I just played it an NAMM and it is a gorgeous piano. Initially I thought it was an acoustic piano until I looked inside - lol.

I have a large, fancy living room just begging for a baby grand but the environmental changes would kill an acoustic. I have a black upright and it just looks ridiculous in that environment. I want a digital with guts to replace my previous Kurzweil Mark 10 (a K from the early 90s when they were pretty good. It was a church oriented model at the time and pretty beefy in the sound department, but alas, it has finally died and I can’t find a repair person to fix it. Thus, if I must replace it, might as well do a baby grand if I can swing it). So, I went looking for comparison reviews of the comparable Yamahas, Rolands, and Kawai instruments (both grands and uprights). Then I went to try them yesterday. I tried all the new Rolands and Kawais in the $3k-$10k and really liked the feel if both (I haven’t tried the Yamahas yet). I was not impressed with the Kawai control interface but the sound of the Roland’s were better. I generally play the piano sound selections and the church organ sounds (which my Kurzweil was pretty good on) so that is my focus and the Roland GP609 and the upright LX17 both sounded and felt really good to me. The GP607 is good too but much underpowered than either the 609 or the LX17. For those who are space limited though, the GP607 is fine, but side by side, the 609 wins for shear gusto. The LX17 is a really nice instrument too and I was surprised how much I liked it considering my preference for the furniture aspect of the grand. I still need to try the Yamahas and Kawais again but for now, the Rolands have my vote. Hope I can swing the price but, man, a decent digital Grand is on my bucket list and now with the infinite polyphony of the physical modelling (sounds pretty good to my ear) and the new PHA50 keys (felt llively to my hands which get pretty arthritic after playing for even a short while, these keys felt great... no forearm pain at all) I am thinking that either a 609 or the LX17 is coming home with me (the LX can fit in my Subaru and save the delivery fee that I would need to pay for installing the GP609. Still, that Grand would be lovely). Hopefully, I can get some feedback on reliability etc before I make my final decision. Oh, BTW, this video doesn’t do these instruments any favors. Go try them before you judge the sound. Try the acoustic piano or organ selections rather than the electric piano sounds like they did here. In the flesh, you may find you like the sound better than what this video kind of suggests.

You already said the upright looked ridiculous in your fancy livingroom so why bother with the LX model just to save delivery fee and store wouldn't include delivery in order to sell a grand piano??? I'm sure you already know that Roland's warranty is 10 years in home.

Second vid of this product I've watched, and it sounds digital IMO.

All digital pianos sound digital...because they are.

I have. GP609. It is a great Piano. Only thing I dislike is the app. It hardly ever connects via Bluetooth and I have the latest Ipad Pro model. The yamaha counterpart app is much more useful. However I would like to upgrade to a real Grand. Nobody wants to even take the GP609 as a trade in. Most I got as an offer is 2k and I bought it less than a year ago for 9k with tax and delivery. I wonder what a fair market used value is for a GP609, there are none for sale online. Its actually hard to find to buy new!

I would give you way more than $2k for it and this is 2 years after your post.

The question that should be asked is can the 300 drunks you're playing for in the club tell the difference?
@donkgated80744 жыл бұрын
Does it matter? The same 300 drunks in the club think every girl is as hot as [insert your favourite girl here].

Sounds very digital and cheesey. If I’m going to buy a digital keyboard, why on earth would I buy that huge honking thing? That’s a pain in the ass that isn’t worth it. Roland is useless

all for the aesthetics. Better to buy an FP90 or RD2000, which have similar piano sounds. They sound kinda digital in some parts though. I prefer the one from the V-piano grand/RD800

For 12$ you have a grand touch, a killer sound system, grand cabinet. Yes it is huge but if your making clip..this look and sound way better then a f series stage piano...or f..nope it isnt the same sound at all..especially when projected by the sound system. The market is for church, bar, restaurant..where there is no need to worry about humidity change and tuning..i have a real yamaha c3.. and it cost money to maintain.

Roland created weighted digital pianos.. they’re not useless

You are aware that most of the demo in the background is of an electric piano, right? I think she's too busy talking to notice that as well!
