Can you do a review of Tna Turning Point 2024? I thought the show was very fun.

The American Wolves were going to TNA and this was supposed to be their ROH farewell match, but Davey did an interview where he was critical of the booking in Ring of Honor at the time, so ROH dropped him from the match entirely. After that, CZW decided to capitalize on the situation by booking Davey on their show, which took place on the same night in nearby New Jersey. I think both parties came off looking bad there. ROH were in the wrong for depriving the fans of an American Wolves farewell match out of spite, and Richards was in the wrong for bashing a company he still worked for. Interestingly, Chris Hero wrestled Drew Gulak on that CZW show, then showed up at Final Battle later that same night.

Interesting. I always heard Davey was gonna wrestle but didn't know why he was pulled.

@@princeofstrongstyle6683 I couldn't remember if he quit before Final Battle or if he was dropped right before the show. I know Davey was more pro Gabe originally before the falling out with EVOLVE but realistically he was pushed and utilized better after Gabe got fired. I think that whole run from late 2008 until Best In The World 2011 was his absolute prime. I know he was not a Cornette guy but he was out of the equation by this point but I guess it's safe to say he wasn't happy with Sinclair management leading up to the show. I always thought the Wolves were going to WWE first but it fell through and the back up plan was TNA.

@SandersRobin24 Yeah I remember The Wolves did have a tryout match on TV against The Ascension in 2013 but apparently didn't turn out that well. Hilariously their NXT names were Tge American Pitbulls with Eddie named John Cahill & Davey as Derek Billington (no doubt had to be an homage y To Dynamite Kid Tom Billington).

​@@princeofstrongstyle6683 The NXT stuff was talked about on The Kevin Steen Show episode with Davey Richards. Apparently WWE wanted to sign the American Wolves, but strictly as developmental wrestlers for NXT. Richards said he didn't want to go to NXT and would only sign if the Wolves were brought up for main roster positions. WWE refused, so they signed with TNA instead. It's easy to look back in hindsight and say the Wolves made a huge mistake by not taking the NXT offer, but at the time, NXT was still in its infancy and no one knew how good it would eventually become. This was before the Takeover specials turned the brand into a hot commodity, so it was still viewed as FCW 2.0 at this point.

Well the guy was the most over guy at MSG the night Rock was in the building so I wouldn't say it's the worst thing in the world.

​@@SandersRobin24 The only way I think fans can accept this happening is if it doesn't main event & the spot goes to an Athena title defense (taking a guess it's against Billie Starkz or someone else).

@@princeofstrongstyle6683 Most likely not going to be the main event. I guess the thought process is that not enough people care so let's try charisma over wrestling ability. Problem is I'm not sure how much TV time they get to make enough people care?

@@SandersRobin24 Very little; well at-least on Honor Club. The entire card looks pretty weak. Only bout that peaks my interest in the WTT Championship bullrope match because the one co-challenger (Dutch) was a student of Dusty Rhodes' (and Dustin is a co-defender).
