Hey brother, thanks for the video. I wanted to point out that you are the first person i have ever actually liked and subscribed to on youtube. I'm a crappy fisherman, on a crappy 8 foot surf kayak, but drop shots and spottys are about my favorite thing to do, next to drops and sculpins. Thank you for putting yourself out there, doing rad things, and explaining how you do it. I kinda learned on my own and adopted the philosophy of "if you cant tie a knot tie a lot." You are legit the dude that taught me how to rig a drop properly. Thanks brother, and cheers to you and your fam.

Nice video Rodney, thought i would pitch in. Alot of people don't know exactly what those square concrete cubicles are. Those are the end of the T sections of old navy piers. The pilings came up from the beach directly in the middle and then split out to them. Telephone pole pilings, concrete with asphalt, so you could drive vehicles on them. So lots of good structure left on the bottom too. I fished some of the remaining ones as a kid. Thanks.

Hey Rodney, I have question regarding your Palomar knot at the 2:50 mark in your video. You have a step that’s not typically noted in the standard Palomar knot info graphic directions online ... it’s the step after pulling the tag end back through the hook, but before conducting the overhand knot ... I payed close attention and was able to tie a drop shot that was better than any drop shot knot technique. Would it be possible to maybe put out an instructional video or step by step in your reply? Big fan of everything you do brotha and appreciate all your content! Only have a solid year under my belt of obsessive fishing haha, but I can say with confidence that you’ve personally improved my fishing game 10-fold by providing knowledge and techniques that I’ll utilize probably forever. I always enjoy watching your videos! I used to live in San Diego for about 8-9years and I miss the year round fishing. I have fished alot of the lakes and bays you fish so it brings back memories of my best times in Cali. It's funny, any time I get a chance to visit I always hit the water there and usually a couple of my family members ask to go along. For the most part I put us on the fish and they usually tell me of what a struggle it is for them to catch one. But I know it's commitment, dedication and respect you have for what you enjoy doing!! I now live in Juneau AK where I am from and I am patiently waiting for the ice to melt and the temp go up so I can go trout fishing. Alot of my tackle and technique is what I learned down there. So fish here are used to seeing spoons and spinners so after a couple of fish they wise up and quit bitting. But you put a tube jig on or a 2" swimbaits two hours later you will move on because I am pretty sure you have caught ever fish in that spot. Anyways I enjoy your videos, thanks Josh H.

Hey Rodney, just watched a couple of your videos. I grew up in Alaska, so I have a deep love of fishing. My girlfriend is slowly starting to get the fishing bug, so I'm watching more videos of San Diego fishing for us to maybe try out. Thanks for the tips. We've only fished from the pier, so I'm trying to branch us out. I ordered some of warbaits hooks and some of the lures you showed here. Do you have any tips for pier fishing ? I guess I'll search more through your videos to look around, but figured since I'm leaving a comment I'll ask as well!
@RodneyMarquezFishingChannel4 жыл бұрын
Hi Vanna! Welcome to the fishing world! I do hope you and your girl find it amazing here. Pier fishing is the one topic I have not done yet on my channel, However Now i am really eager to make a video on how to pier fish in san diego! but for now, My recommendation is using a sabiki rig (that you can buy from walmart) and use 1/4 inch slices of squid, mackerel, or shrimp on each of the hooks on the sibiki rig. cast far, let it drop 2 seconds with a 1/2 oz weight, if not bites, cast again and repeat :)
