When I was in Peace Corps in Bolivia (2000-2003) I got a USAID SPA grant for like $10,000 for a $40,000 gravity fed potable water system that fed 200 people... It was a community that was drinking from a river that had mining run off and also not much water flowing as a consequence of climate change... Now they're drinking water from on top of a mountain and pipe to a storage tank and from the storage tank pipe to the homes... Which also relieves the time they take to load the mules up with buckets of water from the river... Awesome mini schools and villages in rural Bolivia in Andes relay on USAID food Staples like rice, maybe sugar and cooking oil... Some of these communities aren't very harsh conditions and above 3000 m in altitude

I don't know when ppl will realise we are ONE species with ONE planet. We'll either all thrive together, or all die together. Especially in such an interconnected world, how anyone could be so naive to think you can lock your (metaphorical) doors and ignore the rest of the world is beyond me. A few flaws in these people's thinking. 1. They seem to think they are entitled to other people's resources, and are free to ignore how their actions have directly caused issues like climate change and displacement. America first? Fine but pay back the people you've screwed over first. Of course ignoring the consequences of their own actions must come naturally, the whole country is literally built on stolen land... 2. They always fail to understand how people on another continent directly affect us. Sure take away aid for third world countries, when a new disease pops up or an old one gets the chance to mutate and propagate uninhibited though? Don't complain when it reaches your own shores, and don't expect help from other countries. I mean we saw firsthand how awfully COVID was handled. Remember that America first dogma when American hospitals don't have ventilators etc.
