Its like that in every unpopular sport. The publicity simply isnt there, so there isnt as much money, as in football, F1 or basketball. Take mountainbike downhill for example. First place in a mens world cup race will only get you 3750$, so even if you won every race of the season, you still couldnt cover your racing expenses without a sponsor, let alone make a living, but you put your health at risk all the time. As a junior or woman the price money is even less. In these nieche disciplines you simply rely on sponsors.

I just wanted to ask a genuine doubt. How are Weights initially decided at these Strongman events? Are the weights told to the Athletes beforehand? Thank You!

The deadlift really screwed most competitors over, it would’ve been nice to see them all compete at close to 100% in these events with deadlift in the end. Thor doesn’t have much competition with an injured Shaw

But would anyone be able to get close to a wr after 4 other events? They need to quit putting on pressure to break records for marketing purposes in my opinion. Either way its give/take situation.

@@JaredTG. powerlifters do it all the time it's the last event after squat and bench. a max DL event shouldn't be first maybe 2nd or 3rd, but its a way of drawing in a big crowd for the opening day.

@@JaredTG. best solution is to give a days break after all the events to get prepared physically for the DL

Licis is future WSM. Thor is on another level, they just cant keep up with him. He may push Eddie to come back from retirement.

thor just bigger than everyone else in that event. It's like competing against toddlers, sure you win but what does that even prove?
@miSc_dk

@@drawmaster77 I don't think that's a fair statement. Brian Shaw is almost as big as Thor, but not as strong. Sure there is also an age difference, and Brian had to opt out because of injury. But if you look at the competitions before this, Thors strength has been steady increasing.
