That is because he worked with his own hands and feet to create the band. If you have not read his book, you should definitely get it. He talks all about his working class childhood and his struggle to make ends meet. Everything he put into The Who was truly from his inner soul. I couldn't recommend better liturature to read during this time. Cheers to you.
