I’m 51, you took the words right out of my mouth. What did it for me was while I was going through an old box of C.D.’s, I stumbled upon a 3 song disc that included the son Yellow Ledbetter. The name sounded familiar but it wasn’t until i played it i was hooked in a much different way than when i heard it many years ago. I literally said to myself: how have I not heard this in so many years? Needless to say, with all of youtube at my disposal, i have been watching & listening to everything Pearl Jam, studio and live. Sorry for rambling on.

For years I didn't like his voice when I would hear it every once in a while on the radio. I would hear my uncle's funny, yet terrible impression of him any time Pearl Jam would play and I leaned into my negative perception for years. It wasn't til I had been pursuing a vocal path for a couple years that I came back around with fresh ears and saw his uniqueness and power for the first time. I think if ANYBODY spent one day listening solely to Pearl's discography, they would begin to go back to their favorite parts quite often. Eddie is a legend for real

Eddie Vedder KILLED this song. It is one of my top 3 favorite songs of all time and his voice singing it gives me more than enormous goose bumps. INCREDIBLE VOICE!!!!! Note how nervous he was to sing this hauntingly beautiful and one of the most iconic songs ever written. Roger Waters, sob that he can be, was so loving to him..that had to help some. After he sang, Eddie totally loosened up and had a great time on stage with the audience. He deserved those moments so much as well as each and every clap!!!!

@@ellenjones8695 I couldn't agree more and have said as much myself many times. Well known fact that his angst and misery and abuse were, in large part, responsible for some of their best music. But the group, as a whole, made his plight come alive. Few are as talented as Pink Floyd. Doesn't change the fact that he was and still is hard to deal with and has problems dealing with others. He admits this.

@@ellenjones8695 Your comment is perfect; beautiful. You state that "his lyrics will haunt you forever." And yes, I so agree, much more meaningful with time. I recall the first time I ever heard Comfortably Numb. I was in my car and GOBSMACKED by the yes, "haunting" beauty of this song. As well, the lyrics completely put into words the way I felt. It was a truly incredible experience for me. Many years later, I consider this song one of the most touching and affecting pieces of music I've ever heard. I can't listen to it enough....still. It is deep within my bones, heart and mind. Thank you for the well wishes....and the very same to you, Ellen. Take good care.

Keep coming back to listen to this. One of the great rock vocalists ever delivering an absolute masterclass. When he starts singing it's just literally jaw dropping. Second only to Mercury in terms of being one of rock's finest frontmen.
