One thing I like about these patches is their simplicity. There's nothing worse than having a ton of useless patches with all kinds of cascading modulations and things jumping in and out for the sake of showing off the depth of the synthesis engine. These kinds of patches can be easily tweaked and put into a track.

I've occasionally looked at buying an old '80s synth, but then I see that my old '90s synths barely work anymore - the batteries are dead so you can't save any patches, some of the buttons don't work, the LCD screens are starting to go, and it would be very expensive to have a tech fix them where I live. That's why I think getting a Juno-X makes a lot more sense as it gives you all the old synth sounds and a whole lot more with Roland Cloud. Great sounding patches, BTW. Thanks, Jack and Falcon.

I know the feeling lol. I have the Fantom which has teh same engine - so can get those sounds if I need them. truth is I tend to go elsewhere.... I used to have a Deep Mind 12 but that went. Decent synth but I dont miss it. I had a hydrasynth as well - but that also went by the wayside. I do have a Peak and a Virus Ti2 alongside the fantom (the Virus is a live workhorse where its more dated VA isnt a problem - and it does the 95-2010 dance/pop classic sounds perfectly). The Deep Miond was replaced by a Prophet 6... and also an OB6 that cvame the month earlier. the Hydrasynth was replaced by an Iridium keyboard (poly AT as well) and I have aPro3 as well. IF I was stripping back.... Id have the Junox, with the Iridium, then the OB6 and P6 desktops. I could live with that.

I own one and only thing I would add to this synth is polyphonic aftertouch.....would be a game changer for controllers if it had that. Even if you buy an old Ensonic just to get a poly aftertouch key bed it can still cost you $600-$1000 just to get Poly After Touch.......cheapest poly after touch synth new is Hydra Explorer $800 US.....would totally change it to a "great value/bang for buck" instead of slightly over priced for a pure digital synth. One of the best synths to come out in the last decade, this is Roland Getting the new ZenCore engine right imho. The JD-800 VST is outstanding and I have it in my JUNO X...... Do you feel any difference? The Juno X is ABM whereas the System 8 is based on the more accurate ACB.
@deepsynths Жыл бұрын
@@suga4all Yes, there was a difference in sound but it wasn't that much really. Plus, I felt the 106 sound in the Juno-X to be more useable in my mixes. It fit in the mix better for me whereas I could always hear the System-8 in a mix with its "System-8 sound". So as far as the ACB being better, that depends on the user's taste. I like the chorus better on the Juno-X. Plus, the layout, 61 keys, full size keys and classic look. It just won the contest, although I really enjoyed the System-8 while I had it. It was hard to let it go.
@deepsynths Жыл бұрын
@@b2zap665 Not really because I saved all of my patches to my Roland Cloud versions. They can reproduce the sound of the the plug-outs loaded in the System-8. The sound of the Juno-X 106 model worked better for me anyways in my mixes. The size and layout of the Juno-X is just so better than the System-8 in my opinion. Life is too short for for undersized keys.
@deepsynths Жыл бұрын
@HiTekLoLife Don't be fooled by the internet echo chamber regarding some of this stuff. I had them both in the same studio for a long time. I liked the System-8, spent a lot of time with it but in the end the Juno-X won in sound and form. Might be different for someone else but it's not as cut and dry as an accuracy vs polyphony tradeoff. You have to try them for yourself.

But looks lovely and hopefully it was just the unit I was sent. Not from Andertons. It was an open box and badly packed so maybe just a damaged unit. Hey Andy, I’m so sorry to hear that mate and yes I have been been through the mill with “T”. Those initial few weeks when I became aware of it were absolutely hellish for me and almost everything in my life suffered as a result. I couldn’t sleep, I had anxiety issues for the first time ever based around almost anything and everything. BUT I’m out the other side thankfully and here’s a few things that worked for me after trying everything… 1. Cutting out certain foods and substances - This one is the closest I’ve found to a cure. Turns out a lot of things can turn up the noise floor, for me the big offenders were Alcohol, Aspartame (Sweetener) and Caffeine. It was a doctor that suggested isolating different things in my diet and it works an absolute treat for me. I also added supplements like Ginkgo Bilboa, Lion’s Mane Mushroom extract and B vitamins - basically any nerve health supplements. The Ginkgo seemed to really help almost immediately! 2. Get a hearing test - I felt a huge amount of self loathing and guilt initially as I thought I must have caused the ringing I was hearing through all my years of loud shit synth playing etc. Again a Doctor said go get a test done, “It might not be caused by hearing damage”. Sure enough the test showed my hearing was fine and that the ringing wasn’t caused by music or me. This was a massive weight off my shoulders and I would gone to learn that hardly any tinnitus is caused by hearing damage mostly by odd nerve goings on, illness and anxiety. 3. Minimise Stress and maximise Sleep - easier said than done right?! But this one IS the big one. When I’m well rested and not stressed I simply don’t have tinnitus and that lead me to believe the “T” really is a psychosomatic manifestation. I was going through an awful relationship at the time it really kicked in, I was boozing to cope with it, working night and day and then bang - tinnitus. The straw that comes along to break the proverbial!! 🐪 If there’s one thing you get from this Bible of a comment I just hope it’s that the ringing will go away! The magic is to use how crappy and scary it is to force yourself to do the uncomfortably healthy things that perhaps were on the back burner. That’s what it felt like for me and still does. When I work to much, don’t sleep, have a few beers - there comes the ringing again 😔 Anyways - It’s so horrid and I’m very sorry you’re going through it right now but have faith mate and now it is most certainly not a life sentence Brother ✊
