I kinda have bittersweet feelings, I miss dragon hunter and reno decks in standard, you could be greedy and have really good tempo at the same time but I swear god I don't miss the control warriors and priest making every game go to fatigue, that was hella boring

haha, everyone knows the game ends at 10 mana. the game tried to give you more mana, but it can’t, so it crashes. that’s why blizzard made the decks so fast in the meta right? right?

I had a weak spot for Dragon Priest. It felt like you were playing an actual mid-range deck for board control. Strong clears to recover against faster decks, and resource generation that let you play a value game against decks with bigger minions than you. It's a deck that could have a fair match against almost anyone.

Plague of Death only ever beat out Psychic Scream in control matchups where you didn't want to give the opponent more resources... but I can't remember the last time I had one of those and didn't have a quicker win condition.

Psychic scream was a lifesaver vs baku pally where them drawing a 1/1 was a great break. So it even has the benefit of giving bad resources. Also even in control if the opponent was Highlander you could add dupes to the deck.

Agreed. Frankly, I couldn't believe Psychic Scream when it released -- 7 mana to remove a board without triggering deathrattles was blatantly powerful, and at the time I didn't even think of using its 'downside' to pollute an opponent's deck. Plague is what Scream should have been -- paying extra mana rather than less for the silence effect, and minions die properly.

13:50 seems like a misplay; you'd want to buff the minion with 6 health so that there's a greater chance of more than one of the Rag shot hitting your minions. Like, still a high chance you just die from it anyways, but this would create a possibility to where you theoretically live, despite the loss of board. Unless I'm missing something with how the Rag shots interact with deathrattles.

I feel like there are few misplays 1) What you said. I agree. 2) Picked Wax Rager as Priest with Seance, which is kinda anti-synergy with Kazakusan. 3) Not picking Reflection after Wax feels like letting go of superpower.

This was one of my fav decks back in the day, You could get some serious tempo in the early game with the dragons, and operative was so sick, It got you other classes death knights on a regular basis lol.

I feel like the idea for Archivist Elysiana came from one of the Devs girlfriends, and when it rotated out she got mad at him, so he was like, "HERE, I MADE IT FOR YOU AGAIN, BUT BETTER." What a good boyfriend. You know who else would make a good boyfriend (and a super fun deck to watch), maximum elementals Ozruk, because all the ladies could BREAK THEMSELVES UPON HIS "BODY". 😉 10/10 Would love to see such a deck played. The kazakusan “restriction” is yet another example of the devs not being in touch with their own game. It’s not a restriction much less you can just draw your deck or tutor all minions. It should have been play 10 dragons.

@@pycckueopexu9043 eh the whole play it early is because most decks refuse to actually have reactive strategy involved the treasures are a bit underwhelming when you have cards that actually counter them. Hell spyglass won me several games by the merit of getting non treasure cards. Playing it super early is a bit silly if your opponent is prepared. I’ve had more trouble with turn 6 onyxia. However late game combined with actual cards from your deck the treasures can be more powerful thus the whole needing to play dragons at least stops some of the more braindead versions and stops him from being an auto include for any control deck even if it runs no dragons.

You’re way more toxic for suggesting that. Most supposedly board based decks that you’re on about are the original solitaire ignoring my board and going face then crying when I clear theirs.

@@johnj4471 man you can call it solitaire but it plays minions that can be responded and it might not take that much of thinking but control doesn't do so anymore, just watch how it is played, you don't need to think about how to control the board, you just play your spells and if you have the clear you use it, if you don't have you cry, that's how control works and that's why combo decks exist, to put that garbage in it's place

@@henryy.4878 I mean sure dude, but then you can watch standard in which people only play druid, warlock is still more combo based, shaman in standard is more into burst, board doesn't feel like a key factor anymore for many decks, even if there are things like pirate warrior it isn't really fun, it's board based but doesn't fight for the board since you have infinite value you can just go face like a monkey, what I miss about the game was the interesting fight for the board against tempo decks, lemme ask you, into which decks are you into?

@@bromora989 guff should have never been made along with a list of about 20 other recent cards that literally make other older cards broken. “Mechathun is balanced being 10 mana and you usually can’t do something else in the same turn that’ll clear the board or empty your hand or both” Guff and Rod: hold my purse.

So what I have 7-8 mana” “Let me just draw cards or thin the deck whilst also gaining armour, summoning minions or both!” And then when it gets to aggro it’s instead just then creating dumb shit like arbor up.

@@bromora989 it’s a 2 card combo for the armor that is also something they would have preferred to use solar on something offensive. So it’s not like there isn’t a cost benefit there. Is it strong? Yes but playing any card that’s cheaper like branching is also typically a loss in the long run. They could have played that combo at 30 health and the effect is the same. I’ll agree with the token bs is and has been out of control for a while. Oh look we moved savage roar to wild but here’s arbor up with is arguably better. The natural ramp however is not a problem. Guff is free ramp or draw. It should be one or the other or even neither. There’s literally no time that you wouldn’t play him on curve.

everything in wild seems so much more interesting and fair (coz there is a ton of strong cards/combos/decks). standard is only good when you want to face very predictable decks when to busy to think of a good deck

Yeah, no, it only seems that way because Roffle shows the more interesting games in his videos. 80% of the time, you queue up into hyper-optimized decks with years worth of support. Do you like Pirate Warrior? How about Pirate Warrior with more consistency and aggression than ever seen in standard? How about a combo deck that can consistently combo you on turn 6? How about Freeze Shaman that renders your entire board irrelevant for 4 turns in a row while smacking you in the face with a 10/10? Sure, once in a while, you run into a fun deck, or something unique, but it's mostly just the same 5 or so decks, several of which can easily kill you on turn 4 with a half decent draw

@@cinansnickem228 i play wild... so yeah... ofc i dont compete for high ranks i prefer to sit at platinum and have fun. ofc even there u meet these hyperaggro and ofc freeze shaman happens in standard too and in wild it also has shudderwok for perma freeze, card draw, loatheb or the minion that prevent even hero power and even plate breaker so if he gets what he wants against ur class u cannot win with any deck.
