Roger Daltrey burst on the scene in the early 1960s as the frontman for The Who, one of the pioneering bands that led rock's British invasion of the U.S. Along with guitarist Pete Townshend, bassist John Entwistle, and drummer Keith Moon, Daltrey and The Who became one of rock's biggest and most influential acts, selling 100 million records, producing two full-length rock operas and performing a historic sunrise set at Woodstock. Now, Daltrey is telling his life story of more than 50 years in rock 'n' roll in his new memoir, "Thanks a Lot Mr. Kibblewhite."

I absolutely agree. Pete is brilliant on stage and with his writing. No one can sing like Roger. His swirling Mic. His defiant marching. Keith's crazy drum style -- extremely complex rhythms. And John, with his HUGE, custom bass, and gigantic speakers that crush the eardrums. I saw them live at Winterland, and my mind and ears were blown.

Bought the book, could not put it down until I finished it. Brilliant read from a brilliant guy. Thank you Roger Daltry and The Who for doing what you do/did. One of my all time favorite bands(and albums, Quadrophenia!). Maximum R & B all the way!

Yeah read it too. I always thought Roger would have been one of the most unapproachable who members and I couldn't be more wrong. He is very humble and such a friendly nice guy. My work colleague was on holiday a few years ago and got speaking to the couple on the sunbeds beside them one day. They ended up getting on and one day the guys said "you dont know who I am do you?" Sean said "no." The guy said" I'm the singer with the who" he loved my mate because it didn't mean anything to him. He showed me the photos of them. Roger would have hated me because I would have pestered him lol

It seems like he and his wife just had an honest understanding. He is not going to cop to any affairs or one night stands at this point in his life. I know there is a very good chance that he was faithful, but saints are few and far between.

You are are some of last who walked new roads, true originals. I thank you for all the wonderful music that you invented, played, and lived. Mr. Townsend, Mr. Daltrey - you did not make it easy for yourself and that is why you are now already legends, and not only after you're gone.

I enjoyed this interview. Roger is articulate and with a sense of humor. I've read various quotes from people who knew or interacted with him during his "heyday," so to speak, and they were quite disparaging of his intelligence. Glad to know they were wrong.

Pete Townshend was one of those. I saw an interview somewhere where he was essentially saying that Roger was riding on his coattails -- not all that bright, doesn't write songs, and doesn't play an instrument. He just sings, and anybody can do that, according to Pete.

Daltrey was the 'square' one of the who. Add to that his tiny size and average pub singer voice, perhaps that's why he didn't quite fit in.
