Green is not really represented in the mechanics or fantasy of the core class of the Rogue, but there is one subclass that leans that way, and even makes a great mono-green Rogue: the Scout. That's the cool thing about the class/subclass setup: subclasses can expand upon or even completely change the flavour of a class.

Green Rogue can overlap with Rangers. Green's one of powerful tool is familiarity: "I know this city/forest better than anyone else" or "I'm doing this because I know people would react that way" kind of character can be explained by Green. For future content, I'd like to see how Clerics or Warlocks could be diverse as Sorcerer is.

Let's shed white from the Esper rogue and add in red to create a Grixis rogue! This is similar to the Rakdos rogue, where they use charisma and a silver tongue to get what they want, but adding in blue makes them a lot more driven and even sinister. Like you said, red and black make for a rogue that is impulsive and even addicted to adrenaline and action. In this case, blue tempers that drive and focuses it into a laser-like focus, all for the sake of getting what it wants. This is the leader of a shady organization or a patient con-man. These are rogues who use their charm as well as their intellect in order to get what they want from others. And they add Dimir's practicality to the mix as well, meaning that no act is too repulsive for them. They will lie, cheat, steal, and manipulate events and people for the sake of their ambitions. THIS is what I think the stereotypical rogue is; one that is amoral, selfish, yet also charming and skilled. They are both your best friend and your worst enemy all at the same time, and you never truly know where you fall on the spectrum in their eyes.

Grixis would fit the rogue so well. The video talks about how black blue and red can fit the rogue class. It does say that white and green don't fit as well. Grixis is about taking all a person's abilities and getting what someone wants. There is red for aggression and blue for scheming. Then black ties this together with pure ambition. There is no green or white. So one doesn't hold themselves to the kind of moral limitations that other people have. One doesn't adhere to nature or society. The Grixis way totally fits rogues.

Sly Cooper seems like a great example of a Rogue with primarily Green motives (Although I'd argue he's Temur): thievery is in the Cooper blood, and he wants to make sure that legacy is preserved at all cost, both by exemplifying it and enshrining his own place in that ancestry, and by stopping those who threaten to annihilate him and his lineage In fact, the whole idea behind the Thievius Raccoonus (the book each Cooper writes their techniques in) is Simic as hell: each ancestor pushes limits and creates new thieving techniques, and each Cooper studies and learns those techniques, and then creates more techniques for future Coopers to learn. A cycle that's constantly innovating itself.

my thoughts on the green rogue leans more into the whole given destiny aspect of green. For example someone who believes that they have a greater purpose to carry out that no one else can or will. That naturally adds in black as they are self driven and must reach outside of classical morality in order to achieve this goal. From there you could very easily add in other colours to describe what exactly their goal is for example white adds in a robin hood type motivation or that of a principled assassin who kills those the system cannot touch but deserve to be punished. Blue could add a desire to have hidden knowledge be available such as an investigator or a dungeon delver. Those that would desire to have the truth known rather than hidden. Red could add an emotional motivation perhaps some sort of vengeance or revenge quest. but yeah thats just my thoughts on it golgari, abzan, sultai or jund could work very nicely for a green rogue

A green rogue would see things in the bigger picture and know what and what not to mess with. They can also be rogues because they think they are destined into being master spies or perfected assassins because they have the skills and talents to do so, or to safeguard their land through the shadows. There are the Simic with their more sneaker guardians and Edric.

If I was playing a Rogue that was black-green I’d bring these two colours together within the Golgari identity, and they overlap on the subject of survival. A black green rogue is therefore a survivalist or trapper who knows that, in nature, there is no such thing as foul play. The spider lays its traps, the snake uses its venom, and neither are evil. So it’s like - a Ranger class, but with the methods and outlook of the Rogue?

I've played the green rogue before. He was an explorer of abandoned or forgotten places. Not magically aligned but a highly skilled and practiced adventurer. He was from a mostly submerged land, and being a race talented in swimming, made him an excellent explorer of those submerged places. He was centered in blue, defined by his curiosity, but had green and red to round him out.

Funny enough in my campain I have a rogue druid, that is deffenetly blue, green. Being a gnome from a deeply naturalistic and cultural background she uses her ability to talk to and turn into small animals to sneak, steal and maneuver through the world. Riding on the back of a future reading coutl she uses the glimpses of the future to understand and protect the world whilst also constantly looking for new animal friends to join her, for fun and companionship.

I could see a green rogue as a vigilante who protects a city, ancient ruins, or even just a family while hiding in the shadows. They'd use their skills to conserve what they see as natural and try to prevent too much change in their environment, as they believe things are the way they are because it's the only thing they know that doesn't need to change. While a ranger could be similar to this, this kind of rogue is able to systematically undermine factories, governments, or things that would pollute their environment. Probably a Simic or even Sultai rogue

Great vid. On the note of green, I think it comes out most when paired with white. This would be more of an assasin or spie, as opposed ot a street urchin who learned to fend for themselves. Here are some examples I thought of. WBG: An assasin or spy, in service to the crown tasked with protecting the realm. They serve their masters by taking away any threath to the established order, ensuring no peasant uprising is successfull and every plot to overthrow the monarchy fails. It takes the WB idea of an ruling elite and reinforce that position using tradition. A good example of this are the Dai Li, their fighting style is more akin to a monk but the rest of the idea stands. They are the cultural authority of Ba Sing Se and will capture, interrogate, and imprison political dissidents to protect the status quo. WUG: A manipulator, an inquisitive or mastermind who uses their guile and skills to curb the excesses of progress and conservatism which could destabilize the realm. Arranging a diplomatic marriage between rivalling noble houses, airing the dirty laundry of an overzealous bishop, disuading support of rebbels through the use of propaganda, ....

The rogue I'm playing now is very esper. The difference is he's young. Instead of growing older and seeing his actions have consequences he got taken in young by his nation's spy order and became the right hand in training of the crown princess. The two of them both saw the importance of systems and structure, as well as how easily that can be manipulated. The two vowed to work together to do something about the rot at the heart of the kingdom. He's a very caring person but that care comes from his connection to white rather than a more emotional red place and I love playing him.

I was thinking what about , what about Green/White rogue. Someone who learns what they can about every actor involved and brings people together from the background. I sorta think of the Lowtown trilogy. The main character was a former “FBI” who left due to…circumstances. While he does operate outside the law with his own criminal thing, both law enforcement and criminals look to him to keep the natural order of society in place. If a gang turns to otherworldly monstrosities for their crimes, he gets involved. When a politician might be up to something, the FBI reluctantly call on him to work it out. He can connect multiple opposing forces to work together. It’s not symbiotic as much as mutually beneficial for the greater good. Though, his character is pretty old, so he probably spans across multiple colors. But I think his character has elements that could be used for a Green/White rogue.

For a pure white rogue I imagine a inquisitor type of character one that embodies white's more negative aspects namely the need to maintain order at *any* cost such as intimidation, interrogation and surveillance and eliminating even the slightest threat real or not. Of course this more for a villain or adversary the party encounters as it would be hard to play this kind of character in usual party.

Maybe I would say that red is as essential as Blue or black because rogues are often very carismathic, with high capacity to manipulate other with their high carisma. Also rogues are brave by definition and always put themselves in high risk situations, often they are the bravest of the party in that sense. I can see the rogues always having the craziest plans and ideas. For all those reasons I see rogues as blue black red. I see blue black as creepy scientists that never goes out of their laboratories. Rogues have thirst for adventure and that makes them red.

I think that the colour black is inherent to the class of the rogue, because the idea behind the class is that they are some form of outlaw or use lawless and dishonorable tactics to obtain what they want. I can't say there can't be a selfless or honorable rogue, but I think that by design most if not all rogues are probably black.

I feel like the role Green could play in a rogue is as the justification of a rogue: that the hand they were dealt in life is to be the scrapper and the scavenger. I dont think it's entirely necessary to include all of the nature flavor in order to have a character that follows the tenets Green stands for (community, tradition, harmony). I could see a kind of family/tradition-oriented rogue character ala Sly Cooper as Green-Blue: Mastering the art of thievery not out of selfishness or necessarily a rough upbringing, but out of fulfilling the role they were born into as the heir of a family of thieves. It's what they were born to do.

The Green Rogue is the aspect of green that looks to their place in society. They see themselves as a mechanism to civilized existence that might be hard to look at, but is otherwise needed. This color pairing might be Sultai or Golgari, but the additional colors don't take away from the fact that a Green rogue knows their role in the world around them, whether they be arbiters of death, saboteurs of the apex predators of civilization or as just another spec of sand on an infinitely stretching beach

my thoughts on a green aligned rogue: A highwayman or bandit, possibly raised in a nomadic culture, and therefore never really comfortable in big cities. Learned the art of theft, grift and hustle as part of a cultural or family tradition, since denial of settlement precluded typical professional occupation. without a home to call their own, they choose to take refuge in wild or abandoned places where the law are reluctant to follow. Having learned to live off the land, they have modelled their tactics after ambush predators. Like pack hunters, they are loyal, deadly, and fiercely territorial. Beholden to no law but there own, they follow a strict set of customs, motivated as much by survival as morality. Know these and follow them, and green rogues can be unwavering allies, but they treat anyone outside their pack as a potential threat.

The way you describe blue toward rogue seems like it can be applied to literally any class. “Mastering their craft” is definitely nowhere near the top of the list of things most people would think of when they think of rogues. If anything, the first images people will think of with rogues are usually gallant swashbucklers, usually associated with red, and bloodthirsty assassins, usually associated with black.

I must respectfully disagree with blue being a core color for rouge. Let's take a look at wizards for this as blue would be undoubtedly a core color for them. They seek to mater their craft not because it's a tool but because they're either a perfectionist or they take great pride and/or pleasure from learning and mastering the craft. Now take the default rouge. They don't care about perfecting their craft past making sure they don't get caught. They look out for number one and maybe have a little fun along the way. The skills are a tool and not personality defining, otherwise every class would have blue as a core color because of how the game is played. That being said I could easily see a blue rouge who got started with thieves craft because they love the challenge it brings them and want to master it to say they're the best.

I disagree with your assessment of green. I can very much see a rogue who is red green, or red green blue. Green is the color of instinct and following your gut, red the color of emotion, blue the strive for perfection. Without blue I see this rogue as someone who instinctively hides from others because they are scared all the time. Adding blue, I can see a rogue who has the inherent need to satiate their curiosity, especially what is to be found behind those devious locked doors. I can also see a rogue with green being the goblin or Kobold rogue, they know they are small and frail, playing into that nature by finding ways to fight that use wit or speed instead of brawn. Green is the color of instinct and following your nature. Perhaps you are a kenku who is gathering shiny trinkets for an elaborate mating ritual, or because your just a crow person and crows loves shiny things. All good reasons for green.
