Thor tore his pec age 34, it's difficult to recover from major injuries when you're older Also whilst patellar tendon tear is terrible it doesn't necessarily mean you can't get back to your best, the muscle is still intact. Thor's pec tear essentially means his left pec will never be the same because he's missing part of the muscle belly

Thor is incredible at just about every other event, hence his 5 event wins at SMOE but just can't seem to get back to that max pressing strength. The patella injury could be career ending in some cases but it wasn't for Z whereas this pec tear is actually stopping Thor from winning some shows.

I think this is a solid assessment. Mitch is a genetic freak PLUS has very good technique which makes him tough to beat. Reminds me of a buddy of mine who started martial arts at the same time as I did and in 5 years became a teacher of SEVERAL arts while I was still working on the one. He is also an amazing guitar player and close-up magician. Athleticism and dexterity were his genetic gifts and I'd bet money Mitch is the same way. I do see some Tom bashing but maybe I can provide some insight as I am also autistic and have been lifting for 30+ years and have competed in bodybuilding, highland games, strongman, etc. I do agree that Tom needs to refocus but it's not that simple. Non-autistic people don't understand that even a seemingly minor setback can balloon in your mind very quickly to the point where you can't shake it and have a meltdown. This is something that happens to autistic people. Believe me, I wish it didn't but it's not something you can just not do. It can be hard to recognize when that is happening before it's too late and you do go into meltdown or non-verbal mode. Tom made the right choice in Vegas in my opinion. He missed what he wanted to do on deadlift and you see how it affected his car walk. Dropping out likely saved him a meltdown because his focus would be less and less which is dangerous in this sport. I think people also don't realize the amount of chaos going on at events. When you have sensory issues as most of us autistic people do, normal everyday situations can be extremely overwhelming so stepping in the middle of a loud audience WHILE trying to focus as hard as you can is a super duper stressful environment. At Rogue they even have drones flying around your head. That Tom can compete at such a high level with all of that bullshit is amazing to me. Now this is speculation, but I reckon that the reason Tom shines at WSM is because of the slower pace (you can hide out from the chaos) and that he has won before. He trained to win WSM and so that type of contest is what is best for him. Plus his entire support team is with him to keep track of details so he can have a singular focus. I think Tom still has a pretty big upside. e.g. on pressing events you can see him just power the weight up. If he perfects his push press or even learns split-leg press his pressing numbers will be nuts. It takes us longer to learn technique because we learn body movements differently as most of us autistic people have at least some dyspraxia... Even minor dyspraxia can jack up how you move. I am 50 and am just now hitting military press PRs because I finally got the technique down after a million years. Then there's the litany of other crap that affects us out there in neurotypical society. In short - Tom really impresses me. I do think Tom should focus on WSM and maybe one other major contest each year. An athlete like Mitch Hooper who can compete in a bunch of contests at a high level and win only is incredibly rare. As far as strength, I think Tom is an insane freak of nature as well, but he definitely has to work harder to compete because of everything I mentioned above and more. I don't think that's an excuse as we know what affects us and how sometimes we just can't deal. Unfortunately for Tom he wouldn't know that until he gets to the contest and starts competing. Maybe he needs a new movement coach and maybe some therapy as well which I think will be really helpful.

As to your predictions for how you're going to finish personally, you have sort of become the Connor McGregor of bold and accurate predictions in our sport... so much so that I now refer to you as "Mystic Mitch." I know not everyone can win, but besides Thor, there's maybe 1-2 people who can put pressure on Mitch and that's only if they come in 100% healthy and ready, which they haven't yet since Mitch has surfaced (Mateusz & Martins). Everyone else has too many weaknesses and just are not the athlete Mitch is. These competitions are becoming too predictable, someone needs to step up. Easier said than done of course.

It'll be a tougher time than before because Thor and some other Strongmen will have upped their game in some events but I believe you'll still take it. Thor's and Tom's great bulk for example will be a problem for them in the more cardiovascular events. Since you're more well rounded you'll still take the win but perhaps by not as big of a margin as before.

These stones are different. Tom excels with the typical Atlas stones and tacky, but has been beaten with these ones in the past. I would not automatically assume he wins the stones in this competition. Also, he seems very beat down and demoralized after the comp in Vegas. If he places poorly in the max deadlift, he's likely to shut down mentally and underperform in the other events. Unfortunately, unless he is able to regroup and go into Rogue with the right mindset I can't see him even making the podium. I see Thor (and Trey if he is competing) as much more of a threat to Mitch.

I think you’re gonna take the win on this one. It would be nice to see Thor on the podium. In my opinion, 2025 is going to be a hear for Thor. He’ll have a few comps under his belt and will hopefully push you a little more. Good luck.

Great events. I wouldn't be surprised to see Thor top 3 in the pressing events. But can't see anyone other than Mitch winning those.

Great breakdown. Love your confidence. But I’m guessing Thor has been working in his overhead lifts and will do better than you think. Especially after watching this video and being motivated to prove you wrong. But if you stay healthy…I believe this is yours to win. Good luck, Champ!

It's another W for you Mitch. Im a Thor fan, but realistically he wont be at full pressing power until 2025 ASC...so unless you make a major mistake i think its your show...unfortunately because i want Thor to crush you...respectfully speaking as a fan😅

Honest opinion Mitch rubs a lot of ppl the wrong way. Some guys call him arrogant. Every pre and post comp video dude just says facts. What he did, what he himself thinks he capable of doing, for HIMSELF. Diff between believing in your own abilities and arrogance. Go Moose. I hope you smash every comp the rest of the year 🫎

Trey Mitchell is not in the comp right? You mentioned him a couple times but didnt see him on the original invite list and the Lalas bros and Loz have mentioned they thought that omission was wrong since he was injured in last years.

If thor can get the first axle on the medley then I think he will get ok points on that event as a lot of the others will be gassed/given up by then. Still unlikely to be enough to match Mitch’s consistency overall for the comp win tho.

What? Trey Mitchell? I thought he was not selected to comp?
@AGDunc
@AGDunc 2 күн бұрын
Trey should be invited purely on the basis that it was largely Rogue’s fault he was injured in the first place. The bull pull was faulty last year and was getting worse with each athlete. Trey went last from memory

Possibly the most confident ive ever seen Moose. I do hope Trey slips in. Novikov, Tom or Evan could be out by then. All had light injuries and poor showings last event.

I imagine Hafthor will improve his overhead more than expected, but that will still be where he loses points. He's the major threat for #1 next to Mitch. If Trey surprises with his grip, he might be a major dark horse. Everybody else are unknowns, though I think Luke may surprise as well since he is less beat up than most of the athletes this year. I think Tom needs to rest and reset mentally and physically, which applies to the other unknowns too. Imo, SMOE took a lot out of most everybody. Connective tissue recovers slow, and max lifts beat them up big-time.

Events are very good for Tom if he can sort out his mind set cause psychological Tom is not in a good place. But obviously your on a great run but i think with this level of competitors and events i think your only weakness is the stones and your not weak at that but i think you need to get tacky right and you need to build up your speed. But this whole comp wow if Tom sorts out his head, Thor improves his overhead, and Trey improves his grip for the pulling event those 3 are going to be tough competition

I disagree, Tom is not at the top when it comes to max deadlift, yoke, or Dumbell so there are lots of areas for him to lose points
@user-my2se7sn3s
@user-my2se7sn3s 2 күн бұрын
@@cisrael468 good point on the max deadlift but on the yoke and dumbbell in the past were decent ones for him genetically he's built like Thor and Shaw but mentally I think he can be quite fragile the last 2 comps he's literally walking around back stage head down shoulders slumped it's a bad body language like a man not sure what to do and giving up with his frame and strength he should be top 3 every time its in his head let's him down that's what I think anyway. You look at Mitchell Hooper very clever guy incredibly strong and technical and when he has a weak point he works on it comes across very strong mentally. In every sport its no good just having the physical attributes mentally you need to be a winner if you don't think your going to win then you've lost already the mind is so powerful.

Correct me, if I am wrong - is this not the FIRST time in the modern history of Strongman, we get to see a KB/kettlebell?? I have trained with KBs for over ten years, and I know how different from BBs and DBs they feel to lift. This is VERY interesting - those athletes, who have familiarized themselves with doing one hand overhead lift with a heavy KB will have a HUGE advantage over those, who think it is "just another akward BB"..... The heaviest KB i have ever seen lifted overhead was a 90 kg/198 lbs. I think there might be a few athletes not able to lift this one. 👍👍👍👍.

Kettlebells are a completely different kettle (Haha) of fish than a dumbbell or bar. I was pretty good at lifting when I started training with kettlebells and it was a painful experience. I know several people who broke their wrists doing it wrong. I really hope the guys prepare well.

If Tom peaked for this or was anywhere close to his wsm condition the events would be very good for him (or all the other events would be so good that the deadlift wouldnt matter that much) He isnt gonna be in that shape tho but its still crazy to think that Tom could show up and do "badly" by his standards and still end up on the podium. I believe that this comp is for Mitch to lose and Thor, Tom and Evan will be the other competitors in the top 4

I was wondering the same. In a vlog on the wreckit gym YT channel he recently said he is focusing on BJJ. Apparently he's got some comp in October. He also said that his dream is to turn pro in BJJ. He said if his body allows, he might try to compete on the Arnold's and WSM next year, but he said going pro in BJJ "would be much cooler". I guess we've seen the last of him in professional strongman unfortunately.
