The whistle out of the box is supposed to be 4014’s and if you set CV224 to 1 you will get 844’s whistle. At least it sounds the closest. I have my 844 in the pro lighting mode just so I can control each light function. Great video and can’t wait for part 2.

Like your reviews,thankyou.I ve seen bout 3 reviews of this loco,& the first thing I look for ,in a loco review,is the slow speed capability.This thing,out of the box,was abysmal.Just as well cv 2 was able to be adjusted. I bought a BLI Blueline big boy,off ebay,last year,put a really good Zimo decoder ,in it,& by god,you shold see how slow it runs! Speed step 1 & this thing,I can only just see it move.With the sound(no smoke),would have to be THEE best steamer,if not the best loco,period, I have.I have ,last count, over 300 locos,mostly diesel.Thankyou again.

That small little hole is the pipe for the air compressor exhaust I remember cuz I remember seeing the 844 in Fort Worth Texas back in 2010 and I remember hearing the exhaust of the air compressors hissing out of that short pipe

Looking forward to this Matt! (as of commenting its two hours from premiere). Since this and Trix's version is how it appeared in 2016, will you please show us what details we need to add to the model make it accurate for excursions service in 2021+?

Does anybody know how prototypically accurate the pre-2013 (W/ Mars Light) #844 model is? Specifically the marker lights on the tender. I currently own the Athearn version and I'm thinking about picking up one of these but I'd rather not if it's less accurate.

My Roco 63353 USA loco is boxed like the old Mth packing.. Packed to a high quality..the new packaging on most companies now looks very cheap considering the price of the locos..

Broadway did a cooperation with Märklin/Trix. That’s the Märklin packaging. Märklin is 3 rail system. Both model are the same but Märklin change the colour of the smokebox and change the sound. You can see a video of it on my channel if you want to compare.

It is impressive to see that Broadway Limited Imports has produced a Union Pacific fef model, if I desired to I would purchase the locomotive featuring the "two tone grey" paint scheme. These engines are somewhat overpriced at a price tag msrp of $700, which is even more expensive than the MTH ho sp gs4 loco which is outrageous to think about.

Agree with you on the packaging got a new paragon 4 I1sa and the side panel managed to scratch off part of the road number on the cab. So far not impressed with Bli’s new packaging.

I like BLI but i had the same poor slow speed control with a 2019 Challenger. But with the older 261 Milwaukee slow speed and start are much better!? Such a shame 😒

They totally left the back of the tender blank.... there is supposed to a water fill line and the connection lines. The mu bracket and other things It sticks out to me..

A 500 dollar plus train shouldnt come in a cardboard box thats substandard to 150 dollar models from other manfs....

@@budkole I didnt know what the box or model was going to be like before buying it. You have the luxury of seeing this video and others and deciding for yourself. When I spend 500 dollars on something I expect things to not go backwards on quality. Its my money and my opinion.
