Rogue T0.5 / Darkmantle set is the New BIS!! - Classic WoW Phase 5

I just got my 8/8 shadowcraft last night on my alt human sword rogue. The set performs surprisingly well in raid. I even managed to get a CTS and Brutality blade before getting any T1 or T2 pieces for armor. I will say that grinding the set out was very difficult but well worth it. Be prepared to do anywhere from 5-8 dungeons a day for a little over a week to get it. I'll share the amount of kills it took to get every piece (From Deadly Boss Mods) Note: You will absolutely 100% need the 8/8 set if you want the best pieces of Dark Mantle. Since the pieces are unlocked in a specific order. Quest 1: Wrists Quest 2: Belt and Gloves Quest 3: Pants, Shoulders, Belt Quest 4: Helm and Tunic General Drakkisath (Shadowcraft Tunic, 10 Man UBRS): 16 Kills ,12% Drop Chance Rattlegore (Shadowcraft Boots, Scholomance): 16 Kills, 18.45% Drop Chance - (note: I saw at least 3 SC Boots drop but I had to stay in Scholomance for my SC helm) Darkmaster Gandling (Shadowcraft Helm, Scholomance): 14 Kills. 11.99% Drop Chance - (note: I ran this with a guildmate early on and lost my helm to him at the start of my grind) Cannon Master Willey (Shadowcraft Shoulders, Strat Live): 11 Kills, 18.57% Drop Chance Barron Rivendare (Shadowcraft Legs, Stat Undead): 9 Kills , 10.14% Drop Chance - (note: I also grinded Baron for his cloak, I saw 2 pants before my 9th kill for cloak) As for the Shadowcraft Bracers, Gloves, and Belt, I bought them all off of the auction house. Shadowcraft bracers: 15G Shadowcraft Gloves: 150G Shadowcraft Belt: 25G (Prices may vary depending on the server) The idea for me was to grind this set so I could skip out on T1/T2 pieces going into phase 5. Technically speaking, it is quicker to grind the set out over the span of a week than it is to get your phase 4 BiS over the course of multiple weeks. I will also provide some useful tips as to how I formed my groups with ease. - UBRS (SC Tunic) form 10 man groups, Fish for Jed to incentivize casters to join for their Briarwood Reed. Reserve Shadowcraft Tunic from the start but free roll everything else. In short, melee classes want the Nature Resist pieces from Rend, Paladins may want their Valor Chest, And your general casters will want Briarwood Reed/Wand from Jed) - Scholomance (SC Boots and Helm), Mana users will do Scholomance for Dark Runes. Dark Runes are also needed to craft Dark Mantle but it is better to just give them to mana users to incentive them to join you. Pass on all runes and hope you can find tanks or melee DPS that need to do their Mirahs Song Quest. Doing Jandice is a pain so skip Jandice and even Ras Frostwhisper when possible (Though Ras drops a flask recipe that sells for a few hundred gold) - Strat Live (SC Shoulders), your tank or healer will almost always want to reserve the orbs (about 30G a piece) offer them the ability to rez the first one and free roll the rest. When I did this, I always passed on every orb and people always came back. I passed on a couple hundred gold doing this but it was well worth it. Alternatively, you can do the "round robin" method where if someone wins an orb, they have to pass on any following orbs so they are shared equally. - Strat UD (SC Legs), Most people need UD for Baron Cloak, Animated Chain Necklace, or Robes of the Exalted. It should be pretty simple to still get groups for Strat UD. In addition, feel free to tell people you are grinding out that specific dungeon. I added multiple tanks, mages, and healers so I could whisper them and offer them to join me whenever I saw they were online. It can make group formation way easier. Another side-note, When doing Strat UD/Live and Scholomance, wear a Argent Dawn Commission. It gets you reputation for the Argent Dawn which will be useful when Nax drops (Exalted rep with Argent Dawn allows free access to Nax). I went from neutral to 5k/21k Revered with the Argent Dawn with around 80 tokens left to turn in. To put that into perspective, my alt has far more reputation with the Argent Dawn than my main. Lastly, come phase 5, new recipes and items will be added to the game. This means that people will have a general incentive to run these dungeons again even if they have their BiS sets and Nature Resistance gear. This short guide is mainly for phase 4 and the early stages of phase 5. I have no idea what group formation will look like with AQ for these dungeons but I figured I'd let you know what I did before it came out. I hope you guys find this useful. I know it is a lot of information but use it for your advantage. And good luck with the grind!

Keep in mind that at least some of the Dagger Rogues will be respecing to Seal Fate once they get Death's Sting so the T2.5 set bonus will actually be amazing for them too. It doesn't matter if you drop the weapon skill from talents either because you will have the soft cap of 308 with ACLG and DS and T2.5 also has some really nice agility for that oh so sweet crit% that you're gonna need as Seal Fate.

What is the best weapon enchants for sword rogues, is it double crusader or crusader/15+ agility? I read that on OH weapons with a speed of 2.0 or lower you benefit more with 15+ agility and OH weapons that are slower than 2.0 you benefit more with crusader. Is it any truth in this?

Hey Sarthe, question for you. in a previous video about top upgrades in bwl you rank the bloodfang chest as one of the largest upgrades to get in BWL. With this update to BIS would you not recommend getting the bloodfang chest if you haven't been able to get one yet? I mainly asking because I am still trying to get some of the high demand pieces. Not really worth it for alliance rogue. In the best case scenario, it gets really close to t2 bis. (putting on all zg enchants etc) This is especially true for alliance player with king and zg buff. The Agi loss of darkmantle set is too huge to make up to. Darkmantle seems to be fairly decent for horde because of lack of king and not using poison. The best 4 piece darkmantle will break 3 set t2 bonus for alliance.

I can't find substantial evidence for dagger rogues and swing timers, do you need to sync backstab with your swing? Went testing my swing timer doesn't reset.

its not backstagb or sinister strike that resets the swingtimer. its that u can get a HoJ proc or windfury proc from that bs/ss which will reset the swingtimer.

The full T2 set bonus is actually really strong for sword rogues. The proc rate is about 5% on mainhand swings. You should expect it to result in a total gain of 20-30 dps, which makes it BIS unless you're in on of those guilds that kills everything in under 30 seconds anyway.

Swap out BF Shoulders for Mad Cap Mantle from ZG, along with the ZG trinket (Get rid of Blackhands Breadth before HoJ, obviously). Swap out BF Boots for Boots of the Shadow Flame off Nef. You could probably also swap out BF gloves for T1 gloves for the hit, but that's probably the least essential change.

you can get 65 Energy with the elemental leather pieces where you can get 30 energy plus the 35 energy of t0.5 set. I'm very pleased and very high dmg with the 3 Bonus set. but when t0.5 Comes out, i cant wait to see the big energy procs of both sets together, so you hit more with yellow hits. I am the only rogue with this individual set. No one heard about this kind of combo. I also play arlokks grasp and thekals grasp, the proc rate is higher by having always extra Energy procs but with t0.5 i should be even more tiger form. Im very pleased with the proc rate. I have been daggers but with daggers i feel way to dangerous with aggro. With fist weapons i have much more fun. i feel unique in this way how i set up all.The elemental 3 Bonus set from leatherwork had often 2-3 procs nearly in same time. so kinda 60 to 90 within in a few secounds. I really want to try this out… But… im unsure if its worth going for it since I would like to put all enchants etc on both armorpieces and on the dual fistweapoins… With all the gold going into doing the darkmantle quest and then going for all enchants its probably close to 1k gold atleast.. I want to try it.. but I would like to get a hint on how it compares dps-wise? I mean, by going the energyregen (darkmantle+stormshroud) with the primal blessing set, do you fall way behind in dps or how do you compare to your fellow sword and dagger rogues? Atm im almost full bis dagger but been playing dagger from the start of vanilla.. Primal blessing with the 2 armor sets combined would be a nice change in playstyle for some time atleast ^^

Lol... WoW Classic has been broken by over-enthusiastic nostalgia-seekers who are steam-rolling through whole raids as if it's today's retail leveling-dungeons. Not to be a party-pooper, but the amount of pure calculated steam-roll-factor that's going on in most of the raiding-guilds is just kinda depressing. There's no exploration and learning as you go, at least not for those who played vanilla back in the day or read up on everything before finally playing. - People know exactly where to go and what to do... I've changed my mind on WoW Classic, after seeing a few of these videos. The memories are there, but you can't relive them, and trying to do so will be some form of murder, lol. But that's just me. If you are swords you probably want to go 8/8 due to loot priority, but know that 2 piece madcap and boots of shadow flame clown suit is comparable to 8/8. If darkmantle proc is consistent with shadowcraft, then the bis is the clown suit that sarthe mentions in the video
