Looking at the range of Rogeti accessories related to the T32 carbon fibre tripod and how they relate to my photography. Includes TSE frame, camera L brackets and the new T32 geared centre column [& wheels for smooth video]

yes a great assortment of accessories, also consider the right angle column and the wheel set as a "cheaper" studio stand system, for mf and 35 mm so you can get macro shots, but still have the flexibility of the wheels, so you don't have to take the camera off to transport it around a studio, house, or other flat location.

The wheels have indeed proven useful for that - I have a medium size studio stand and it is too heavy for convenience outside of my office

I replaced. my gitzo giant with this rogeti and have since bought pretty much every accessory to go with it. even the iPhone holder. the wheels and geared column was my latest purchase, everything is just about perfect. size weight is great, the head rocks, I cant recommend it enough. using it with GFX 100s. not sure why nobody talks about this system.

Im a sucker for great design and engineering. Rogetti, Leica, and Novoflex are masters of this domain. How is the backlash on that rack and pinion column?

It's very small - the cross cut gearing rack is very well cut. I've not tested it in detail though

Keith, I am a little surprised that you use that little tripod for professional work. I'm sure it is well made, but I would think that you would not find it robust enough, particularly with a center column. Unless you had to strap it across your back and hike with it for some distance, it seems to me that something a bit beefier might be called for. I do a lot of wildlife photography so I have a ProMediaGear full-size tripod. But then I'm using it with a 600MM f/4, which I'm guessing you don't need for interior architecture work. :) I have the Rogeti frame for the 24mm TSE and the L-bracket for a Canon 5DSR which are well-made. I wish they made a frame for the Canon 90mm TSE, but apparently, no one in the world would consider using that lens for stitched panos, or there is no need to be concerned with parallax issues at that focal length. Or something. I will say that "Arca-Swiss" appears to be "conceptual" standard rather than an actual one; the Rogeti L-Bracket may be a fractional millimeter too slim as I have had clamps not fully able to lock onto it without slippage. I never really considered you with regard to macro work. I would be very interested in you going down that rabbit hole. I do macro work with mechanical watch-sized objects, so if you got into flash vs. continuous lighting, focus rails, macro lenses, stacking software etc. that would be of interest to me and perhaps others. I know there are KZbinrs that get into shooting the eyes of ants and that type of thing, but I would be more interested in somewhat larger objects.

Ah ...no problem whatsoever with the small tripod [the very small mini one that is] Very specific uses, such as putting it on furniture when shooting interiors. More than robust enough for any kit I'm likely to use As for the main tripod itself, it too is robust enough for my work - professional or otherwise - I don't use long lenses or big heavy cameras. I do have several macro articles and videos - my 'work' side is often electronic components and engineering related - no bugs or fungi... www.northlight-images.co.uk/category/articles-and-reviews/macro/

Interesting video, but I have a tendency to collect accessories that I use seldom. So I'm carful today to get new things. I currently assessing my need for pol filters to my two Zooms and A panorama set if the PC lenses are not enough. Looking into Magnetic 10*ND filter to use on AF lenses. I’m still saving for the 19mmF4PC and an AFS 400mmF2.8 E FL VR. Also looking into if I shall replace my Zeiss 18mmF3.5 with a Zeiss Milvus 18mmF2.8 that is better on my new 45mpix D850.I can use the old lens on my 12 Mix D700 but I'm not sure if it’s okay on my 36Mpix D800E. It has rained 4 weeks so not mutch pictures taken with the D800E during my summer holliday.

Hi Keith great review, for the geared column, does the gear "handle" stick outside of the circumference that bounds all three legs + tripod head. This is because my packing in camera bag is very tight. If you look at Gitzo or Benro their handle is smaller and folds flattish so not to protrude out.
@KeithCooper
@KeithCooper Ай бұрын
It doesn't fold. It can be unscrewed easily, but obviously that's a way of losing the handle and screw ;-)

@@KeithCooper If I were to purchase this I would try to find a handle that doesn't stick out further than the legs, (in top view). My tripods are always crammed into my work camera bag. :)

Fair enough - my tripods won't fit into any bag I actually use for work - they have their own bags [if a bag is needed at all]

Will the wheels fit on other tripods like the Gitzo 5 series? i have been looking for tripod wheels forever

I don't know - I've never used any gitzo stuff. Email me at Northlight and I can have a closer look at the wheels
