So basically Japan has the Goat of Baseball and the MLB can't have him till he is 25
@marshalniel Жыл бұрын
He can jump to the MLB next year. The same age like Ohtani did in 2018. Problem is for Sasaki, if he jump to the Majors before he turn 25, he will be payed like a rookie, probably 730K / year for the first 2 yrs. Ohtani did that in 2018 and the Angels only pay the posting fee 20M. If Sasaki jump to the Majors after he turn 25, he can sign big contract right away. And the Japanese team only get percentage from that big contract. Thats why Munetaka Murakami choose to stay with Swallows and sign 13.2M USD for 3 yrs with Yakult, so he can jump to the Majors at age 26
@ParamoreFAV37 ай бұрын
@@marshalnielI love the insight fam, but it’s not that easy. He has to go through an entire process; Ohtani asked for his release (the best way to say it) and was granted by the league he played for. They can’t just decide on their own. He literally has to get permission.

They likely won't release him because they won't get their big payday. Like with Yamamoto, if he signs for $300M, the club that he leaves gets something like $50M posting fee.

In addition ,he got four strikes out from Masataka Yoshida in a row on his perfect game.Because even Yoshida who had scored only 29 strikes out through 2020 season,was lik e played with Roki's fastball,splitter,and also slider . From a perspective of a fan of Japanese Professional Baseball,his potential must exceeds Yu Darvish's (2005~2011).I have very tough confidence.

I am an American who lives in Japan and watches him very closely. You are correct and he had a very good season in 2022 but this year he was hurt for two or three months I can’t remember which. He was hurt because they don’t know how to use him correctly. The coaching staff is racking him! They keep making him throw sliders and split finger fastball’s before he establishes his 100 mile an hour fastball. He’s working his arm and they’re letting it happen!

all this obsession with velocity does is cause more pitchers to be on the list for Tommy Johns. it's essentially accepted that if you're a starter you're going to get one at some point.
@Thesavagemeister77 Жыл бұрын
Obsession with velocity? Thats like saying the nfl has an obsession with 40 times 😅 Dont you think the harder you throw, the harder it is to hit? And dont make the greg maddux argument, if he couldve done what he did with a 5 to 10 mph boost on his pitches he woulve been even more insane to try to hit. Yea throwing harder does lead to more surgery, i dont think they are going to get the guys to throw slower anytime soon though

You forgot to mention that in that crucial game against Mexico he only pitched 4 1/3 innings because he allowed 3 runs, so yea he is going to be good, but he is definitely going to struggle a few seasons until he learns to pitch against much better hitters
@user-ze3wq8xb6u Жыл бұрын
Yes, he will be trained more I think. And he is doing well. As you know that Team Mexico was much stronger than Team US. Team M. defeated US 11 vs 5. That game was a real final match I undeestand. If he didn't lose score he would be a favorite(well, Mlb already planned to give Ohtani and he carried on anyway). Well, he did his best and Samurai Japan won. He is experienced and confident more I'm sure. No doubt R.Sasski is a great pitcher and he wiil be a legend in Mlb✌🎉❤
@JPuReTaLeNt7 ай бұрын
The starters were only allowed to go 65 pitches that game. He really only made 3 mistakes. A 2 strike survival swing where the shift wasn’t at, a 2 strike bloop over 3rd baseman’s head, and then the hanging split. So if you think about it he only made one mistake as the other 2 hits were poor contact just in the right spots
