shortcut for this questions is Avg + (increase or decrease in Avg X total new quantity) = 48 + ( 1 x 16 )= 64

Simple ways If 48kg is average of 15 people So total weight = 15*48 = 720 After a new person come it becomes 49 Total weight= 16*49 = 784 Hence new person weight = 784-720 = 64 I respect your efforts to teach but this tricks sometimes irritates students minds in exams

Because we have divided each term with 9. So 9 becomes 1, 99 becomes 11, 999 becomes 111..and so on!

if you have hard time understanding the concept towards the last questions. Just think of average as sum that is written upon the bar when making calculation of average. Always consider individual values as equal to average value and add or minus as the question suggests.... To do this fast, visualize in you mind the adding and subtracting of values...

for the second question i feel, it should be phrased properly as terms keep on increasing otherwise it is mentioned "follows the same pattern" assuming 348 , 364 and 380 will repeat . Hence, average will be 364

Can we do the second question as we know there are 12 terms in series and the average is sum of 6 and 7 th term so 6 term is addition of 16x5 = 80 to 348 so we get 428 and similary 7 th term is 16×6 is 96 so 7 th term is 444 and avergae of 428 and 444 is 436

Sir, for the star question, I have tried to generalize a formula F = A + N * C where F is the final value that is calculated a/t to the question, A is average, N is the total number after anybody leaves/joins, and C is the increase/decrease in average. For Q1: F = 48 + 16 * 1 = 64 Sir, please correct anything wrong with this approach.

am i wrong for doing it like 1+15/2=8, so the 8th friend has 48kg weight. so when 16th friend comes 1+16/2=8.5 and 8.5th friends weight becomes 49 since 8.5 doesn't come when we count from 1 to 15 so this becomes a pattern like 8th=48 8.5th=49 9th=50, which eventually tells us that 16th friend's weight is 64.
