I have always been a massive fan of the Who and years ago I fished at Roger’s lake in Sussex with a mate, when we had finished we went back to the fishing lodge to weigh the catch and record it, and Roger was sitting behind the desk ! He asked us how we had done and was pleased we had done ok, he said” I suppose you’ll be wanting a cup of tea” of course we said yes! Blimey the things I should have asked him, he was very chatty mainly about the fishing and generally a very nice bloke, As for the tea I didn’t know whether to drink it or frame it!

I remember when John Entwistle passed on and The Who chose to play on. One of two members (or someone close to the band) said that they had already prepped for this and, if they didn't go on, many of the side musicians, roadies, technicians, etc. wouldn't get their money and would be financially hit. That's so true, and it's not something people (or maybe just me) understand.

He got it spot on about Savile Row! Some of the best tailors in the world but they take themselves too seriously. I'd say Peter Wolf of the J. Geils Band. He doesn't have the same strong set of pipes as Roger Daltrey or Robert Plant, but what an energetic showman! Kind of like an American Mick Jagger. Check out their classic album "Full House" to hear the energy! One of the greatest live rock albums ever made.
@catherinefitzpatrick91446 жыл бұрын
+Naught 4Sale Really good to read your comment about J.Geils. I saw them in the early 80's in Detroit and Peter (in particular) was a-f***kin'-mazing! I can still vividly 'see' him as he leapt onto some big electrical box that was oddly in the middle of the venue - in one badass move that I've never seen done before or since....and he never stopped singing. He was connecting with the poor folk who didn't have great seats and that crowd went nuts! Peter Wolf, wow! I'm going to listen to Full House next....thanks for reminding me!

I think Roger was the best singer from back then.. I remember watching Woodstock on TVNZ when I was 12..Watching him doing his microphone spinning trick I was wow how cool is this dude.. And his strut was the coolest thing I'd ever seen... Vinyl rule's CD's just don't have any thing exciting about them. I loved my records for the visual element just as much as the music on them.. As a singer songwriter guitar player if I'm writing songs I don't listen to music also..I understand what Roger is saying about being influenced by other People's song writing.. And the Ox to me him Paul McCartney Jack Bruce Geezer Butler and John Paul Jones..Are the most outstanding Bass players of there generation.. There are many more great bass players Bill Wyman for instance.. I just think my top 5 had that something extra.. Not to put Noel Redding down imagine if the Ox was in the Jimi Hendrix Experience... 👍
