Thank you for this expose into the Life of Sir Roland Hanna. I learned so much about him in this hour that past me by during my 55 years of living with and around him.

Sir Roland Hanna was a national treasure. His playing on Sarah Vaughn’s “Crazy and Mixed Up” with Joe Pass is simply sublime! This interview shows just how wonderful he was as a person. Thank you!

Another wonderful interview by Monk Rowe (can't get enough of these interviews!). I first heard Roland Hanna years ago when I bought his album of Duke Ellington piano solos. Since then, I've collected many of his out of print LPs, filled with his original compositions. He's a fantastic composer, pianist, and all around jazz scholar! It's a pleasure to hear him talk about his life, training, and career.

The tune that Thad " borrowed " from Sir Roland was " A Child Is Born " !

Roland discusses this at 1:00:23 in this video. Mark Styker, author of "Jazz from Detroit", writes about this in his book, and says Roland privately told pianist Michael Weiss that "A Child Is Born" was his tune.
