Rodney Atkins

Күн бұрын

After more than two decades in country music, it's hard to imagine that the Tennessee-born Atkins could still treasure the difficult moments and the arduous process of creating a song from the ground up. But he's just the kind of artist who loves the roots as much as the tree. With six No. 1 hits under his belt, four studio LP's and over 13 million units sold, Atkins is more invested than ever in making honest, authentic records that tell a story and showcase his unique place in the world, which is exactly what he does on his forthcoming fifth LP

My son and i would sing this song regularly. He always told me he would always be my buckaroo. He passed on April 19 2023 in a motorcycle accident. I miss my buckaroo every second of every day. Thanks for this song that gave me many memories with my son.

My dad wasn’t in my life besides early on and he was an abusive alcoholic but it doesn’t mean you have to be like him. @michiwood6856 i just used the portable weber grill he bought me for Christmas last year. Absolutely knocked it out of the park (apparently, because it was my first time grilling). Everybody was happy and I couldn't help but wish my dad was here to experience it instead of wasting away in a hospice bed. But, I called him and told him, and he was overjoyed. Ended the call early because I could tell he was about to cry. Gonna miss the hell out of that man. Bless you and your family. Thank you so much for your kind words.

When I was little, like seven years old, I was such a daddy's girl and I would sing this song to my dad over and over again. Anyway I had totally forgotten about it and I'm 17 now and will be 18 in August. About a month ago my dad died and this song just popped into my head and I looked it up and this is the first time I cried since I found out he died and it really helped. I don't think I'll ever forget about it again.

@Kentuckydude775 Thank you so much for your heartfelt comment! It's definitely been a crazy ride! Words couldn't describe the feelings that were spiraling as soon as I got to hold him for the first time. I still can't believe it sometimes. Of course, it's had its many challenges, and I, too, am learning so much about myself and life in general. Making and learning from new mistakes and treasuring every moment that I'm blessed to spend with him. If you really want it, just know that you can prepare as much as you'd like, but there's nothing that could truly prepare you for what's to come. As long as you're resilient and loving, that's all you need to have a foundation. From there, only experience and time will provide the building blocks to shape you into the great parent that I'm sure you'll get to be :)

Man, I don’t cry, but this make me choke up. I very nearly lost my dad that same year. This song popped into my head just now and I looked it up. Your comment reminded me of what I nearly lost and what I’m blessed by God to have around still. We really need to love our fathers, cause we don’t know when they’ll be gone.

I've cried many times from this song thinking of my dad that I don't see that much anymore. I used to see him every other weekend because my parents are divorced (they have been since I was 1 years old). I'm currently 14 and I saw him the first time in 2 years and I missed him so much. I used to always get mad at him and think I "hated" him and now I come to realize that you have to cherish every moment with your parents you have because you won't have them forever. I LOVE YOU DAD

This sounds so much like my cousin that past away last year, he too was an electrician, had a son who is now 14. His parents weren't abusive (At least that I knew of). By any chance you life in Kansas? If you do I think I know who you are, & like I said on the phone, I never met you but I know he's proud of you. I'm seriously thinking I got the right person his name was Kevin right? If not, man your story hits home so much.

My dad passed Monday night. Ever since I helped my dad haul leaves back to the compost pile with my little toy wheel barrow I've wanted to be just like him. The hardest working man I've ever known. My mom always played this song when I was really really young. Father was out of my life when I was about 5, grew up very poor. I'm going on 23 in a few months, have a great career and I am expecting a son in April and I am gonna make sure he hears this song for the right reason.

Lost my dad when I was 19 8/22/11. This song described the bond my father and I had. Now 27 I will be opening up for Rodney in September with my country band and you better believe my father's drums will be on that stage. Rock on Rodney and rip David Pine (Dad) 9-22-54/8-22-11.

I struggle to listen to this song, as my father died about two years ago as of last December. This was, as many would put it, " his song to me." It also helps me remember what he looked like, and is also one of the few things that makes me cry just by listening to it. If you have lost your father at a young age, I am truly sorry. Just know that one day, things will one day get better. I speak from experience.

I was 10 when this came out. When my dad and I were in the car and this came on the radio, my father said that this was the first time he heard that song. I said that "it was my favorite song and that it reminds me of you and our relationship and how you took in me as your own" that day, I saw my father cry. And they were tears of happiness. That statement still holds true to this day. This is and will always be one of my favorite songs.

This song has always been my dad's and my favorite song. My parents split when I was very little and I was very close with him until I was 14. He passed 07/27/2022 and I didn't get to say goodbye, I play this song every morning and act like we're still singing it together. His celebration will be next weekend and this will be the first song to play there. This song has helped me a little to get through this, this song will forever live as long as I'm alive

melts my heart, This came on the radio yesterday when me, my son, age 10, & 2 teen daughter as well, were swimming at the ymca, i ran home to grab my their step-dad his migraine meds... my son has been acting like him, he's never been this happy, his older sisters told me.. He even said, Mom, I want to get a necklace like Owen so when I go home, I will remember him, he picks out his clothes to match his step-dad's, its adorable!!! And Ive never been this happy.. their biological dad is just a jerk to women, It always worried me, until yesterday my son Aidan said the sweetest thing when we were it the kiddie section of the pool, he said "mommy? If I ever have a girlfriend, I think I will buy her flowers, roses probably like your tattoos mommy" A: That's wonderful son, I'm proud of u, u have a great heart!! I love my children SO much, it flies by so so fast!! truly does, they all are getting so big, my girls are young but very smart and mature!! I

I used to listen to this song as a child 8-10 and enjoy it. It was a sweet song. I listened to the song as a teenager. 12-16. And I’d wonder about how I’d be a father and what being a dad would be like. Now 26 searching this song out to listen to because my 6 year old son I raise who isn’t mine looked at me tonight and said before bed. Thank you for raising me. I used to wonder what it’d be like to have a son or if he’d be a little mini me. I have the most wonderful son in the world and I will watch over him always.

(I know that this is a little more off topic) but I’m a fourteen yr old dancer and this song is one of the many reasons that I’m so careful about what I do and say when I’m around our little dancers because I know that their brains are like little sponges that absorb everything we do and say because I know how much they idolize and love us and I truly believe that the “big girls” really truly helped raise me and helped me become the person I am today so this song is such a reminder to be mindful about how we act around the younger generation 🫶🏼
