true, no one can replace him but Alcaraz is displaying patterns of play that is similar if not identical
@samuelsessions28174 ай бұрын
@@z1az285 I agree. I hope it continues. And I certainly haven’t watched nearly as much of Alcaraz as I have of Federer (not just because of the difference of the length of their careers), so I’m not 100% confident of this. (And sorry re long post but I just got going so just skip it if you’re bored.) That said, John McEnroe, of whom I’m sort of a fan, once said that he thought Federer loves tennis more than anyone else he had ever seen - and that his game is the most beautiful he’s ever seen, so I have some support for this. Occasionally, when Federer pulls off a shot he really likes there’s a small grin; occasionally, as with tweener vs Djokovic at US Open, he just exults: jumps up, arches his back, a purely spontaneous expression of delight. And since there are always contrarians I will acknowledge that some may say this is sticking it to his opponents, but I disagree. He just loves it, and by no means does he do this with every mind-bogglingly great shot he hits. Alcaraz, whom I really like and respect, doesn’t show quite this attitude; just a little more aggressive, pumping himself up less than enjoying the moment. In his prime Jack Nicklaus was like Federer: that leap for joy after sinking the incredible putt at 16 in the ‘75 Masters, the happiness on his face when he sinks the putt to win the US Open at Baltusrol; his reaction to sinking the putt at 17 in the 86 Masters. It’s just a kind of childlike delight, a feeling you can share with the player, and is something to cherish and adds something to life.
@z1az2854 ай бұрын
@@samuelsessions2817 I read your post in it's entirety and while i do believe you are correct, Alcaraz actually had a similar attitude to federer until this year. but it also involved playing to the Crowd and it gave him energy as well as enjoyment. But i do agree this year he is more business like and still enjoys himself but he plays less of these shots and definitely more percentage focused. i think its a balance. perfectly ok, he is his own man and whatever works for him is fine by me. Alcaraz definitely plays attacking tennis like federer but is not federer. he has federer's touch and feel (drop shots/ drop volleys) as well as extraordinary hands at net plus the ability to generate pace easily, but his movement is more physical and certainly not like Federer's. more like a mix of nadal and Djokovic. he will forge his own path when all is said and done.

The real goat is Novak when all were tied at 20GS a piece that list is nonsense that ESPN made. Just look at the top hardest GS won list that I bet all my money not even ESPN looked at this list which will tell you everything on who the real GOAT is. If you look at the list then count all the slams it is Novak Nadal who won more tougher slams then Fed and both were ranked lower then Fed on that ESPN list go figure That list will also show you toughest periods to win Tennis was from 2008-2016 With 1980-1990 being the second toughest period overall to win I got more stats that I can easily prove ESPNs list is a huge joke And the crowds aren't even factored into the difficulty of winning a slam either which Fed never had to deal with unlike Novak who's still dealing with the crowds Fact of the matter is Novak is greatest sports athlete of all time due to going up against all and overcoming it all as well No other athlete has done what he has done other then Ali I'd say Ali also had to over come a lot

ESPN you can't fool me Top 100 hardest Grand Slams won of all time using only the first 20 grand slams the big 3 won only not the rest to make it all fair since they all won at least 20 grand slams a piece Novak has 17 GS that make the list Rafa 13 Fed 7 Wawrinka 3 ((Ranked 1/2/5)) Murray 3 ((Ranked 33/62/88)) This doesn't factor in the crowds either which makes it more difficult to win Hardest period of GS won was specifically from 2010-2016 with 27 GS out of the top 100 were won during this time-frame which is hardest period to win a slam in Tennis history going by the numbers. 33 GS out of the top 100 hardest GS won were from 2008-2018 (this period here is probably the toughest period overall if we go by decades time frame but if we don't then I'd say 2008-2016 is toughest period altogether) Second hardest era? 1980-1990 with 27 out of the top 100 hardest GS Feds era? 2000-2010 only 14 GS made the list out of top 100 hardest GS
@iamdalibor3 ай бұрын
There is also the Grand Slam Strength comparison as well. Novak also has advantage on having won more slams when the Grand Slam tournaments were maxed out with the best players being at the tournaments Grand Slam Strength Comparison Novak has 13 slams having 3000 or more strength pts ending in the year 2018 Nadal has 12 slams having 3000 or more strength pts ending in the year 2018 Federer has 8 slams having 3000 or more strength pts ending in the year 2018 I stopped at 2018 to make it fair and that was last year Fed was healthy and playing good So there you have it It's okay to like a player more then the others but it's not fair and correct to lie about it and make it seem like that player is the greatest Don't people want the truth anyways? I guess not in the gentlemens sport we call.... Tennis Having seen Novak play Tennis Tennis is anything but gentlemen by everything that I have witnessed
