oh wow, this is super cool to see! i just came back to this series recently for nostalgia's sake and i've held onto the theory that rodrick isn't as stupid as he seems for a good while. it's awesome to see that someone else thinks this could be the case as well. honestly, rodrick almost seems like he was written for an older audience from the beginning - it's easier to understand why and how he pulls off the stunts he does, even though they're ridiculous and exaggerated, when you've lived long enough to relate to the reasons rodrick would do many of these things. i think it just takes a more developed brain to "get" rodrick, and a lot of the 2000s kids reading the series back then didn't have that yet.

I discovered Diary Of A Wimpy Kid, from my freaking school library. primary. School. Library. I mean yeah maybe teachers do HATE this series because after this series was added to the library… oh boy, oh boy teachers regretted adding it… because literally EVERYONE in the school read this series. And when the library day or book week came up or something, everyone got an assignment to wrote about their favorite book. And about 80 percent of the kids EVEN FROM FROCKING 1ST GRADE wrote about diary of a wimpy kid. And it mostly was the same information from Wikipedia or something.
