For a battery powered, solid state amp, I am very impressed. I also find that when I hear the Amps in person, they sound much better. Except when the recording is made at a very high end by Roland, Sweetwater or major seller. Good luck with your new amp. Keep us posted on it's durability. Thanks for the video.

I have one here...great little amp that I put the acoustic through and also a Shure Beta corded mike...the amp has never let me down...the six energiser batteries seem to go on forever...but I take the power chord with it at all times.

"Thanks man!!.. Great review!".. I'm just in the midst of deciding to buy one.. I have it's baby brother.. The "Street Cube".. & that's great also".. I've been using that for busking with about 5 years or so..& I'm ready to upgrade to something bigger.. As I use guitar, Mic, IPad & Mini disc player also.. So this will suit my requirements just fine.. I'm also using a big battery & inverter system to power my busking gear, so am looking forward to trialling this new amp.. Cheers.. Doc J..

Thankx Marc. I bought the Cube Street EX and am loving it with my d'Aigle autoharp. People should know: * The Street Cube EX sounds better than the original Street Cube because it's got tweeters for those high strings. * Line 2 Acoustic setting sounds better than Line 1 because it's ported through a preamp (which doesn't go as loud as Line 1). If you need more volume, switch to Line 1. * Reverb and Chorus sound heavenly on autoharp. * Roland makes a nice custom fit padded case for this amp. * Here's a neat trick... Thump the 'harp's strings with a wooden spoon instead of finger picks and get a quiet hammered dulcimer sound UNTIL it's plugged into this sweet amp. Happy Trails!

Hi Marc, thanks for the review. Hopefully you will have used the amp since your review can you give update on the Roland EX on performance. Have you used battery only? if so what was the life before fading? I am cosidering to buy to use for vocal with backing tracks ,will this do the job for outside performances? Thanks Marc I welcome your update.

Have you tried it outdoors ? have you used the cube jam feature for performance or recording.. I play banjo and want to use it for backing tracks. I'm not sure how much I'd need the battery feature.. I could get a really nice acoustic amp with tons of features for that price.. I'm going back and forth.. thanks for the reveiw, kudos.. Kirby
@JeighNeither8 жыл бұрын
+Kirby Nils These amps are amazing Kirby. You will only be amazed by them. I certainly wouldn't be playing autoharp on the acoustic simulation with one, but it's great for any kind of backing tracks...and it is incredibly light. Who doesn't need the battery feature...well, maybe if you don't play electric something...but your backing tracks need juice and an amp so.... Anyway, you can't go wrong with this amp.

Your auto harp sounds great. On mine it is the tin sound. Sorry I bought it. But I don't learn. Had a micro cube & the cleans were the same as this one when cranked even a little just sound like artificial clean. I'm not complaining about the usual digital fizz most hear sometimes. It is a whole different plastic fantastic clean that just doesn't do it for me. I'll take the Yamaha THR for guitar. Good review though & when all is said & done,,, I'm kind of jonsin for an autoharp!.

Great review. I wonder has anyone reported any issues with the sound cutting out when on 50w at no more than 50% of the volume level from line in? When using new batteries. I use an mp3 player for my music as a street performer i do use the 50w setting - which lets face it 50w for 8AA batteries. Massive reason for buying it. Need to know if i'm using it wrong or if is a common fault???
@girlinagale8 жыл бұрын
It is probably like the Mobile Cube which does cut out with non-fully charged batteries and rechargeables. I use a 9v power pack (Anker Astro Pro) and my Mobile Cube never cuts out but a friend uses AA batteries and his cuts out at +50% volume.
@thisismyboomstick39898 жыл бұрын
Hey GIAG, thanks for your input. Your bang on actually. yeah i just heard back from Roland tech support and they say its a limiter kickin in. shame cos the AA feature was a huge reason for getting it - less kit to carry. However, the shere fact it has a 50w option on batteries is a plus if only a let down that that they just didn;t increase the battery pack size so it could handle said option. You use a Anker Astro Pro... I've not seen them in use. Will av a look now tho... :-)

A question? I play guitar, vocals and stompbox. Is the low end on this amp good for a stompbox? As the original street cube and the roland ac33 lack any low end thump needed for a stompbox
@poetical24758 жыл бұрын
Yes it is. 2 months late, but I have used this witha stomp and it works fine. Better with a power source.
@johnnguyen164810 жыл бұрын
Can you run a synth through it and tell me how it sounds across both low and highs?
@celtfather10 жыл бұрын
Yes. You can run a synth as long as you run stereo (or mono) 1/4" inputs. Highs are fine, and the lows are good on the medium power saver. I would suspect the more lows you have, the more the battery would drain if you were running it off batteries, but I haven't tested that.
@CharlotteFairchild10 жыл бұрын
Have you started using a synthesizer Marc?
@johnnguyen164810 жыл бұрын
I suppose alternatively you could just play some sort of electronic music through it and see how it sounds.

Marc Gunn plays the instrument in this video. The Autoharp has 36 strings and is usually chromatic or diatonic. Marc uses chromatic. It doesn't act like a guitar!

Thanks for the suggestion. Marc has used a synth for a while and I have never. So I learned by watching the video. Maybe one day I will play with one.
