard does the Rx output?

Does the transmitters accept line levels on their 3,5mm inputs? Do the PROs still have that built in High Pass filter (Lo cut) permanently inserted in the 3,5mm mic inputs as the Wireless GO II has?

Wow. I am speecless. All this sounds simply insane. While I am waiting for mine to arrive, one question: if I plug the receiver into a 32-bit recorder (like my SoundDevices MixPre3 II), can I record in 32-bit? Or is that feat just reserved for the internal recording on the transceivers? Absolutely brilliant job, Rode, bravo! 👏
@rodemic Жыл бұрын
Hey there- it's great to hear you're excited about the Wireless PRO! In the setup you describe, your recordings would technically be in 32-bit, but the added dynamic range that 32-bit float offers wouldn't be present in the recordings on your MixPre. That's becuase the audio from the reciever has been converted to 24-bit before the reciever outputs it. The exceptional dynamic range that 32-bit float audio offers would be found only on the recordings on your transmitter in this case.

Can you explain how I can delete the audio files please. The Rode Connect App on my MacOS looks nothing like the user guide
@RADERFPV Жыл бұрын
Open up the Rode Central app (a new firmware is out today, up to 1.2.3 now). On the left hand side, you'll see your charging case, the receiver, and both transmitters. Select the transmitter that you want to delete recordings from, and there will be a setting cogwheel right underneath its name, on the left hand side. When you click that, you'll have a bunch of options show up for that transmitter, and one of the options is to delete the recordings. Hope this helps.

Hey there, there may be some confusion here. 😅 RØDE Central and RØDE Connect are two separate apps. RØDE Connect is an app for recording podcasts on your computer, and RØDE Central is for accessing your recordings and changing the settings on your device. If you're still experiencing issues with RØDE Central after downloading it, you can chat to our support team here: rode.com/en/support/contact

Can you make some kind of solution to combine the 2 or 3 Sets of Wireless PRO where we can use that set with more then 2 peoples. I want to use some time 4 people with 2 sets of Wireless PRO but I don't want to use the mixer. so is there any solution for that?
@rodemic Жыл бұрын
Hey @nexttvc, thanks for your feedback- there are in fact a few ways to record more than two people with our Wireless units. One would be to use a mixer like the RØDECaster, but as you mentioned that might not be ideal for your use case. Another way would be to use our RØDE Connect software on a computer, and plug in the recievers for all the sets you'd like to use, and they will all be recorded in sync with one another on separate channels. Just note that while many RØDE customers use multiple sets of Wireless devices at a time, it can increase your risk of RF interference, especially if you're recording in an area with many Wi-Fi signals. This is a part of wireless recordings, but the high quality 32-bit float backup recordings which the Wireless PRO creates make to easier than ever to hit record with confidence that you'll have great audio in your final product.

Please sell replacement lock rings for the mics. Already lost 1 since they don't stay on, and almost lost the other but luckily found it. Also, new foam windshields for the lavs fall off incredibly easily. Lost one of those too, could you please sell 5 packs or something? They just simply will get lost if filming run and fun style.

@rodemic Жыл бұрын
Hey popcornparam. Great question- time information can be utilised on the Wireless PRO in two potential ways, either in relation to the time of the day where you are, or in relation to a point in time you can choose yourself. If you decide to use "time of day" timecode, then yes, you will be able to change this easily via RØDE Central.

This is awesome! I was having an issue where I was getting an interference buzzing noise when mounting directly to the top of my cameras hot shoe. This was the GO II, but it did still happen with a few other brands versions I tested. I did manage to fix it buy either mounting it more to the side or using ferrite rings on the cable. I know this is more a camera issue, but another brand I use released a revision to their wireless system that fixed this to me.
