Drag chain and limit switches are easily implementable. You may also consider some riser blocks to easily use a honeycomb as it removes +- 22m from the usable height. I also added a screw for z-height and air assist. Yet I still have to start print anything else than the demo's that were on the sd-card. The tweaking/modding is part of the fun !

Since this video posted, this laser has had extensive upgrades and is now a 20 watt with functioning limits.

Hello, I just purchased a new Longer Ray 5 10W laser engraver and I'm having difficulties getting the laser to fire. The unit traces the image but the laser never lights. I've tried all different settings but the laser never lights. I did add the limit switches but I followed the instructions and I believe the wires are all in the correct place. The limit switches work as intended and the laser module has power, both the red and blue lights on top are illuminated during a burn process. Any help you or one of your subscribers could offer would be greatly appreciated.

In Ligfhtburn, go to the icon at the top of a wrench/screwdriver and click on it. Turn on the buttons for Enable Laser Fire Button and Laser on when framing. Click OK. On the Move tab, set laser power to 1-2%. If you then click on the fire button, the laser should come on. If it doesn't, then something else is wrong.

@@rogersshop thank you. I'll give that a try tonight.

@@rogersshop Thanks for assisting me in getting my setup running. I followed your instructions and no laser activation so I went back and looked at where I added the extension rails and limit switches and I placed the 12v connector in the wrong place. I’m happy to say I ran my first test and I’m more than happy with the way it turned out. Thanks again.

I love your review on this machine

One nice feature about the wifi on this model is that you can use its web interface (on your computer/phone, vist the wifi local IP it lists on the machine's display) and you can upload gcode files directly to the SD card's storage through the wifi webpage. I use the same laserGRBL application to save the project as a .nc file instead of interfacing through my distant usb ports. This combats your ire about dropping packets since you can just fire and forget the machine as if it were offline, but without having to touch the tiny display (and with a better controls and settings UI than it grants on the tiny screen -- comparable to the tethered applications for basic func). If you had an array of these machines, this could be a viable way to interface with them all using only one computer (or phone).

I see you use a lot of different lasers. I am currently looking at the xtool one you reviewed. Which has been your favorite laser so far? I will be primarily engraving metal and wood

I have two of the xTool D1 lasers in the 10 watt version. One is going to be dedicated to the rotary attachment. So, yes, I like the D1. I also like this Longer model and my Ortur Laser Master Pro. Each has somewhat of a dedicated use for what we make. I'm planning a video soon on the D1/rotary setup.

Great video, I am a new sub, I like that your videos have so much detail. Really helpful for the rookie like me. I bought the YoraHome 6550 and just started putting it together. Thank you for the details

WiFi is fine as long as you are close and just use a webcam, old cellphone, or a wifi cam and you can watch it live. Just sayin'.

We live very close to an airport and interrupted WIFI happens all the time. Not just us either.
