In the 1800s, John A. Roebling immigrated to America and soon gained notoriety for producing wire rope that was later used in building the Golden Gate Bridge and Brooklyn Bridge.

I have a Victorian letter openers that was a trade stimulator piece from the Roebling wire rope company. It is among a vast collection of this sort of giveaway letter opener from many of the manufacturing giants that built this nation. I have recently offered the collection of over 100 individual items for $3000.00
