It's GarageBand on iPhone. You can use the MIDI feature on the keyboard to record loops and tracks on GarageBand.

Een klein 'review' van iemand die al veel digitale (!) piano's heeft gehad. Ik speel vooral popmuziek. En heb dus veel optredens. ;-) OK, daar gaan we. Dit is écht een leuk keyboard. Ik heb lang getwijfeld, maar dit is een blijver. Dit keyboard is heel compact en draagbaar, en dat maakt een groot verschil. Zowel wat de plaats in je woonst aangaat, als het transport (zowel in je woonst, als naar repetities of gigs). Ik hoef er geen tekening bij te maken dat je vlotter iets van 4 kg verplaatst, dan iets van 14 kg. Hetzelfde geldt voor de gig bag, hoe kleiner die is, hoe goedkoper (en er zijn gig bags van goedkope merken voor 20 Euro waarin die Roland Go perfect past). De klanken zijn goed, en misschien zou je beter de 'Keys' kopen dan de 'Piano', want die eerste heeft even goede klanken en daarbij nog heel wat meer mogelijkheden. De kleur... tja, valt mee te leven. 'Vandaag is rood'. Je kunt er altijd 'Nord' op kleven. 🙂 Die 'loops' zijn leuk, maar wel even opletten: sommige (zeer geslaagde) voorgeprogrammeerde loops kun je enkel in mineur of majeur spelen, sommige loops in zowel mineur en majeur. Ook mooi meegenomen is dat je een goede Nederlandstalige handleiding vindt op Rolands website. (Met een overzicht van klanken en loops enz.) Héél aangenaam is de bluetooth functie! Deze houdt in dat je van je smartphone of tablet muziek kunt afspelen door de speakers van de Roland Go K/P. Indien je nog geen bluetooth speakers had, heb je deze nu dus wel. En ze klinken goed. En luid en zuiver. Lekker improviseren over iRealPro bijvoorbeeld. Ook handig tijdens de pauze in een gig, achtergrond muziekje. Of waarom niet even een soundeffect uit Spotify door de mix sturen? Wel eventjes dit: die bluetooth betekent niet dat je een ander instrument kunt aansturen via de Roland (dat lukt wel via een kabel). Dat is ook niet interessant, want dan heb je vertraging, latency. Over 'vervelende dingen': de klikjes als je iets aanschakelt? Wel die kun je met een laatste klikje in het menu uitschakelen. Het menu is soms scrollen, maar je kan functies toewijzen naar 8 grote schakelaars op het keyboard, zo eenvoudig kan het zijn. Het geluid is verrassend goed en luid, al zou equalising soms wel handig zijn (want er is een volume niveau tussen de gekozen klanken, en die leer je best 100% kennen). Voor het gewicht van de toetsen kies je in het menu beter 'heavy', en dan nog... (maar als je voor piano wil gaan, moet je echt voor gewogen toetsen gaan. Kost geld. Weegt veel. Maar een beetje akkoorden neerleggen, en daarop een melodietje spelen, lukt na oefenen prima). De klanken zijn doorgaans dik OK, en er zijn er meer dan je ooit zal gebruiken, maar verwacht bv. geen natuurlijke vioolklank uit een digitale piano van weinig geld). Mijn algemeen besluit: ik had geweldige en veel duurdere piano's en keyboards in huis, maar... die geraakten niet vaak tot bij repetities of optredens. Deze wel. Als je dit instrument beheerst, met de beperktheden en mogelijkheden, ga je er veel plezier aan beleven! (NB: -dit zullen winkels niet graag lezen- het voordeel aan low cost instrumenten, is dat starters die tweedehands verkopen). En misschien overbodig maar voor de volledigheid; koop een sustain pedaal dat niet te zwaar is, maar wel behoorlijk. En een goede headphone. Vooral dat laatste: ik ken mensen met prima instrumenten en een slechte headphone... dat is als kijken naar een vuurwerk met een verkeerde bril.

Hi, nice review! I'm thinking of buying this keyboard to use in my band, however I was wondering about the output and how it sounds connected to a PA/digital mixer? I noticed the ouput is on 1/8 rather than a 1/4 jack. Have you tried connecting the output to powered speakers and/or a digital mixer, and what was the sound quality like? Were there any audio artifacts? Also, can the speakers be switched off when it's connected to external speakers?

Hi Neil, you can connect the instrument to a mixer or PA system, no problem and no artifacts... However it is an instrument in a low price range, so not all the things are at the same "level" as the more expensive synth's or performer keyboards.
