Thanks man! Many synths are capable of beautiful pads and strings, and certainly the mighty OBXa! Funnily enough, I quote often find myself playing that arpeggiated sequence from Duran Duran's "Save a prayer" on my JX8P... pitch bend included! Never been particularly fond of the song but I do like that bit towards the end where it goes all "wobbly"! I believe I once read that the arpeggio on the original was done with an SH-2 and so it strikes me as mildly odd, if not downright unlikely, that there is something about the JX8P's default tone that often suggests this piece of music to me. If I am just talking rubbish please don't hesitate to let me know!

Yes, the patches will load into the MKS70 (JX10), but a pacth on the 8P is only half of what makes up a sound in the MKS70 so you can't transfer the bank via sysex as a whole bank to my knowledge anyways. You'd have to go patch by patch. Nit too much hassle though.

Espen Kraft, I have been using Martin Lüder’s PG-8X emulator -which I bought your sound packs for on Patchbay ;) -I adore this synth and it’s a 2nd favorite aside from Juno 60. I want to purchase a JX-8P ( and it’s PG800 programmer of course), but I am curious if it’s possible to expand the soundbank in the JX-8P to match the variety of patches & presets that I have for PG-8X. Hope you see this and reply!
@EspenKraft3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the support! I'm not sure I understand the question though. What do you mean by "expanding"? You mean more banks to store patches in, internally 8P itself?
@1k_Synth3 жыл бұрын
@@EspenKraft The support is my pleasure, you make it easy. You’re a synth guru! Honestly, I don’t exactly know much what I’m talking about -I just want to buy a JX-8P and have my favorite sounds from PG-8X on it, then to use the PG-800 to tweak them. That’s possible, right?
@EspenKraft3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can transfer any sound you create on the PG-8X over to the 8P, in fact I made all the patches in the bank on the 8X and then transferred them over to the real thing. How you do it and how easy it is, will depend somewhat on your skills and MIDI interface, I'll be honest about that. The PG800 or any other controller for the 8P will ease the programming, definitely! Cheers :D

Well, if the guy at Kiwi says that I'm sure he's right and if he by that means that you can't no longer import original sysex data into the synths, well then I'd say that's a bummer. Is the “Piano Pad” Sound at 1:30 created by routing each of the oscillators to a different envelope generator, Espen? Also at 5:20, is “Hasobass” programmed to switch to lead mode by default, or do you select that from the front panel?
@EspenKraft4 жыл бұрын
Man, I honestly can't remember that now. These were created a long time ago, most of them several decades ago. I'd have to fire up the 8P to check, but that's been put away for another shoot so you'll have to wait for that one. ;-)

I wouldn’t otherwise have known that, Espen. It was always a blind assumption on my part that you needed to hit the front panel buttons to switch from poly to unison or lead after you selected the patch. I did know you could program polyphony in the JX 10 and MKS 70.

Now you gave me cause for self-doubt.. ;-) It's been a while since I've used these on the 8P.
