I was broke and living in a car when this song came out. My life had come to a total stop. This song came on the radio, and it spoke volumes to me. I knew it would be a long way home, to get back into decent living and no longer a waste cake. 50 years later, I'm back home in my home state, and have a home and a family and even a show car. It was a long way home. My next home is Heaven.

This song always speaks to me. My wife and I have made 42 years together but not always easy ones. I owned a business she never seemed to want to understand. It was very successful, after a rocky start. But she never saw that. The words of being on stage and how wonderful that is, only to go home to a wife that used to be so nice and didn't understand really hit home. I saw Roger in concert a few years ago. My wife chose to stay home that night. The song means nothing to her, but has pulled me through on many occasions.

No one now days has an idea of what music really is. This is amazing! Dying breed. Someone needs to do something and get this kind of music in kids lives! This stuff heals and gives people inspiration. Now days it is compromised! Very sad!

I have just found these videos. (Admittedly not much into tech.) I was listening to Supertramp on the Alexa a few days ago and still love the sound. How I missed it. Agreed this music heals. A lot of music does. I recall being in a dark place in my late teens, absorbing Supertramp's sound - those harmonica and saxophone sounds are incredible - and poring over the lyrics. So positive and oh that music, for me, expressed such hope. The darkness went a few years later. The hope lasts. Forty years later Roger Hodgson's music is still magical. The fact he wrote these in his late teens is just amazing to me. Such insight. Thank you Sir. Your compositions were a light to a lost and lonely soul. God bless you.

Supertramp was the a big part of my pre-teen years. Many years later I was working for a music manufacturer and was working our booth at the NAMM show and someone taps my shoulder and in a quiet voice asked me if the owner was around. I turned around and there was Roger. Now I met a LOT of musicians while working there, but meeting Roger was one of the biggest treats! I was so familiar with his music and he was so kind and friendly.

I was born in '67 and my brother are boomers. The music I grew up to just can't be compared to todays music. Had my only child at 38. She only heard "my music" but started listening to kpop at 12( kid, what the heck is THAT shit?) But at 14 she, by some stroke of a blessing, started listening to my playlist! Now she can't get enough of the great music from the past. She's 15 now and kpop is just a weird memory. ♥️
