the whistle on the blueline prr j1a and prr t1 is my favorite, very easy to quill as well unlike latter versions paragon 2, 3, 4. sad to see broadway abandoned it. it was perfect. this one is quite nice too though

Hi @Matt, On the M.T.H. Electric Trains Version of the Union Pacific Big Boy, the steam generator or dynamo which is technically the steam turbine is on that locomotive. However, it is on the Engineer's side. All that piping you say isn't prototype, is for the dynamo. You can see it there if you look carefully. When the Union Pacific Big Boy Steam Locomotives were first built, that is the version of steam generator they came with. Due to getting dirt and other debris of material, the steam generator was move from the Engineer's side to the Fireman's side, but on top of the boiling instead of hanging low. This solved the problem of the steam generator getting dirt and other materials in it. I hope that helps.

As time has gone on both of these models are now out of date compared to the new BLI that will be coming out with PTC and the correct dyanamos

@RodimusPrime , My point wasn't that it was out of date, but rather that all that piping is prototype because there is a steam generator on the end of it and it represents the locomotive when it first came out. Due to experiments it was later changed because of performance problems with the steam generator. I guess it all depends on what time line you plan on modeling.

I wish there could be a way I can get a Challenger like this that would be fun don't u think? But except I don't wanna hear it with sounds if I had something like this I would ask somebody at a train shop to take out the sounds and then have this engine like a DC/Analogue engine without any sounds I just don't like these sounds because there too loud and I don't like hearing things that are too loud like y said in the video.

Good luck with your situation. This country is getting too hard to live in. My rent also went up by 50%, and I'm lucky enough to have my son to help out with expenses. Your videos were great to view and you had lot of good information about the modeling industry. Take care.

As I saw you use an ESU Ecos. Does it have trouble to Programm BLI decoders? Like changing CVs and DCC addresses?

There had been an interview with ScaleTrains recently. After the J-Class they will bring the Berkshire then the Daylight then the Challenger and then the Yellowstone 😅

Hey quick question, I just got one of these, I thought I heard it on your video as well, is some gear noise at higher speeds normal? It’s like a little quiet grind a little and I think I heard it here too. Lubed up the main gears under the wheel sets as well so it shouldn’t be dry

sometimes there will be a tad of metallic side rod noise, shouldnt be that noticeable with the sound on

@@Speedtail_Likes_Migs I've read about S1 and T1. Both locomotives are impressive. Unfortunately, fate was not very favorable to T1, including due to the fact that the United States began to move away from steam traction to diesel, as well as the problem associated with wheel sleep. But still T1 made a bigger impression on me. I even found his HO scale model on sale in Russia and he took his place in my collection dedicated to Pennsy. Even the Centepiede in my collection does not make such strong impressions as T1😂

BLI is wild for doing this locomotive! Gives me hope that other steamers that haven't been done in either plastic or, as brass hybrids, like Frisco 1522, might actually get produced, not to mention BLI has dropped some hints that that locomotive is possibly in the works as a future release!

Just bought one of those, but an older one with a QSI decoder. It runs great but the sounds...the engine sounds like it wont go past notch 4 or something. When accelerating, or "heavy load" option on, it always stays at lower RPM. Maybe I'm missing something as it's my first sound loco
