Hi, Im the guy who discovered the seed, thank you for showcasing it, I haven't actually seen it been played on gold stake yet! And yes, the deck is indeed caused by a bug in how erratic decks are generated, so anyone who wants to try it out, should do so sooner rather than later, as I so fully expect this to get patched. @@MegaMeister123 Well first of all, thats already an insanely low chance, but that only accounts for the rank, not the suit of the card. But miniscule possibility doesn't inherently mean bugged, you are correct in that. The reason we know for a fact, is because MathIsFun, the wonderful maintainer of the software we use to search for specific seeds, dove into the game code, and basically traced how the games seeded rng generated this deck. He found that at some point in the process, the rng system for this seed generates an invalid value (NaN for you programmers), and this causes the deck to be all ten of spades.

I’m not saying it’s NOT a bug in the pseudo-random code - it seems to be - but what people forget is that this deck is exactly equally as possible as any other. If the seed generator was truly random, with enough possible seeds, it’s not only likely, but inevitable that we will find decks like this. And remember, it’s not like someone stumbled upon this deck, in play, it was found specifically by search tools.

1) it's not physically possible for all decks to be equally likely because there's not enough seeds for all of them 2) you're overcompensating here. Your normal erratic deck is not going to be very notable, and it wouldn't change too much if seven of the queens you got there were any other suit. It's not like anyone posts seeds where like 40 of the deck are the same card. It's always 52.

That's going at it kinda backwards. That's true but all the other decks in the ≈3 trillion possible seeds are also literally the same odds. A deck of scrambled cards is 1 in 52^52 just like a deck of 10 of Spades is 1 in 52^52. It's not even impossible that it could have ended up in that subset of around 3 trillion random seeds, because it's not any more or less random than any other combination. We just give it special attention because the entropy of the values is different. Yes it's still a code bug, but it's still not impossible either. In fact there are 52 ways for a deck to have all cards the same, because there are 52 unique cards. So I guess the odds of a deck having all cards being the same card are actually 52 in 52^52. Still not good, but it's better. Pick up a piece of sand. Is it impossible that you picked up that piece of sand? Think of how many grains of sand there are on Earth, the odds of you picking up that specific piece of sand are impossible. So how did you pick it up? The question doesn't make sense, because that's not how you selected the sand grain. That almost gets into some Schrodinger's Cat territory when you think about it.

​@@hedgeearthridge6807this is distinctly unlikely, if you plot the average generated deck after a 1 million sample size or more, you most likely won't have even gotten this deck but even if you did it would be at a far extreme of standard deviation. More importantly, there is only one way this can happen, when all cards generate as ten of spades. A deck that is 51 ten of spades, but with 1 ten of diamonds, could happen 52 different ways, by having the 10 of diamonds generate in any of the 52 available slots. Repeat cards are distinctly less likely than unique ones, and when brought to an extreme like this it's like flipping heads on a quarter 52 times in a row, but that quarter also has 51 other sides it could land on. It's nothing like the sand analogy.

Just played a run of this on mobile and got an idol. It procs every time because idol checks your deck and chooses a card at random from your deck. Insanely good, I was instantly making 1000 times my score beforehand.

It is a bug! The 10 of spades is the final entry in an internal list that the game references to build the erratic deck list, and that seed returns the maximum value repeatedly, so it returns the final entry on the list. Ironically because there's only 8 characters possible in the seed 1-9, A-Z, the chances of generating a full erratic deck of the same card even at all within the entire seed-space possible is such a tiny probability as to be functionally impossible with a truly random generation algorithm.

A bug would be if this type of seed was happening with higher than normal occurrences. By definition the randomness the Erratic Deck offers you would be bound to bump into at least one seed that gives you all of one type of card so long as seeds generate with at least 52^52 possible variations. They don't, seeing as they're stuck with a finite number of letters (26). If Balatro seeds had 63 possible letters there would be enough seeds to force (at minimum) every possible deck state Erratic could ever have

No, it's just a bug, this seed would be so incredibly rare that it's virtually impossible. The odds of a deck like this (all identical cards) occurring at all in the list of possible is something like 8.6e-76% chance if my math is correct. Plus we know roughly how it works. Something about the way the seed is handled causes it to return NaN, and the game defaults to a 10 of Spades.

Here Roffle hasn't used any tarot/planets yet (I believe) so could have taken one without downside but he was basically saving time - he will realistically never play those hands because of the all-10-of-spades-deck. But when you are playing you should consider skipping because you might get a Fool card soon - if your last used card would be more valuable for you to get again than a random planet that your run is not built towards, it might be best to skip. Most of the time you're not going to hurt yourself by taking a planet, it's just min-maxing.
