After a couple months of sliding plates on and off, hitting the j-cups (or even the rack), you are going to have scuffs etc on the bar. So who cares about a few blemishes out of the box.

I’m a big advocate of the Rogue Boneyard. All my Rogue barbells were purchased there, if you don’t abuse your barbell the no warranty shouldn’t be a factor. I have a Matt Chan cerakote shaft, chrome sleeves for 250$ (usually 350$ plus new), Bare Steel Ohio Power Bar for 195$. Bare Steel Ohio Deadlift bar for 195$ as well. I saved enough to justify not buying “new”. Also the defects are barely noticeable...on my Matt Chan bar the center knurl was deemed “too passive”. I can live with that...my other two barbells just had cosmetic scratch on the shaft barely noticeable unless you know to look for it.

Hey Brandon, I recently purchased a stainless steel OHP from the boneyard and I have a quick question for you. The bar I got is in decent shape with a couple scuff and I am happy about that. What I am concern about it that when I compare it to my B&R bar which as I am sure you know is bare steel, there is not a noticible diffence in shaft material. When I reached out to Rouge they told me ther was no way for them to differentiate their stainless from bare steel because they do not polish there stainless. In your opinion can you tell the difference between their stainless and bare steel? If so, how can I make this distinction.

One thing I hate about the end caps is not knowing what bar it actually is. I got mine (Ohio Power) a few years ago from a friend's recommendation. At that time I knew nothing about the differences between the dozens of bars rogue offered. I went through some tough times and just recently put my home gym back together. Another friend came over last week and saw the bar and asked what kind it was. I couldn't remember and had to look back at my online Rogue account to confirm. Why can't they just make normal end caps for Boneyard Bars--but in a different color? Or maybe some stripe or outer ring within the normal cap that denotes a Boneyard Bar? Sure it would force Rogue to manufacture a few more of these caps, but it can't be that much more? I just never understood why it's marked "The Boneyard Bar" when in reality there is no actual "Boneyard Bar" it can be one of several bars. But I must say I really love the deal I got on my Orange Cerakote OHP Bar regardless.

I bought a boneyard version of the Ohio deadlift bar. One sleeve didn't spin well & would occasionally make a grinding noise. I convinced Rogue to take it back. (They aggressively fought me on returning the bar) Long story short, they held the bar 2 months, claimed Bill Henniger personally looked at my bar (BS) after calling them 5 or 6 times for updates, and when I asked if I could just upgrade to a new deadlift bar & pay the cost difference, they said they already shipped it without any communication (I was not emailed with tracking or even an update). They claimed the bar had no defects, yet the sleeve issue was clearly fixed. Since that was the first time I've dealt with a Rogue built product, it left a bad taste in my mouth. Poor communication, embellished claims, etc. I own about 12 bars and this was by far the worst experience I've had with a manufacturer to date. As someone I know said, if you're going to lie to a customer about the status of the return, at least make it believable.

Correct me if I am wrong....45 lb Olympic weight bars are discounted due to cosmetic blemishes... In my several decades of lifting, i have never heard anyone complain of appearance of bar. 400 dollars for a olympic bar ... Bro i heard they are discounting boxes of snow in Antarctica.. Just lift...
@BasementBrandon4 жыл бұрын
If you buy a new TV and there is a big scratch on the screen would you want one without that? How about a car or truck that's sold as new but has dents in the body? Same principle.
@strictlyaesthetic92024 жыл бұрын
Bro ... You are comparing apples to oranges... You purchase a olympic bar to assist with lifting for size and strength. You are NOT putting a olympic bar in a showcase and displaying for people to look at. Your videos make this sport into a mockery . Focus on lifting and not how fancy your gym equipment happens to be that you own.

Only wish Rogue equipment isn't priced as much. Maybe for those in the US that's reasonable, but people who live in other places find Rogue equipment prices to be too much. Even those in the boneyard still cost so much for those outside the US.
@BasementBrandon2 жыл бұрын
It's all within context. You can buy cheaper bars here in the US as well, but they're not made as well, nor do they come with as good of warranty.
@Milliardo52 жыл бұрын
@@BasementBrandon Yes, I do have those cheap bars and plates, the ones that have about a 1 inch hole in diameter, which is the same diameter of the bar. They're serviceable, but if one would want to train with equipment used for CrossFit or powerlifting at home, then one's out of luck here.
@matthewklugh61195 жыл бұрын
The warranty isn't worth it because Rogues' warranty is a joke. if any one has read it they know it's set up so the consumer is always at fault. Literally if you use safeties It voids the warranty. Also it only covers the shaft bending. If there is anything wrong with the collars it's not covered. Ill admit that chances are that you won't have any problems with Rogue barbell in the first place but if you do have one I wouldn't expect Rogue to fix it.
@BasementBrandon5 жыл бұрын
To be fair I don't think it's outside of the norm to not honor warranties for issues that are likely caused by user error.
@matthewklugh61195 жыл бұрын
@@BasementBrandon true but They are the only ones who go this far to blame it on the customer while still claiming that they have the most indestructible bars: Warranty against bending does not cover any bar which has been damaged due to negligent or faulty use, alteration, maintenance, storage or handling by the user. Negligent or faulty use includes abusive dropping of the bar (i.e., dropping the bar on a box, bench, spotter arms or pins in a power rack, excessive dropping with insufficient or damaged bumpers, or excessive dropping with iron plates, and similar usage). Any specific issues regarding a Rogue product with which a customer is not satisfied will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. We have found that most problems with bars we replace are related to abusive use rather than manufacturing or materials issues.

I bought my wife a Olympic Training Barbell from the Boneyard. It is very nice! It looks better and has better features than than my brand new Rogue Ohio SS barbell. And her barbell cost less money. I think the Boneyard deals are great.

@@Chedda3000music I paid 480 for the clear zinc about 2 yrs ago. The bar was in fantastic shape. Knurling was perfect. There was just a couple of scratches to the finish. I get emails fairly frequently about blemish sales from kabuki for all their bars.

I think the biggest benefit of doing that with Kabuki outside of the price, is that they actually have those bars in stock and you don't have to wait 2 months for it like when you buy new lol.
