I'm glad self inserts were mentioned because lots of people still do those and like Muir mentioned it's how lots of new writers get started (me included) The fight with Dudley was so off not because he was spiraling from (what I see as) not being accepted by the people who could make him one of the Force which is his dream, but because the cadets have tougher and likely faster vehicles WITH USABLE WEAPONS and yet still end up under a piece of plastic. Like guys.. please.. you've fought against worse, and some kid who probably doesn't even have military training bested you? That's too far off the mark for me, now if they underestimated him and then Dudley used it against them that I can work with
