Yes, he managed to keep his feet on the ground and tried to get the others to do likewise but sadly couldn’t help Keith. While they were rolling the up their sleeves for the needle, he was rolling up his sleeves to get stuck in down on his farm. I’ve just finished reading his autobiography, it’s a great read, and a rollercoaster ride as you would imagine.

@@justinneill5003 Daltrey wasn't a choir boy on the road while married....he says he once confiscated the others drugs and flushed 'em...Daltrey was addicted to pain killers....so yeah maybe he wasn't alcoholic like Pete, or a sex/coke addict like John, and didn't take animal tranquilizers like Keith--but he wasn't running to confession every other week!

Justin Lee Bradley funny how the old guys of the 1950s-70s said the same thing about rock n roll
@blackmore4
@blackmore4 7 жыл бұрын
I think there's more to the original post's idea than just 'change'. ALL the music acts of the 60s and 70s - whether hard rock, hard funk, whatever - _were_ more concerned with making society better. The (very broad) overall message was one of unity, coming together... kicking down doors, sure, but to open new and better ones. And, however corny and idealistic, peace and love (man). While rap obviously has some brilliant political observation, if you look at the overall message, there's way more about personal gain, the objectification of wealth and, most disturbingly, infantile machismo which denigrates women as nothing more than just another disposable trinket.

@@DefundTheFringes Spoken like someone who truly doesn't understand rap! First off, you can't make blanket statements like that about an entire genre. There's PLENTY of misogyny in rock music, does that make all of rock music misogynistic? Of course not. Sage Francis, Aesop Rock, Brother Ali, Macklemore, Immortal Technique are just a few examples of rap music that 100% do not reflect what you are talking about.

to answer yer (rhetorical?) question if no one has, he did the solo album because pete was recording the tommy soundtrack and had put the who on hiatus. Roger Daltrey was filming Listzomania (think that's right) with Ken Russell during the day and recorded the album at night. As far as I know he never intended it to be a solo career it was just something to do before the Who by Numbers album and Who 10th Anniversary Tour. Hope that helps.

I actually saw this on TV. It was a children's show called "Wonderama" and it was on Sunday mornings from 6:00 - 10:00 am. Bob McAllister was the host and would show cartoons and have contests with the studio audience for prizes like games and bicycles. He was a known magician in the New York City area where this was aired. I went to see the show once and he had the Hughes Corporation with their big hit "Don't Rock the Boat." I was 6. I had no idea what was going on! GREAT FUN!!

+steviea427 Ha! Great story - and I was gonna post a question asking what show this was , so thanks for the info. I remember something similar when I was a kid (same era) : ZOOM & Land Of The Lost had a production tour , touring several cities, and we saw it in Atlanta , at a mall. I'll never forget they had all these kids in an auditorium and after the Zoom bit, they turned the lights out , and turned on a strobe light , then a couple of Sleestaks came out and did the "Zombie walk' - I think I was 3 or so - terrified and crying, haha! It's hilarious , now that I think about it. The 70's were such a great, great time to be a kid!

You should see them up close. I’ve have been talking to him , one to one - up close, inches away, at sunset, with the bright orange sun 🌞 shining in his eyes and it’s almost too much to take. His eyes in real light of day life have a bit of a sea-aqua cast to the blue and it is literally breathtaking !!!!!!! ❤. I have never in my life seen prettier eyes. Only some babies I’ve seen have ever gotten even close, and their eyes almost always change as they get older. He is an Angel on Earth 🌍. And not just in looks and talent, but he should get a Knighthood for all he’s done with the Teenage cancer Trust. I will love 💕 him until the day I die. I’ve loved him over 50 years, since I was a preteen. 🌹💕🩵💕😇🙏♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🍀

Nah he knew Van Halen was coming. Hard rock and roll that was based on musicianship like the who would be shot for the next leap forward by Eddie and that would move guitar playing towards the 80's. Honestly punk rock was just trendy preformance art that never was about playing instruments or being a musician. He is talking about the next leap forward musically with notes and technique not fashion trends. Musically punk is just power chords and basically one drum beat all the time they didn't innovate anything besides dressing like a wanker.
