Note: Yes, Federer indeed lost both matches. Lost the 3rd set in Bercy 2018 7-6 (3) in the decisive tie break and lost the 3rd set at the IW final 6-3 in the 3rd set after a poor display. The concept "Escape" is refered to the way Federer came back on both sets to level the match under inmense pressure. Thanks for watching :)

Federer lost an incredible amount of matches against Djokovic that went the distance, especially in the later years. When Roger won he did it generally in straight sets, with the exception of one match at the US Open and that RG 2011. Such a shame because RF had many many opportunities in some of the losses against the serb that he simply couldn't convert.

Well put ; if Federer ever had a weakness if was his generally poor conversion rate of break points - especially against stubbornly consistent players like djokovic & delpotro - he lost two US opens against both , despite leading from the get go & having some match points ..... his conversion rate of several break & game points in these and other matches generally takes him to 24/5 GSs easily...... Perhaps his aggressive style didn't always fire at its best when he was leading matches

these aren't really "escapes" since djokovic won all these matches. Theres a number of other djokovic fed matches with similar scorelines where djokovic won such as 2009 miami where djokovic was down a set, 2009 rome sf where nole was down a set and a break and down bp for double break in 2nd set and down a break in the 3rd set and won 5 straight games to win the match. not to mention all the great grand slam escapes such as 2010 and 2011 us open and 2019 wimbledon all saving 2 match points. 2014 indian wells was pretty good because federer was playing much better in the first half and djokovic had no chances to break until 43 in the second set. @@mazuljce Wrong. Your comment shows how little you know about what it takes to be the GOAT at any sport. It is not strictly about numbers, which is the way fanboys like you want the majority of people that know better. Having the knowledge and experience to see beyond numbers is a skill that comes with experience, kid. If the GOAT was determined only by your criteria of stats, then Novak Djokovic, Margaret Court, Jack Nicholas, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bill Russell, or LeBron James would be your GOATs. The majority of the world will take Federer, Serena, Tiger and Jordan. Yes, the majority of world refer to GOATs by one name 😝

I feel for you and you have my sympathy for your bitterness. The difference in rivalry between James / Jordan, Woods / Nicklause and Djokovic/Federer is that the latter ones played against each other for 15 years so we can actually compare... Behind the stats there are matches, mental strenght, champion attitude etc... Wimbledon 2019 says is all : the romantic loser unable to convert one of his 2 match balls, despite having all the western audience with him. And the true goat who only needed one. This is pointless as Fed lost both matches, meaning he did not perform his best level at the most crucial moment of the match. It makes no sense and a bit lame to cling to losses where he played well for a better portion of the match but show them as a positive from Fed's side. There are so many matches where someone played Federer and they had this sort of "escape" but lost. Pretty much there are multiple matches every tournament where this "escape" happens by someone almost losing then coming back but losing anyway.
