Appreciate hearing a bit more from these synths and not just the built-in pattern sequences!

Wow, These look amazing! I owned a JD800 back in the day.....was a huge beast, but it was so much fun to play!

Crazy how small they've managed to make it while keeping the hands-on control!

@@StoreDJ_online Yes, provided human hands shrunk along with it. At least Donald Trump can play one 🤣

had a JD800 when it came out in the 90s, was looking to buy one now but I might go for the JD08 option also for size to travel when doing a live performance

I heard once that the collective noun for a Roland JX-8P and a Roland JD800 was Orbital...

Thanks for this demo. I'm pretty new to synths and looking for my first one as addition to my TR-6S drum machine (what brought me to roland in the first place). I'm trying to decide between these two as i like the USB-Interface capability and the 2 layers of the step sequencer which should enable me to play bass and chords on only one device. Right? I'm still not sure which one to choose as i have not found my sound yet...Do you have any recommendations? Maybe which one of these two is more flexible or more capable of specific sounds/genres?

Is it possible to set the master tuning of the instruments (especially JD-08) on tunings different from 440hz?

I’ve watched a number of videos about both machines and I’m still not sure, which 1 has the best organ & electronic brass patches?

So can I use the same power source cable that I use w my D-05 and connect that cable to the new JX-08 or is it a different cable? Thanks for the video.
@StoreDJ_online3 жыл бұрын
Hi, the D-05 used Micro USB and these use USB-C now. So you would need a new cable to power these new ones. They still can be powered via batteries as well though.

Need to hear a comparison with the JX8P factory sounds to know if it has the analogue character.

Didn't Roland say they weren't chasing ghosts!!! Looks like they are to try to keep up with Behringer!

The market reality is people with money want the classics though many japanese companies have been in denial for the last couple of decades

Too small to play properly. Unless of course its for someone who just plays back tracks and isn't a musician. Then an I phone is fine

Big step? I'd say downgrade. Something with less options, and vst sound quality... Big step is how moog did its minimoog reissue. That's what I call a big step. If Roland will make a vintage reissue, then that'll be called a big step. My opinion.
@AynsleyGreen2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but you're comparing a $600 module to a $6000 boutique instrument. As small cheap synth modules go, these are pretty competitive.
@marike11002 жыл бұрын
VST sound quality in 2022 is not a negative, and since the JD800 was a digital synth, what are you even talking about? He meant they are a step up in terms of polyphony, features, and nobody can say they don’t sound great on their own. And while forums continue to have these silly VCO vs DCO debates, a huge number of big producers including Jon Hopkins are making their albums exclusively in Ableton Live. And it’s $399 and you’re talking about a Moog Minimoog $4000 monosynth. 😂
