Wonderful timing to release this on the same day as GT7's biggest update so far but what can you do lol Quick FYI: The update doesn't really change much in the areas I talked about but I would probably have worded things a little differently had I known it would be so major. I'm away from home at the moment so sorry for not being more active answering comments and whatnot but hopefully people will enjoy this video regardless

For engine swaps: We should be able to just buy the car with the engine we want, purchase a new engine... and the crate engine shows up in GARAGE!!!!! For Special Parts: Unlocked after Collector 50 as new tab in Tuning Shop For Invitations: Add Race in Brand Central to each dealership with a Invitation that is unlocked when you own the rest of the brand collection.

Love that you approached this beyond the "must be microtransactions" angle. Kaz's stubbornness going from the series' greatest asset to its main problem is spot on. Seems like what was once innovative is now incredibly out of touch, and it's a shame.

I don't believe Kaz wanted it to turn out like this. The microtransactions part screams as if the SONY executives saw it as a prime opportunity to cash in, and in potentially forcing microtransactions into the game, they threw Kaz and Polyphony under the bus. Playstation is not the same company it once was.
@mafiousbj
@mafiousbj Жыл бұрын
Happens with a lot of Japanese creators, mostly because the Japanese culture is very stiff and respecting of hierarchy, so nobody from the Polyphony team would dare criticize or discuss something with Kaz. Happens a lot with western devs too. Once they get on a pedestal, their word is law even if they run their franchise or game to the ground (just look at Mighty Nº9 for example)

I really don’t think it has anything to do with SONY. They are capable of adding micro transactions to a game and having it still work. This is a terrible example of micro transactions in a game, like a horrible mobile game by a first time publisher.

The people who say that people who have a problem with grinding are "entitled" or "not willing to work hard" seem to forget something: Video games are _entertainment._ I play them to be _entertained._ If I wanted to put forth effort and work towards something, I would work more hours at my job, that gives me money. If I want something to be hard, I want it to be challenging, not just wasting my time with meaningless repetition. I would rather go play a legitimate Soulslike over a grind-heavy MMO any day.

No, the real problem is that their argument is an example of basic first-order thinking and ignorant indifference to the distinction between "grinding", "playing" and "wanting stuff for easy/free"

@@UnitSe7enIf I have to repeat content for the explicit purpose of being _allowed_ to continue the game, then that is grinding. There are a few usages of that definition: One of which being difficulty in the roguelike community, where you "grind" out runs for the purpose of better understanding the game, and getting better skilled at it. The other definition, and the one I and others are using, is where you are arbitrarily required to repeat that content not due to an issue of skill, but rather to say, acquire currency that will allow you to unlock progression. That currency may be literal, it may be XP for levels, it may be something like the reputation (?) system in Diablo 4. This is often an issue in JRPGs, where regardless of how good you might be at the game, some enemies will just curb stomp you if you are not the appropriate level. Or more egregiously, something like Transmog in Destiny 2, where the actual playtime required to acquire the items in question make that method of acquisition nearly impossible; where it is explicitly designed that way to encourage you to spend money. IMO, Warframe, while not as bad, is a game I quit for the same reason. Missions that took twenty minutes or longer giving me single digit numbers of resources when I need hundreds. I'm not going to spend hundreds of hours on your game just because I am required to. Especially when there are games that don't force me to do that kind of thing, entire genres for that matter. I don't have to grind significantly to get satisfying gameplay from most metroidvanias. I beat Momodora in 10 hours. I can just sit and play a level-based game like Halo and go start to finish with no grinding. Even in games where it is acceptable, I did not grind once in my 60+ hour playthrough of Grim Dawn. And as much as I suck at it, there is no arbitrary restriction stopping me from finishing or experiencing the content in Danmakai: Red Forbidden Fruit. Playing the exact same content over and over and over and over and over *_isn't fun._*

I think it's less the players who don't want excessive grind being entitled and more copium for those who've wasted time grinding ("I had to struggle so you must too" sort of thing). Also there's a difference between putting work into something to get more efficient/better at it and having to repeat the same activity over and over because it was implicitly designed to waste your time.

It's sad that even one of the highest selling playstation games feels like the accountant had more say than the artist. Also to anyone who says wah it'll get better from updates, the game was released as a full game. I bought a product that was "finished" I expect major updates to make it better but I would trade every major update for a game that's complete on launch.
@SIPEROTH
@SIPEROTH Жыл бұрын
The honest way to go about it is realease a more full game with less problems that rewards you winning events etc like old GT games used to do. After that you can realease 4 to 5 DLC packages threw the years for like 15-20 bucks with every DLC bringing some changes the developer studied that can improve things along with a number of new cars you can win and tracks to compete and other extra stuff. This way you can avoid microtransations and all the issues that come with them along with having each player pay like 150-170 for everything. And most will anyway. Then after the game is old and a new GT is approaching, you can realease a full special physical edition with all content included for full game price and get some more sales from there too. Considering how well GT sells, that will be plenty of cash.

@@SIPEROTH 1. Excuse me, but 170 current bucks is WAY too much for a single game, even if we consider all the "duhhhh, the games become more and more expensive to develop; duhhh, da piracy protection; duhhh, Sony isn't doing great right now, etc." 2. This way of game building is cancer that will pretty fast devolve into current Paradox Entertainment situation: for a full price you get a castrated "ready" game that's playable for around 5 runs after which you have to buy more and more DLCs, most of which are just disguised updates, that often cost almost as much as the actual game in order to make your game and experience complete(especially if you want to play online and be compatible with other players)

You can't really blame the consumers for living in a car worshipping society after all. No, this primarily begins and ends at the investor and development stages of the game. The best way to increase revenue is to monetize small elements of the game and as much as possible and we do see that in GT7. In effect, it's been normalized by the industry to such a degree that this is why you see it as complacency instead.

23:04 Actually, in GT4 there was sth very similar to that, it was called "Track Meet", did cost 5 Cr. to participate in and was (to my knowledge) available on nearly if not every Circuit included in the game. It was basically a lobby where you would be on a Racetrack, together with 5 AI cars, and were able to drive as many laps as you want. You could do pitstops to change tires and refuel, your laptimes were shown and there was even a live Ranking from P1-6 depending on the fastest laptime of each Car. That meant that you could not only practice under "Free practice" condition on a Racetrack you shared with actual opponents but also had a sort of Qualifying going on for the whole time the Event lasted, so you were able to figure Out the Performance of your opponents' cars in comparison to yours on said Track.

That is because the public education system has totally failed in western society. The payouts drop when more people are selling a particular car than are buying a particular car. The payout rise when more people are buying a particular car than are selling a particular car. It is simple supply and demand. The proof for this is the fact that the car that clearly is the most owned and sold car, the GrB NSX Rallycar that everyone glitch dozens or hundreds of (I personally had over 200, still have almost 150). With the game online these "markets" would be fairly simple and straight-forward to design and program.

For me, the process of grinding was a big part of my enjoyment of GT, but GT2 and GT4 for example, had some great money grinding options and you didn't have to stick to only one, although most people are gonna say you only need to run the Capri Rally over and over again in GT4, and I did that to some degree, but there were also other options like the DTM championship which gave insane payouts and could be b-spec'd. I do want the grind. The grind has to be balanced though, with generous enough rewards that you can reasonably get any car you want in about an hour of work.

It doesn't even have to be just an hour. If you think how long we should actually be playing this title until the next GT comes out I would even be satisfied with a few days grind to get a special car by the end of the lifetime of the game you'd still have all the cars but only IF the grind is somewhat fun and not just the same race over and over again AND you are able to do more than very few races with this special car. I didn't play racing games since the PS2 and actually just started playing GT Sport a few days ago because I got it for free from a friend and fell in love with racing games again. I would have loved to be reminded of my childhood by playing the newer GT games and actually really wanted to buy GT7 but after I read about all the downsides of the game and how it is really not structured like a classic GT at all, I think I'm just gonna wait and see if there will be some meaningfull updates. If not then it's not worth my money and I really don't want to put my money into companies that make shit products and don't care for their customers and fans.

@@olafschmidt6512 I don't like to count on the idea that I'm going to play a game for so long. I like long games, but I'm not about forced longevity. If a game is good and I end up playing it for 5 or 10 or 20 years, that's cool, but when I played GT4 back in 2005, I wasn't thinking "damn, I sure hope this game has enough content to keep me hooked until GT5 comes out", all I wanted was to have a good time with the game. When I got burned out on it, I played other things. Sometimes I came back to it, and I still do. It's all organic fun. With GT7, if they can fix the career mode to actually be interesting and engaging, that's enough of a win to me. I am perfectly fine eventually being done with it and moving on from it. I just want it to be better than it currently is, because it has a lot of potential.

I think it should be designed so that if you have alot of ingame stuff ir are just skilled,everything is an effective way of earning money,and grinding should be replaced with challenge. Take the crew 2. There are some series where you have to beat multiple themed events for a special car,or custom version of a car. The events are fun,and challenging. But grinding,forces you to do something that isnt fun,for a much longer period of time,and without breaks,it can get to a point where youre so sick of it you just dont care about the car anymore,and cant be bothered to enjoy it like you normally would.im saying from experience.

I have compiled some of my thoughts here concerning the single player portion of the game as to ignite some discussion, so here we go: 1)My biggest gripe with the game is the choice to have quite literally all races begin with a rolling start. So here's my question.... why ???? It's a completely dumbfounding design choice as all races end up being the same. Every. Single. Time. You start last, and you go through 18 moving obstacles on wheels and catch up with whoever is leading. That's it. That's most definitely not racing. I don't understand the fascination with rolling starts either and for a game that prouds itself on its marketing about being a driving simulator... what exactly are you simulating ? All amazing worldwide races, be it Formula 1 or GT start with proper grid starts... so why ? Why not have the choice before each race ? Perhaps some prefer rolling starts (although I do not see how), so have it as a choice. Doesn't really seem like a difficult task. 2)Moving on from that curious design choice, another one is the actual number of relevant events to compete in. Picture this, you're a major racing game with the rights to tracks like Circuit de la Sarthe. I challenge you now, fire up your game and go to the arguably most important track in the history of motorsports, how many race events do you see ? And it's not just the low number of race events, it's how pointless they are. 3 events, one with 800pp and 161K credits as a reward on 5 laps. A 700pp one with 550K (825K clean race bonus) with a 30min duration, which is roughly 6-7 laps and one more with supposed hyper cars, no limits and a hypercar one with laughable 110k reward on 3 laps. See the issue ? On a game that's so focused on collecting and celebrating rare and amazing cars (that can reach upwards of 20.000.000 credits), you have only ONE race that's any good when it comes to time/reward ratio. How bizarre. Doing the Sardegna 800pp one where you spend around 26 minutes for 700k feels like time wasted when you know you could be getting 100k more with the Le Mans 700pp one for the same time spent. 3) This highlights the bigger issue with the game. Why on earth are there only so few events for all these legendary tracks ? And the ones that are there... Why are they so limited and restricted? I realized yesterday that there's no race on the Nurburgring Green Hell that I can race with my favourite JDM for example. Like... How ? After a certain point 99% of the races do not matter anymore. 4) Why are there no customisable options for events? I get the limitations that a Gran Turismo 3 might have in 2001 but it's 2023. There should be plenty of options when going into a race track. -Rolling Start or Grid start? -Race duration with equivalent reward increase -Qualifying... Why always start at the end ? (If not to counter the curious design choice of forcing rolling starts) -Time of day -Weather choice with reward increase on more difficult conditions -Limits and choice on classes and countries of origin. And for some perplexing reason all of the above exist in the game, but... It's for custom races that are completely irrelevant and offer nothing which is even more infuriating. 5) At any rate, moving on I believe we all detest the fortune wheel thingy and everyone agrees these practices have no place in a racing simulator like Gran Turismo. 6) What about the interesting choice of damage while racing ? So I hit a wall with my left side and for the next few seconds my car turns slightly to the right... And then magically it's... fixed. What ? How ? When ? Who in this God's green earth thought that was a good idea ? It feels like a children's game when that happens. 7) Lastly, I don't want to be that guy but firing up the game for the first time on my Oled, I was expecting to get blown away from the visual fidelity, and well.... I have to say it's semi-disappointing. The detail on the cars themselves is by all means industry defining but everything else feels like it's been copy pasted over from GT Sport, GT5 and GT6. For god's sake, trees are still 2d cardboards that turn to face you as you go by them. It's not 2004 anymore Polyphony, I believe technology exists currently that can for sure render a few 3d trees and their shadows... come on. And despite all of that I still feel the game is a solid 9/10. The driving feels impeccable, especially with the dual sense and in general it's an amazing improvement over the borefest that was Sport. Would love to hear the community's thoughts on my points. Want to see if others agree. Keep it civil friends, see you on the track! Sorry for the wall'o text btw xD

Spot on. I'm an OG GT player in my mid forties now and this game is worthless. GTsport was the final straw.. I do not want to be 'always online'. ..and the 20,000,000 credit limit is pathetic, especially when a 20m car takes so long to aquire, cannot ever win back the credits wasted on it. @MrSilnev
@MrSilnev Жыл бұрын
I do think on some level there is an element of greed when it comes to the microtransactions. Two things you didn't mention: 1. The credit bundle amounts are a bit suspicious in their values. You have a 100k bundle, a 250k bundle, a 750k bundle and a 2 million bundle. But that means that if you want 1 million credits (which alot of cars in GT7 cost 1 mil), you have to buy the 250k +750k which would cost $22. If that's the case then it's not unreasonable to see that someone might then think that getting the 2 mil bundle is better, since for paying just $8 more they can get 2 million instead of just 1 million. I do think it's somewhat sneaky of them to set it up like that. 2. Initially the game had a cap for how much money you could earn legitimately, but the credits you got from the credit bundles, had no limit to how much you could have at one time. They later patched it so that you could earn up to 100 million credits but the fact at launch it was designed to limit you like that was an odd choice. But anyone great video series.
@AKK5I
@AKK5I Жыл бұрын
1. Every game with credits has that system of buying bundles 2. That could more easily be explained by incompetence and they may have overlooked the credit cap being so low. They quickly changed it in one of the early updates

@@AKK5I My issue with the first point isn't that it features the bundles it's the way the credits are distributed. The fact they don't have a bundle for just 1 million credits, but yet have two bundles that would add up to a million exactly is a bit suspect.

Agreed with all you've said. One solution i think about, change race design by: -1 Unlock qualifying to every race. -2 The ia do no more wait the player. At least in the highest difficulty. Even the actual ia is quite capable when she decide not to stupidly slow down because we are 30sec behind and only 5 laps to come back. Sophy won't resolve this, if they keep this kind of setting to every race.

I had the opportunity to help review GT7 two weeks before release (reviewed and tested the PS4 version) and after around 70ish hours of playtime, everything you said in this series was pretty evident from the start. Extremely linear "progression", lack of any content and the general game design steering people to buy micro-transactions. The game structure was made in a way that only a new game from the ground up could fix it. For me GT7 is the best looking mobile-game ever made. All we wanted was a GT4 with today's graphics and updated driving physics, what we got was a car gatcha game. Atleast it's pretty. EDIT: regarding the part where you said that they could sell roulette but didn't, that's easy, they can't by EU laws, roulette tickets are literally gambling and the EU forbids that, even worse that they are rigged from the start... PD would go to curt after curt and very likely getting the game banned in all of EU. So yeah, if they could sell roulette tickets for money, they would.

You made a great point when it comes to gt7 reflecting reality only to make things tedious. The used car valuation for instance. The price fluctuation due to market trends is a great idea grounded in reality. But why is it OK to expect only about half the value of the car when selling legendary cars in the first place? Or even used cars that matter? Selling brand new cars for half the value after we use it, that's fine. But when has anyone who's bought a Toyota 2000GT or a Toyota ae86 sold it for half the value after the year 2010? If anything, these things appreciate in value over time. If car collection was a focus in GT7, how can this fundamental part of classic car ownership not be present? Since classic cars don't have nearly enough racing events, why not let us use them this way where they can appreciate slightly over time or with market fluctuations and earn money without having to race them. Better yet, reduce the value if the mileage increases by a LOT. If you wanna incorporate realistic aspects of car culture, it should work both ways. Also in real life, I don't have to wait and roll the dice on a roulette ticket to buy a 2jz or LS engine. I can just surf on Craigslist

When I saw the car lottery at the end of some events I remembered something I found out some weeks ago: Gran Turismo 2 had random car rewards as well. Pre determined models, but given at random from the list. I actually found out after looking for a 2000GT that I always had on every save, but not on my recent one, until I looked it up on the internet and found it out that it was a reward from an event that I happened to always win the 2000GT on every save I had but not this one.

I wouldn’t mind grinding if there was more to grind. As it is, Lemans 700pp is as boring as a dayjob. Yes, you can take a gr4 and have more of a challenge. Or you just want the money and take the Alpine A220. Mine has already had an engine and chassis refresh, and I don’t enjoy it anymore. But mr. Krabs wants money! I’d like to be uncertain about winning, taking a risk, but… money! It really is like a deskjob, unsporting but it pays the bills. So now I just grind doing low tier races all evening. Even pennies add up eventually, and it makes for a more pleasant evening. But you can arrange to win every race easily. I’d like to lose every now and then, even against AI, without regretting missing the payout. The handicap bonus in gts made sense to me, it invited me to try underdogs

For suggestions: Remove the cafe menues and replace them with old style events. For some you may win a specific car, for some you may get an unlimited invitation to buy a certain car. You could even have some brand specific events and as a bonus the game awards you with a randomly chosen invitation from that brand (which is removed from the price pool once you got it). Could even have a versus event (like Ferrari vs Lamborghini for example) and the reward depends on which brand of car you drive in the event. When it comes to some uprades I like the idea of there being more to them than just getting the money. Obviously repeated dice-rolls are not a good way of handling this, but maybe when picking an engine swap you get a challenge that would reward you said engine for that car. Things like "win one of these championships in a car from this manufacturer" or having a random race generated where you use one of their cars in, something like that. However it would be done, it should be repeatable but not repetitive. Your suggestion of making some races more profitable occasionally is a great example in that line of thinking.

Roulette wouldn’t be so bad if it were truly random. Even better if they hid the other prizes (like a car under a cover or a pallet with a tarp over) and just eventually showed whatever you won. That way it’s not constantly dangling goodies in your face and then slapping you 97% of the time with total shit prizes. That eliminates the feeling of dissatisfaction. Get rid of Sarah. She is nothing but annoying. If something doesn’t add anything useful and is just a nuisance it should get axed. The mission and circuit experience rewards should be repeatable. The races themselves should have a more varied high-payout option. There is no incentive to play 96% of the game after you’ve beaten it. Just drag through Tokyo a million times to grind 20 million for some car you’ll never touch. The game got OLLLLLLDDDDD real fast. It’s basically dead and no fun. I still play it though. I enjoy it. If I’m being honest, there’s just too many ways for it to have been better for me to consider it great. The ball got dropped so many times you would think they were dribbling a basketball.

I like your ideas for doing away with roulette tickets and replacing them with prize cars for championships, or milestones for driving cars. Another idea I’ve always considered for the engine swaps is to simply have to buy the car with the engine you want. It’s quite a bit simpler while still requiring more commitment than just paying for the engine itself (if you want the 4 rotor you’ll definitely have to work for it). Although, honestly I like your idea more. The fatal flaw of GT7s game design is it does absolutely nothing to incentivise actually driving different cars. The lions share of the content available in the game is the significant car library, but what use is that if you spend the entire game grinding the same 3 races with the same single car because the only thing for you to do is make money? Having specific milestones for every car which unlock specific upgrades, parts or cosmetic items gives incentive to actually drive every car to get the most out of them. Honestly I don’t understand how they could’ve fucked up this game as badly as they have. It feels like it was designed by a 4 year old. Although to be fair, 4 year olds would know how to have fun with cars.

11:30 You would be correct in that estimation, and I noticed that the second the Legends Car Dealership was announced. And really, it underlines all the problems with the GT franchise in general, especially since 5: Kaz isn't a bright eyed studio head who's trying to get across an idea that to him, is revolutionary (forgetting that racing sims even to the level of the original GT were present on PC for a decade before GT1 dropped, but I digress) This is Kaz of now, a guy who has spent so long in echo chambers so far removed from the reality of gaming in 2022, and really gaming in 2004, that he still believes that we are in 2004 and that the absolute apex of the GT series is still happening, when to the outside world, things have gone downhill so fast that it is amazing that reality hasn't pierced the bubble Polyphony, and Kaz live in. That explains the inflation of prices, especially noticeable in the JDM staples that GT made its name in. Kaz spends so much time at Concours d' Elegance events, and with jagoffs like McKeel from Hagerty that he (in my opinion, deliberately) thinks that what interests him also applies to the wider player base. It doesn't, not by a long shot, and it actively detracts from the game in general because it runs antithetical to what makes games fun. I really, honestly believe that Kaz has never been able to recover from Turn 10 and Forza absolutely beating the piss out of GT during the seventh generation, and it's caused so much psychic damage that it has reverted him back to the glory days of GT4 especially, clutching onto nostalgia pops like a toddler holding onto a blanket for dear life, because that was the last time the GT series was truly at the top of the genre and Polyphony were widely considered the cream of the crop of racing game developers. Since then, the industry has passed Polyphony by, consistently, and they have ignored the very noticeable problems with GT games under a belief that they (and specifically Kaz, because that's where this all stems from) can simply announce nostalgia pop cars can fix the problems and placate the crowds increasingly calling for substantive change for the series. Others have simply grown out of the series and moved to PC sims because they offer so much more then GT does, or cares to do. I really liken Kaz to Peter Molyneaux by this point: at best, he is a wide eyed optimist who has grand ideas, who shoots to implement them but falls short, and tells the fanbase that he'll try again next time. At worst (and I believe this to be the case now) he is a snake oil salesman who knows he can't implement these wider scope ideas he believes will revolutionize the industry, or actively ignores the advances done by others, and believes his cadre of fanboys (and believe me, even at this point they are still hilariously, sadly there) will defend his obvious shortcomings from those who wisened up to the act, and also knows he's in a powerful enough position as racing genre's elder statesman, and a large enough position of power within the Playstation board as one of the last remaining first party, Japanese studios in Sony's arsenal to get away with anything he wants. I thought that GT7's utter, abject failure would cause Sony to step in and either tell him to smarten up, or risk losing the franchise, but that's probably never happening, and therefore, the changes the series obviously needs will never happen either. So enjoy GT in this ruined, pathetic state everyone. It's never gonna change, and Kaz will die with the ship.

I've always thought you should just be able to 'convert' a car to the engine part you can fit in another, making for a bit of replayability they're looking for since you'd need to grind to get a version of that car to get the engine from like the 787B or the Escudo engines and it'd make the updates with new engines a bit more exciting for people since you could access them right away rather than having to rely on luck to access part of an update. If they also insist on keeping the tickets they need to scale with your collector's level and just remove the chance of getting lower star tickets entirely at certain levels so you don't get bad rewards at a higher level.

To me grinding is a punishment for failing to figure out an optimal path of progression. It's an option to fall back on if you haven't figured things out, or wish to take an entirely different approach. The optimal progression path should keep you capable of taking on next challenges with the required tools. Though some games do make grinding a more natural part of their design, like in SMT 3 gaining both player and demon skills is tied to leveling up, and obtaining specific demons requires taking on and experimenting with random encounters. So all in all either the game is designed so that grinding is never necessary, or that the game's design adds different layers to the grind to keep it interesting as well as a proper part of the gameplay loop. GT7 fails at this hard.

Week in, week out, millions of people go out with a set of clubs and a ball. If you’re focused on the ‘sport’ of automobile racing, much of what the ‘gamer’ seems to want is quite laughable. Again, pretty much spot on. And you haven't even mentioned Splitscreen Multiplayer, which was a huge draw to buy GT7 for a lot of people (myself included), and which still is broken/unuseable almost one year after launch, even though the bug was acknowledged and promised to be fixed immediately after launch. Yet here we are..

I spent 20 mil on the McLaren F1 race car. Only to take it online and learn it wasn't competitive. I tried to delude myself by saying "it's fun having to learn a completely different breaking point, apex, and throttle point than everyone else" while everyone else was blowing past me like I was a student driver. The whole game felt like that. Why have it if I can't use it when and where I want.

the irony of making a racing game with historical cars so you can drive them but: you cant afford them you cant use them they became just a flex. Just like in real life. I dont know where they trying to make an anticapitalist ad or what? lol

I still don't understand why they don't have races for the legendary cars. You have a sec race once a week with every car in the legendary collection, but you can only enter these races. If you own the car you cannot hire it. And I would make these races really high in their prizemoney so essentially there would be one daily race a week for the legendary cars if that's 52 weeks of the year then for 52 weeks there's gonna be 52 different races using the legendary cars. And if you finish last in the online race you still earn $200,000. That way you can recoup some of the money you paid for the legendary car. The thing is you can drop grinned away for weeks on end to get to 20,000,000 but there's no way of getting any of that money back. It's just bad video game design and if they got some video players together for a week they would soon see what's happenin

for me this game literally only needs one change and it'll be playable for a decade: fix the rubberbanding/handicap in custom races. it shouldnt be on if you've literally set the "Boost" option to "off". thats it for me. the 1H Spa race is a perfect example of how good the racing can be. literally just do this in custom races too

Feels like they're trying to appeal to both sides of the community, single player and sport mode, but failing at either miserably, honestly just a baffling game with tons of wasted potential in every aspect

Great video, everything you mentioned will dissuade anyone from playing. The format is very uncomfortable and with no end in sight because of the money aspect, specially buying credits, it's disgustingly expensive. I've been playing this series since the summer of 1998, I play loosely now, it's discouraging!

Hi I am new here I have a comment for gt7 If the game is basing cars on real world costs ie legendary cars in particular then when selling them they should retain their value if you need to sell them. Example if a 20 million dollar car needs to be sold the value should be 20 million plus or minus of whatever the market price is that day

My biggest issue is actually the online requirement for single player content. Mainly in terms of game preservation - what content will be available when the servers go offline? Plenty of us still play GT4 19 years later and I doubt the servers will be up for 19 years. Also, last time I moved house it took 6 agonising months to get phone line and internet up and running - I'm glad I wasn't a GT7 owner!

Unplug your router and find out. You get "single race" where you have to choose from a list of like 15 cars, not your cars, with tyre&fuel and preset weather. "time trial" mode you can actually use your cars, but none of your liveries will show up, fuel&tyre useage is there...but your car just drives through the pits and doesn't refuel/change tyres. And finally you have drift mode, you can use your own cars and Polyphony finally got their heads out their asses and let you drift the entire track, not just 2-3 corners. But none of them pay anything and your daily driving doesn't count towards anything. The bar will fill up and you'll get the scene where you get a ticket...but there's no way to claim them. Least in gt sport you can do your 2 laps around ssrX and get your daily driving bonus offline. Also, no more birthday cars like in Sport.

If they want realism, make the payouts wayyyy smaller, because race car drivers aren't exactly rich unless you're at the top. You'll have to sell your cars in order to buy new ones, maintain sponsor deals, sign with a team etc. Its like they want to recreate myteam from F1 but fail at every aspect of what it means to create a true career mode. Myteam isn't perfect in any definition, but its definitely a step in the right direction than whatever this is.

Finished the single player in 36h in one go because I was so excited but after another 2 months I got bored from the grind. Multiplayer being unfinished, laggy and missing features we got used to from GT Sport was the nail in the coffin. Uninstalled and I'm planning to pick it up in a year or two

Same man, with PD saying it's basically an unfinished game that has to be updated to become it fullest self, there's like no incentive to do anything other than wait for some magic at this point. ...that being said, I've been waiting for some time already.

It's clear the reason they wanted to make the game around car collecting is because they wanted to get people to buy credits. They thought they could pressure people into spending money. I'm glad this has blown up in their face. I'm hoping the new Forza turns out to be good cos if not we would have no realistic racing game with a good single player and a variety of cars.

That menu book bug was one of the greatest things, it wasn't just engine swaps but also the components you couldn't buy, like the biggest turbos or carbon prop shafts.... And all the brand central invites. Brand central invites are also annoying as sometimes they disappeared by themselves. So you'd get one and then three days later it would randomly disappear. Happened to me with Bugatti.

I got a bit disheartened when they brought in "cars in game need to reflect their value in real life" ... Yeah, because I want my video game car collection to be more like real life. Where I get to deal with the pain of importing anything from 60% of GT4's car list, from another continent, only decades after they're released, adding tons of fees, because the top heads of the domestic market I live in, long ago, didn't want to admit their cars are Bad and would rather ban the competition.

I'm playing GT4 right now with GT7 in my shelf. I just do not feel rewarded for my time in GT7 has I feel in GT4. The lack of B-spec mode does not help sense when I needed to grind I would play B-spec mode that to me was is relaxing.

With GT7 specifically. The whole gating things off specifically to wheelspins and menus sounds like an absolute waking nightmare to play. Especially for someone like me who wants nothing to do with random luck spins. I've been really wanting to play GT7, But obviously never going to get a PS5 just for it. But from what it sounds like. I would absolutely have a worse time on it than i have been with FM7.

Polyphony Digital built the game around the psychology of fear of missing out, the cars are just an addition to the game, the core gameplay is FOMO.
