I’m not sure if this has already been stated or not, I have just figured it out myself. I do not have the wireless headphone option on my tv and after some researching I figured out how to do this. Step 1- download Roku app on phone Step 2- connect to your tv in the Roku app Step 3- turn on private listening in Roku app settings Step 4- connect your headphones to your phone Step 5- watch on your tv and listen through your phone. Problem solved 🎉! I have done this and it now works for my tv.

Thats wild i gave the most recent Roku tv and it somehow in this day and age doesn't have it and I'm irritated now I have to use the Roku app which half the time doesn't even connect it just says wake this device when the TV is clearly already on and it never connects I gotta restart the TV and my phone like 50 times till it actually works

That is the biggest frustration! My app does the same thing, keep dropping the TV sound. I don't know how many times I've had to delete & redownload the app.

Sadly most Roku TVs and devices outside of the very latest models have this option as they don't support Bluetooth and that includes most compact onn Roku TV models dont have it either as mine's brand new. ☹ And the app solution is less than ideal so is off the table as well so that leaves trying to buy old (RF) Radio Frequency Wireless headphones which are expensive and hard to find as the only viable alternative for the immense majority of Roku hardware users.
