Hi Rob, I’m a diving instructor over 20 years and an engineer, I have been dealing with underwater lamps and cameras for the bigger part of my life. The WaterWolf housing is from injection molded plastic, which means there is no variation in the manufacturing process. From my experience in over 8000 hours underwater, the biggest cause for drowned camera housings and lamps is opening and closing the housing without cleaning the O-ring and lubricating them with silicone grease. I know sometimes it has to be quick open/close to get going, but that’s in 90% of the cases the issue for drowned electronics. I love what you are doing Rob, I am as crazy for fishing as you are! Would love to have the chance one day to meet you and go for a fish together. Stay safe and all the best to you and your family.
@mini6964 жыл бұрын
Sorry mate, to say there is no variation is false.
@manr.91064 жыл бұрын
8meterwish How much variation do you think there is? 0.1mm if the moulding machine is setup correctly. That’s not enough for the O-ring to be ok at first and after opening and closing to fail. Sorry but when i said i am an engineer, i forgot to say Polymertechnology speciality Injection Molding.

It's been great being able to watch something like this and seeing how positive you always are during quarantine. As far as the WaterWolf's: I'm not sure how easy they are to take apart, but I would maybe try a conformal coating on the board and then silicone to seal up any other air gaps. I wouldn't imagine heat buildup would be much of an issue considering these are usually be surrounded by water while in use. I wish you and your family the best-both health wise and financially, stay safe, and keep up the great content!
