I wouldn't consider Rolan a small character. You encounter and interact with him in every act and he has a lot of story to interact with. The party, in the grove, at last light and the shadow lands. And finally he sets himself up as a business owner at the end. He's a big part of the story! I mean he even has a redemption arc.

@@tylernorman117 Definitely more than a "business owner". Spoiler: He's litteraly the master of a magical artillery tower. Basiclly BG's own version of an Iron Dome.

Rolan is my most favorite NPC, man.. he has many layers, I love how you personify his arrogance and hidden compassion with your voice. Hope if there is BG4, he will be a companion ;)

Agreed. Let me just say that he's a tiefling. That's already a plus in my book. And I could tell just by looking at him that he has an abrasive outer shell, but a huge softie inside. At several parts in the story, i kept going "I KNEW IT" every time Rolan's heart was on his sleeve. biggest smile on my face towards the end of his story.

This is so weird. I’m on my third play through and I just got to last light inn. As I was talking to Rolan I literally was thinking “damn his va’s awesome. I wonder if he’s played. I’d love to see his reaction to his performance.”

It’s amazing how the characters resemble the voice actors every time i see someone new to me. Anspd yes, I find Rolan also looks like him, just as a tiefling :D

it's because for a lot of the major characters (definitely the companions for sure) the voice actors also did the MOCAP for the animation. easy to use their real faces/bodies as models and go from there.

Rolan is one of my favorite NPCs. His character growth from act 1 to 3 is amazing!

I forgot to talk to Rolan in the Grove on my current Honour Mode run, which means he and Mattis and a few other notable Tieflings aren't here in Act 2 and won't be in Act 3 and now I feel really bad. I'm sorry, George, I'll never forget to talk to Rolan ever again

I didn't encourage him and his siblings to wait to leave the Grove, so they weren't with alfira's group when they were attacked... Which also means Rolan wasn't there to save the kids, I've been hoping they'll be at moonrise... Are they actually dead?

I fell in love with how you portrayed Rolan so much omg. He's definitely a character I wish was an actual companion, even if we can't romance him in the future, I just want to see this grumpy little wizard in my camp

Love Rolan. Soon as I noticed he ran off to save Cal and Lia, I immediately looked up where he would be and refused to long-rest til I found him. I'll be damned if that drunken idiot is getting himself killed being a good person. That's my job. So glad I did now that I'm in Act 3. Love the personality and care given even the small characters in this game! Corpses gasping out fragmented sentences in this game have more story behind them than entire franchises from other games.

Thank you for uploading your streams😭You're literally the best. It might sound odd but having this play in the background is so comforting to me and it helps me sleep. It makes me think of when I was home in the US living with my brother and my nephew. Very nice to see members of the supportinst cast playing to game on the interwebs! 😊 On my first playthrough, Rolan hated my character. On my second playthrough he mellowed out and was friendly to my character, but Shadowheart chose to become a Dark Justiciar, so he unfortunately did not make it to Baldur's Gate. Perhaps we'll be allies on my 3rd playthrough!

Love seeing the cast playing the game. Especially if they make it a roleplaying experience. There is a lot of value in not save-scumming and letting the story unfold in new and unexpected ways. It also makes the experience less trivial. That being said, save scumming to get the sword (Everburn) is relatively harmless. From what you said I got the impression that you already see the value of letting the story unfold naturally. So all is good, hope you are enjoying this awesome game you helped make!

I've had Lae'zel use the nautiloid fire sword for at least half or more of the game. Definitely worth it! If you need to justify it, perhaps consider she would have known it's worth even if your player character and you do not. 😉 When I play D&D, my fellow players that the character I'm playing has a better memory than I do, and are happy to help me, the player, remember what my character already knows. 🥰
