Hey folks! In today’s video we’re back with another unseeded high score Balatro run. Early in this run, I made a commitment to building towards a Hack and Idol after getting a single Red Seal Polychrome 3. From there, it was just a matter of finding those and other supporting Jokers to take this run to the moon. Enjoy the video!

I find the Mr. Bones comments really funny, people do not understand exponents. For anyone wondering, to win the final round shown in the video with Mr Bones, you would need to score 75% of the round requirement. 75% of 9.700e50 is NOT 9.700e12.5, it is 7.275e50

Yeah, exponents really takes some time to get your head wrapped around until you're exposed to it. That said, I'm pretty sure Mr Bones is 25%, not 75%. Not that it makes ANY real difference.

Just for reference. * Roffle needed 9.700e50 * Roffle got 2.710e47 9.700e50 is x3,579 times bigger than 2.710e47 Roffle would have had to get 5 glass approximately 3,579 hands to score enough for the last ante.

Exponents are extremely simple to understand, they're just so mind-bogglingly large that it's difficult to grasp intuitively. However, the simple explanation is this: Exponents are effectively just a shorthand for a LOT of 0s. So, 7.275e50 is this number: 727500000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 This means that, in the same way that half of 100 is 50, half of 1.000e50 is 5.000e49. Or, to use simpler numbers: 1.000e10, half of which is 5.000e9 100,000,000,00 500,000,000,0 Same principle, just way more zeros. Exponents sound scary because they're such a large number, the human mind is simply incapable of conceptualising it, but when you realise that going up 1 exponent is just multiplying by 10, things are way simpler.

It’s funny how my 6-year-old nephew understood exponents better than chat after just one simple explanation while he watched me play Balatro. “See that e30 right there? Uncle’s scoring e27 right now. The difference between e27 and e30 is like adding three zeroes, kind of like the difference between 10 and 10,000. Now, even if you multiply 10 by 6, which is how many times I can play my hand, 60 is still ridiculously far away from 10,000!”

It's a math thing. People don't get what the E stands for and they just brainrot thinking that e47 is really close to e50. It's a factor of a thousand. And overcoming that doesn't happen with a single polychrome. 😂

I'm coming to this video fresh off an insane run. I got an early DNA and Hologram start, and I kept cloning red seal kings praying for a Baron. I hit Baron, followed about 2 shops later by a Trib, followed even later by a Sock and Buskin. I proceeded to then get constant flush fives, but the Mark got me on ante 13 because I still had a bunch of queens and jacks. I haven't been playing for a while, so I'm just glad I got to get a run like that.

great run! when you found the third brainstorm, you might have been able to sell Dusk (instead of showman) and go for another blueprint/brainstorm since you were scoring well above the ante. I guess score-wise in the long run it wouldn't have mattered, but could have produced a 4th brainstorm :)

I just got the most ridiculous unseeded run on Yellow deck/Red Stake 5VGBXWXY. After I got a great joker team assembled, I kept getting great negative jokers in the shop and my basic team included Hanging Chads, Yorick, Blue Print.

I feel like maybe I'm missing something... But wouldn't the brainstorm at 1:20:00 be better replacing the dusk than the showman, hoping to draw another hack/idol/blueprint/brainstorm? Like for this deck setup isn't dusk just worse Hack? I guess it's power neutral vs showman is power up, but there was plenty of headroom with glass anyway, still time to get the power up?

why bother tho? dusk is annoying sure but it's not meaningfully worse than hack. Plus if you whiff on rolling (very possible with that income, I've been there) you just wasted your showman - might as well just get to your final build right there.
