Best ever… anyone says it won’t work… but it’s running, great and it’s simplifying my set up. Spent hours to get the Roland via MIDI into my set up, and failed with every time. Short Video with top content, real workspace environment 😅 Thank you!

great find - not sure why anyone would thumbs-down this, pretty clear from the title what the content will be!

Holy crap, had no idea my XM could do this lol...Roland are geniuses! A wall of synths, drum machine, effects, vocoder, audio interface and a USB midi host all rolled into one amazing box. I literally spent all night setting this up to work with my Slim Phatty, Micro Freak, Blofeld and Typhon. Can't believe this works lol.

@@MRTUNA I’ve tried multiple configurations here, and I’m amazed that this works so well! You’d think they’d advertise something this badass instead of just telling everyone the X and Xm are just “faithful recreations” of old stuff lol. On its own it can power my NDLR, and when set up correctly that can control all of the parts on this synth. It can also power my TR-6s, but doesn’t do audio over that connection like my MX-1 will, I’m hoping they add that capability with a firmware update. That’s solved by connecting an audio cable to the input on the Xm which works perfectly. (Same for the Micro Freak) Right now I’ve got a small powered USB hub connected to it which is powering my Typhon, Micro Freak and NDLR, the TR is connected to the MX-1 along with the audio for all of these and my Blofeld and Slim Phatty. I’f I set the midi channels on some of those to correspond with what’s on the parts in the Xm it layers them beautifully, really sounds amazing. I can turn off the internal drums and have it play the TR instead, which is actually way better than the internal rhythm part. The marketing dept at Roland needs to be smacked, they screwed up the marketing on the JD-XA which is probably the best synth I’ve ever owned, and they really dropped the ball on the X/Xm.

congrats with a great discovery! Tried this with OP-1 finger sequencer (on hold function) playing a single part in a scene, while playing the other parts with the Xm keyboard. Real time controls of the Xm can be applied while the sequencer runs. Very cool and great for live situations!

I would love this year Roland will release an updated firmware that support both midi and audio via usb interface.

Thnx! I wonder, do you know how to make the sequencer of the Jupiter X start and stop through the MC 707. It works well with the TB 303 and the Pro 3 Sequential, but can’t make it happen with the Jupiter X.

Whaaaaaa?? So a Novation launchcontrol xl could be used to add faders and sliders for real-time control of deep params?! Without a pc or iPad in the loop?! Dude... soooo Roland... bury amazing features but make stuff no one cares about front and center... thx for sharing this trick!
@thedrumunkey85824 жыл бұрын
Thank you soo much for outing this secret!! How could Roland not push this feature?! I just confirmed that yes, something as simple yet powerful as a LaunchControlXL works perfectly!

Very interesting I am wondering if the jupiters can send Midi CC via their knobs/sliders for controlling Roland Cloud plug ins and other synth VST ? TouchOSC works like a charm but physical knobs feel better.
@SNO-2 жыл бұрын
YES!. 😀 It does send and receive CC. for mapping knobs or sending CC with a DAW. For SH and all the built ins it maps automatically to the Roland Cloud Plugins. FOr 3rd party it can be configured just like a controller and can act as a full customizable MIDI controller with no sound of course by turning local off.

So except the sound that came out the OP1 the drum and other sounds are different parts of the jp-x on different midi channels, so part 1 is one one channel and part 2 is on another and so on ?
@MRTUNA4 жыл бұрын
even the drum sounds are from the JP-X in this video. No internal sounds from the MC-707. But you're right on about the midi channels: Track 1 is MIDI channel 1, Track 2 is 2, etc.

Love it MR Tuna. I bought JP-X 2 days ago. Can I use this trick to send 'drums only' midi from the iArp to a drum machine and then on to a monitor speaker? The purpose being to provide my live drummer with some JP-X drum foldback. If not can you think of another way to achieve this?

I’m currently in my midi menu on the Jupiter x and I never changed this but it currently looks like this. SysCtrlSrc1 CC01 SysCtrlSrc2 AFT SysCtrlSrc3 CC02 SysCtrlSrc4 CC04 Not sure what this means but it looks wonky how they don’t match 1-1 2-2 and so on

What firmware are you on? My XM is on 1.20 and I’ve tried a Korg Taktile 49, an Akai LPK25 and a Launchkey Mini MK3 and none of them work properly (delayed, partial notes on the first two controllers and nada on the Novation). Curious as to the type of controllers other commenters used successfully on their XMs. This would be great, if it worked.

I connect The NDLR (Conductive Labs) to FANTOM8, The NDLR is powered from FANTOM and can sequence FANTOM. I also have JUPITER-X, I did not notice that the USB port has same capability to FANTOM before I watch this video. Thank you!

Can you use that USB to capture and record audio or midi on a Mpc x

Is it possible to record multiple midi channels into the mc-707 simultaneously? I have a Jupiter-xm, and it would be great if the 707 could capture the output of the xm’s various parts as its arp plays.
@Angelotester4 жыл бұрын
yes, would like to take arp drums as seperate midi channel and send to another device, mainly as an easy way to provide drum monitoring for a live drummer playing along.

Yo I’m trying to get a Jupiter xm but I just want to use it’s speakers so no computer. I read that the Jupiter xm doesnt have like looping you have to punch in the notes or something like that so if you want to lay chords down you have to do it in the menu system. Should I get a midi keyboard that has a looper on it and it has the ability to be powered from the xm only since I don’t want to use a laptop. Want to purchase the xm but it sucks i have to punch in notes in the menu if I want to lay the idea down. Guess it’s actually for foreal keyboard players :( I’m not a keyboard player but yea what do you think I get?
@MRTUNA3 жыл бұрын
yeah the sequencer wont let you play in the notes the same way, but you can use an iphone or ipad connected to it or the roland zenbeats software i believe

Good secret tip. Shame it doesn't work for the new fantom. Fantom has the same usb "memory " port, no joy there. Fantom also has THREE other usb ports marked "external devices " which do absolutely nothing at all... hang on, yes, you can charge your phone.... but that's it! Not even aira products interface with the external device usb ports! The only interfacing must be done via 5 pin din midi, or via the computer. No audio tracks and level 1 basic sampling (no mixing or sequencing, just bash the pads). Some workstation huh... A Ferrari with a wheel missing.
