Jyn Erso is that kid at school who was quiet, but also stuck up, and completely rude. Until one day, you realize their home life wasn’t great. There may have been hints to it while you were in school, They were dirty, smelled bad, getting into fights, arguing with teachers, were always being taken out of the classroom. And as a child, you didn’t understand a label outside of “She’s weird” or “She’s annoying.” It’s when you become a grown up, that you see a lot more, and reflect on those very people, when you realize, what they may have been experiencing. I think about Bruce Willis, when he was diagnosed with Aphasia. Kevin Smith, who directed him in Cop Out, and famously bashed the actor left and right, calling him unprofessional and a nightmare, Suddenly changed his tone, talking about his regret of how he judged Bruce, Saying “You think you know a situation.” Jyn Erso watched her mother die, her father leave with the people who did it, Leaving her in the care of a crazy guy who abused her, telling her it was for her own good, before also abandoning her. She grew up physically, but kept that childlike attitude and surface level judgement of others, until she finds out what her father actually went through, and that she’s the one who’s the villain for hating a man she never tried to understand outside her 8 year old mindset. She sees how not understanding someone else’s side of the story, can make your side of the story, valueless. And suddenly wishes to right that wrong, by validating her father’s view of the good person she could be. Jyn Erso is represents the person who deals with a hard life, by blaming the world, becoming bigoted, and single minded, failing to acknowledge they’re not special, until confronted with it face to face.

Rogue one is a great example of how to create and use a female Character while on the other hand the Kenobi series is a perfect example of HOW NOT to do that🤣☠️
