I’m 51, you took the words right out of my mouth. What did it for me was while I was going through an old box of C.D.’s, I stumbled upon a 3 song disc that included the son Yellow Ledbetter. The name sounded familiar but it wasn’t until i played it i was hooked in a much different way than when i heard it many years ago. I literally said to myself: how have I not heard this in so many years? Needless to say, with all of youtube at my disposal, i have been watching & listening to everything Pearl Jam, studio and live. Sorry for rambling on.

Eddie Vedder KILLED this song. It is one of my top 3 favorite songs of all time and his voice singing it gives me more than enormous goose bumps. INCREDIBLE VOICE!!!!! Note how nervous he was to sing this hauntingly beautiful and one of the most iconic songs ever written. Roger Waters, sob that he can be, was so loving to him..that had to help some. After he sang, Eddie totally loosened up and had a great time on stage with the audience. He deserved those moments so much as well as each and every clap!!!!

@@ellenjones8695 I couldn't agree more and have said as much myself many times. Well known fact that his angst and misery and abuse were, in large part, responsible for some of their best music. But the group, as a whole, made his plight come alive. Few are as talented as Pink Floyd. Doesn't change the fact that he was and still is hard to deal with and has problems dealing with others. He admits this.
@glindathegoodishwitch92444 жыл бұрын
@@ellenjones8695 Your comment is perfect; beautiful. You state that "his lyrics will haunt you forever." And yes, I so agree, much more meaningful with time. I recall the first time I ever heard Comfortably Numb. I was in my car and GOBSMACKED by the yes, "haunting" beauty of this song. As well, the lyrics completely put into words the way I felt. It was a truly incredible experience for me. Many years later, I consider this song one of the most touching and affecting pieces of music I've ever heard. I can't listen to it enough....still. It is deep within my bones, heart and mind. Thank you for the well wishes....and the very same to you, Ellen. Take good care.

The guitar player at 4:53 is awesome, I could listen to it over & over. Mind you I already love Eddie Vedder.

That's kind of funny because that's the exact word I'd use to describe Gilmour's voice on this song. Not that Eddie doesn't do a great job, but no one can sing this song like David fucking Gilmour can.

Check out Warren Haynes. Even better than Vedder at covering other's music and making it special. He even covers some pearl jam, Comeback being Haynes' best Pear jam cover
