Incredible sound module with it's specific sounds, also I have one fully expanded, and despite of various VST's, still from time to time I use some of it's sounds in tracks.

0:45 Does anyone know the source of the "D-50 Rhodes" patch? I see it says "USER" but is it maybe a stock preset on the JV-2080 or is it from one of the sound cards?
@adev85658 ай бұрын
It's User:064, a standard patch. The User slots are by default populated with presets but they can be overwritten. If you use "synthmania 2080" with the search engine of your choice, you'll find a page with sound samples that includes the patch you're asking about.
@LittleRichard19882 жыл бұрын
I personally have a JV-1080 fitted 3 SRJV boards including the Orchestral board, only 3 because one of the slots doesn't work. I did consider also getting a JV-2080 so I could house more expansion board, you should buy more boards for yours. I forgot these JV modules are capable of realistic sitar sounds even without the expansion boards. The drum kits are also still usable. It's a shame the JV-1080 doesn't have the ability to play phrases when you hold down the volume knob.

If you know how, the JV2080 can reproduce strings and brass like sounds that surpasses any analog synth. (you might need a Vintage Expansion)

Hi BB, wonder if you can help me. I'm very newbie with this stuff. Hooked m-audio controller midi out to Jv 2080 midi in. No sounds coming out Do I need to assign the kboard to the midi channel on Jv? If yes - please advise how to do this. OR - do i need a soundcard to connect between the kboard and Jv? Thanks
@MantraS772 жыл бұрын
Congrats on your new synth! First of all you can test sound on the JV by pressing the volume button in. Once you know the sound works, press the “patch” button on the JV and in the top right corner it will display the MIDI channel (RX-Ch=). This is what channel you should set your M-audio keyboard too. If the keyboard is set to channel 1 by default, make sure the JV is also set to channel 1 in the settings.
@RP-rn6ut2 жыл бұрын
BB, the sound from Jv works alright, but no sound when playing with the keyboard. The Jv currently set up at 1, but not sure the M-Audio - still searching more information and videos as well.
@RP-rn6ut2 жыл бұрын
Hi BB, I managed to work it out. My next question is - does your Jv required audio interface to connect to your pc/laptop? thanks again
@MantraS772 жыл бұрын
@@RP-rn6ut You would need an audio interface, ideally a stereo one. You can also connect MIDI in/out to a computer with a MIDI interface.

If anyone following this knows of a good video comparison between the JV1080 and JV2080 please post. I'm trying to find some patch examples that actually sound different due to the effects engine. I "heard" that the JV2080 has effects that the JV1080 doesn't have but so far I have yet to hear any patch examples where you can tell the difference. Alternately, if anyone knows of simply a good sound design tutorial showcasing the JV2080's effects that would be super helpful.
@MantraS773 жыл бұрын
In my opinion the differences are negligible. I would love to do a three way comparison of the JV1080, 2080 and the Roland Cloud software version. That being said, you can Google "" the website Polynomial has one. I found the 1080 is slightly brighter but not by much.
@madness85563 жыл бұрын
The 1080 and 2080 have identical fx but you have access to up to 3 insert fx on the 2020 when it's in multitimbral mode as opposed to the 1080 that can have only 1 insert fx. The newer XV modules have more fx than the JVs.
@beatnikcafe2 жыл бұрын
@@madness8556 I appreciate this answer. Clears things up a bit, and also gives me some reassurnce that I don't need the XV. I am leaning toward the 2080 because the interface looks a little better and of course it is likely going to be at least a few years newer.
@beatnikcafe2 жыл бұрын
@@MantraS77 I have seen some good comparisons between hardware and the Roland Cloud. I think the cloud is nearly identical. For what I would use the 2080/1080 for its just more practical to have hardware for the specifics of the setup but I have no issues with the sound of the software. If I end up bringing a laptop into the mix I will probably use it for completely different sounds.
@beatnikcafe2 жыл бұрын
@Xeraser Thanks, that's pretty much the summation I was looking for. I plan to get the 2080 just for the better looking interface/ui and for the fact it might be newer, but not going to pay too much extra, otherwise I'll just get the JV1080, which has a lot of sounds that I like.
