This a great presentation of the full scope view of the cost of running a business. Quality work does not equal cheap. I am not a plumber but I really enjoy your videos Roger. A few years ago my toilet started over flowing and sewage was backing up in the bathtub, because of a blockage in the sewer line. My father called a plumber, and the Plumber showed up early, and he did all of the diagnostic tests and determined that he needed to pull the toilet. He used his 35' drill auger first then he got the big auger out. He was very professional, was dressed in slacks and white shirt. He was willing to teach me about what he was doing and why. He ran the auger out 90' and fixed the problem! He was worth his weight in Gold! Cleaned up the mess in the bathtub where sewage backed up even and disinfected the entire floor bathroom. Quality matters more than cost. 100%

I watched your video of replacing a soldered in sill cock and got a similar job. I chose to cut the finished basement wall open and replace the copper through the wall. I quickly realized had I put a torch in the wall then I would have burned the house down. The wall was full of styrofoam, plastic sheeting, paper backed insulation, and old dry 2 x4 studs as well as having a big gap without fire caulking between the floor above. It took me a lot longer because access was tough especially for the press tool but it was so worth it not burning down the house. I told the homeowner because even if he didn’t like hearing it, he absolutely should know the truth. He gave me a five star review and I sure appreciate that. You did ask what viewers would do differently in that video and for me it was sleeve the copper to protect it from muriatic acid. Thanks for what you do sir.

This is amazing information. Roger, the only thing I would add to that is, if you are going to check the whole plumbing system like you said. And you checked out the lady's water heater and then it leaked. When she went away, I would almost record myself or have the customer there. Watching what you're doing. I'm a very cautious person and I'm always thinking. People's gonna think I did something to that hot water tank and then I would get the blame for it if that makes sense to you. But if you recorded yourself looking at it. And then you could just show them. As well and they would be able to see that nothing was done. And then you could just kind of keep that file. Just in case they did come back to try to sue

The tips in this video don’t only apply to plumbers but any residential service company or contractor. They should have classes on professionalism and ethics in trade schools. I’m a master electrician and sometimes it amazes me that these standards of proper etiquette, decorum, and ethics aren’t common knowledge in all trades.

The only problem I have with all the service fees is. You hear the horror Stories of people having 2 to 3 Different plumber out. And they still couldn't figure the problem out and Then you have all The fees and still the problem.

Hmmm, replacing a water heater just because of its age? I’ve had water heaters and HVACs last many times their typical service life. Guess it comes down to are you maintaining it and can you handle if it goes bad.

In my experience all plumbers are drunks. 9 of 10 that enter my house have been drunk. I had to pay 30% over going price to have a sober person in my house. Sad.

that credibility statement sounds like bs😂 yeah have your plumber tell them he’s paying child support for the next 12 years and he’s a recovering drug addict and/or alcoholic too.
