Roger Deakins winning for Blade Runner 2049 (my legit favorite Cinematography of any film he's ever done) is not only deserved on merit, but looking at his career of such beautifully shot movies such The Shawshank Redemption, True Grit, Skyfall, and Oh Brother, Where Art Thou, it is ridiculous he hasn't won an Oscar until this very year. Oh well, better late then never!

I’m not a huge fan of the films’ source material and content, but 2049 is absolutely stunning to look at - full of incredible shots, and with a consistent look throughout. That’s one of the most well-deserved Oscars I’ve ever seen handed out in any category, for such beautiful work, even with such gritty content.

Leo was always obviously trying hard to get an Oscar, but the performances he maybe should've won for were Gilbert Grape and maaaybe Django. I personally think that Ralph Fiennes should've definitely won for Schindler's List in '94. Deakins, however, has constantly been effortlessly brilliant. As have many many others.
