One full year of music studies with this synth and a Rhodes as my main material, not one corner unexplored in it. Lovely machine, and sounds less "flat" than the the later JV1080 et al.

Roland JD990 and JV880 also sound great.

Amazing strings and pads.

I agree. When I was younger I couldn't afford 01/W and used X3, but the strings and pads were very easy to handle.

Great sounding classics keyboard. Can the keys be fixed after the glue inside starts to get sticky over the years? I want to buy one but if the keys can be fixed by replacing the cushion strip that hold the keys when they hit.

The FS keyboard of YAMAHA is used, and as a chronic condition of this keyboard, the grease used inside often deteriorates and sticks, causing touch to become strange. It is a tedious job, but it can be fixed by disassembling the keyboard, wiping off the old grease from the chassis and keys, applying new silicon grease, and reassembling. Don't forget to remove the velocity sensor board before disassembling the keys. If any force is applied to it, it will cause a velocity malfunction immediately. Also, the grease you use is not a simple matter. I use a Japanese company called Shin-Etsu Silicone, which specializes in silicone grease, but I don't know what kind of grease is available overseas... Is the display colour white
@fmori_synth2 жыл бұрын
The manufacturer of this display says it is white and black, but it is actually light blue with blue text. Due to the camera, it appears white, but it is actually light blue.

It was reasonably well distributed in Japan, but there are not many machines in existence in Japan because of the problem of the glue attaching the weights on the back of the keyboard melting and destroying the keybed.

JV-1080 with a keyboard. Can only be great.
@MacXpert74 Жыл бұрын
Actually that was the XP-50 😉 It has the same sound engine as the JV-1080. The JV-80 came a few years before it and has a slightly more limited soundset, but it sounded great.

The keyboard version of the JV-1080 is the XP-50! This one will break 100% if not maintained, though!

I checked the schematics to see what led to the difference in output sound between the JV-80 and the JV-90.1000. As it turned out, the JV-80 had a discrete preamplifier with transistors, while later models used an OPAMP circuit. People often say that the DAC is different, but all these models had the same DAC, and the only difference was in the preamp. This difference is thought to be what makes the JV-80 unique. I don't understand what's so great about it? Piano tones sound terrible, acoustic instruments are its weak point, the JV-1080 is better in literally everything, its sound and capabilities are balanced, it's a more versatile module and I will always prefer the 1080
